  1. I have no idea about the lights, but trust your gut instinct. Cause and effect are powerful cues as to what is going on.
  2. Now that is dedication, raising a blender up over your head so Tango can have a taste! Sweet guy and sweet Tango.
  3. Tosha, All his body language sounds very promising! He seems like he really likes you. Anytime they stretch, it is a good sign. It means, "Yeah, you're back." I really do believe he likes you very much!
  4. Almost the definition of relaxed! Add to that, a squat body stature, fluffed feathers, and a softly grinding beak and you have one relaxed bird!
  5. Enjoy! He will gain weight. At least my guy did. He is usually about one pound now.
  6. Have you tried taking him outside? My guy had started to fray his feathers, but once I got him outside most days, he stopped. My troop love the sunshine. It really seems to act like a relaxer or sedative. I do not know where you are located though.
  7. Looking at the video it seems he is not swallowing. He sure is beautiful by the way!
  8. Absolutely put your bird to bed when the sun goes down. They need lots of sleep, and Brutus tells me, "it's time to go to bed" once it gets dark. I think an early bedtime, and some sun exposure will help immensely to calm Kito down. It works a charm with my guys.
  9. Keep us posted! Sounds exciting. Give the little one a chance.
  10. You really have made great progress with Gracie. Really, give yourself some credit! I would add, for your consideration, to help with the biting problem, do not give Gracie an opportunity to have to choose. Does that make sense? Just like Dan said, toss the ball and do not offer your fingers. If you give Gracie better choices then she won't have the opportunity to mess up. Also, I always think it is a bad idea if they even start to make biting an automatic response. Meaning that, I think it becomes a habit or the pathways in the brain become ingrained. Better to never start the habit than to try to straighten it out later. Gracie is not alone in being willful. Greys are that way by nature, it does not work to attempt to dominate them. That being said, later you CAN direct them with "no" because they respect you and love you. My guy WILL NOT step up sometimes, and there is nothing I can do to force it. Once I offer my hand and he responds with an immediate lowering of his head, it is game over. To caveat this, though, over time those situations have become less and he rarely bites or attempts to bite anymore. Please keep up the good work.
  11. Hope your visit goes well. Mutual love at first sight perhaps?
  12. I think you are right Ray that it is kind of a "back off" motion. The nodding is actually an up-and-down motion like slowly and almost imperceptibly nodding "yes".
  13. Hi LuvParrots! It would be difficult to video as the action is so subtle. He slooowly nods and not vigorously.
  14. Pancho, my Amazon, will sometimes nod. Especially at night when he is fluffed up and sleepy. When I approach him at that time he nods very slowly. What does this mean? Is it aggressive or does it mean he is uncomfortable? What do you think?
  15. So nice to see happy birds! Congratulations for giving them such great stuff to do!
  16. Welcome Zandra! Are your birds both African Greys?
  17. Brutus knows me as "momma" and also "Sharon." I think that it is remarkable that he knows more than one name means the same person.
  18. Brutus says ho, ho, ho merry Christmas, AND, he also makes a chicken sound, "cluck, cluck, cluck." Where it gets funny is when he combines the chicken clucking with Santa Claus. He goes, "cluck, cluck, cluck, merry Christmas!"
  19. Your smart little joyful grey needs toys, and lots of them. Don't worry about him swallowing toy pieces and bits. If he doesn't have desirable things to do he will do undesirable things to your house. You choose. These guys are smart and need simulation and activity to be happy. Read the entries under the forum for toys and playstands to get ideas.
  20. Great job and congratulations on all your progress with Dorian. So happy for you. My condolences for your Dad.
  21. I feel he is trying to dominate or intimidate you. When you say,"Come on me", do you mean "land" on me?
  22. What a cute and handsome pair. Glad to hear they are doing so well.
  23. I hope Barnaby gets better soon. Is Barnaby a CAG or a U2? Am I missing something? My thoughts are with you and Barnaby.
