I just set my record function for tonight. Looking forward to it.

I had a thought....Maybe we should not think so much but
Acappella replied to KevinD's topic in The GREY Lounge
I think birds breed in captivity that have never known "freedom" are fine where they are, as long as we're doing all we can to enrich and improve their living conditions. It's those birds still being wild trapped that my heart breaks for. Such a high percentage of them die, just so a few terrified birds can be sold into the pet trade. This practice should be stopped yesterday! -
I don't think reading the books would ruin anything for you, unless you are a person who doesn't enjoy knowing what's going to happen a head of time. It's true for the TV series they've moved around the order of some events for better flow, and have expanded the Frank storylines, which get little coverage in the books (mostly the Frank stuff is told in past tense by Claire in the books). The tv series has followed the books really well for the most part. They've done a really good job of hitting all the major points from the books. I'd go ahead a give the first book a go, now that the first season is a couple of years old, and see how you feel. After all, if the series runs the course of the books you could be putting off reading the books by at least 7 years. That's a lot of time to carry the books around, even in Kindle form. I'm right there with you in feeling the shows go by too fast, even with all the damned commercials (which are getting on my last nerve. I record and then play back the show so that I can FFW through all the commercials). I loved the way they did the battle between Black Jack Randall and Jamie without words, just action. They were so far beyond words by that point imho. I'm so glad to have found another fan to obsess over this show with. It's just so well done.

It was a really good episode, didn't disappoint.

Well, it's on for tonight. Spent yesterday re-watching the last couple of episodes of season two so I could remember where we were. Looking forward to 1 1/2 of escapism tonight.

Welcome to both of you, Linda and Abbie. Hope you enjoy being a member of the forum.

I know it could have been a lot worse. I have to take a puffer once a day, and I have a rescue inhaler for my 'episodes'. I just wasn't excited about adding another label to my life. Fibromyalgia, arthritis, bi-polar 2, bad back, asthma, so I was having a bit of a pity party. I'm hoping to save up the money to buy a good air cleaner to help with Dorians dander, and he's going to have to get used to more regular baths, especially in the winter when he's really not a fan. Thanks for your support guys. I really do appreciate it.

Well, it's official, I have asthma. I just got back from the specialist. He didn't tell me to get rid of the animals, but he said they don't help. Oh well, another diagnosis to add to the list. lol

I've had steroid injections twice, once in my hand when I was a teen, and two years ago into my knee. Each time I reacted badly with extreme pain that dwarfed the pain I'd gotten the injection for. My doctor figures I'm allergic to the injections, so no steroid shots for me! My back is still bad. I'm fine around home, but out running errands I'm soon reminded that it's there. I'm getting good at driving the motorized shopping carts that many stores have. Those things turn on a dime - very impressive lol!

I'm glad you're feeling better. Don't push it too hard. Let Miss G be your comic relief. After all, they do say laughter is the best medicine.

I am having the same problems as well.

Glad to hear that things are good. Hope the court date goes as you think it will and that everything will be ok. Moving two times in three weeks was quite the initiation back into the States.
-
Canada is usually a couple of days behind the States, so if you/re Sept. 10th, then we/ll be a couple of days after that. Really looking forward to it.

That's sweet, but he has to realize that it's historically accurate. I know someone who stopped watching when Claire was pregnant and still drinking wine and whisky, but they didn't know back then that that was a no no. I register it and then move on. I'm really looking forward to this upcoming season. They're expanding the time Claire is in the 20th century with Frank, which gets cursory coverage in the books, and I'm looking forward to Jamie and the cave. I've seen a preview of his appearance. All that facial hair must be uncomfortable for Sam to wear. And then of course there's the big reunion in the printshop to look forward to.

So anyone here have season three coming up on the horizon? They've switched it from Showcase network to W here in Canada for reasons I don't know, but thankfully I get both so I can watch unimpeded. lol
-
I'm glad everyone is going to be ok, two legged and eight taloned et all.
-
Oh no! Have they taken your license away? I guess they must have. I'm glad to hear you're going to be ok, but that must have been very scary. How long did it take David to realize you were no longer behind him? The seizures must be very scary for Miss Gilbert. See, she does care about you! I just wish there was another way for her to show it than to pluck out all her feathers. Miss Gilbert, mom's going to be ok, don't worry sweetheart. Just keep her company like you're doing.

What a beautiful baby. I'll defer your age question to those with baby experience. As for eating, maybe he was force weened, not abundance weened. Maybe go back to formula for awhile, and try the oatmeal mixture Sterling suggested. Don't overdue it with the fruit. They love it, but it's mostly water they're getting. Yes, he's gonna poop every 15-20 minutes, unless he decides otherwise, like my Dorian decided all on his own that he doesn't poop when he's on my desk. Don't know why, but it sure makes life easier lol. As for only stepping up for a treat, he sure is getting you trained quickly! Add something to your routine, like he doesn't eat the treat until he steps up and turns around. Are you going to let your baby fly, or is he going to be dependant on you to taxi him around the house? Dorian doesn't fly (I don' think he was ever allowed to fledge), so if he wants to go to another room he's dependant on me, so he eventually steps up. All I can suggest is that you make what's going on outside the cage look so interesting that his curiosity gets the better of him and he comes with you. Enjoy these baby days.

I was so hoping when I saw you updated the thread that it was good news. Yay!!! Welcome home Olive. No more adventures for you miss.
-
Well, I hope your ice maker never breaks. Her majesty would not be amused lol.
-
Oh no, I'm so sorry you're going through this. I agree you're doing the right things. I hope she returns to you soon. <3
-
Karen, I'm so glad that Timber has improved, and I hope things keep getting better. How did he react to the new cage?
-
I know Dorian always likes to take a bath in cold water when I take him outside, but I'm only allowed to put a couple of pieces of ice in the bowl. He's got nothing on Gracie Mae. Are you sure there's no way she can damage her feet? I mean, I know you checked, but they don't always have a firmly developed sense of self preservation.
-
I have as good as a Too here. Dorian's still doing his Too impression! I got a call from the Dr.'s office today after my CT scan. There are shadows on my lungs so I have to go to a respirology clinic and see a specialist now. Crap!
-
Oh believe me I can't get rid of Dorian. He's my baby. I shape my whole day around his routine. I'm just upset at the thought that he could be at the root of my problem. I still think it's damage from the pneumonia since I never had a problem before. Getting an air purifier is on the to do list.
