  1. LOL Judy - have to have a sense of humor around here! What else can you do when you're looking for your tape and you look around and see Bella making off with it! Speakingof the little devil, here she comes, taking aim at my pen and my Feng Shui book, and of course the occasional toe bite - she's such an odd little creature! She loves to nibble on my toes, and then she wants me to give her a head rub with my toes! You know, if she were a human, I'd say she has a thing for feet! Well, I better get going and do some more packing or I'll regret it the day before the movers come. Maybe I'll give Bella a box full of paper to play in - that might keep her out of my hair for a while
  2. Greetings everyone! I just need to take a break from packing and just say "hi" Moving is a bear!!! Well, I was concerned Bella would get anxious about the excitement around here so I've been taking her from room to room with me to pack. Talk about non-stop commentary from the grey peanut gallery!! That girl has a comment for EVERYTHING! Aside from doing the wolf whistle any time she can't see me (I guess that's better then the house alarm which she got tired of doing I guess), she's now taking to chasing Jiggy around and she yells at him "beep beep beep beep" As for being anxious about the boxes and moving - not in the least - more stuff to play with. She loves that moving paper - tons of fun to tear up. Unfortunately anything I have she has to try to run off with. So, I've had to scrap my plan about letting her watch me pack and put her in her cage because she is just too unruly. That's when the comments start up - "what the hell", "beep beep beep", "Jiggyman", "Hi Doc" She jabbers so much I have to bring her back out and so we start the cycle all over again LOL! I think she's hyper active, really LOL! Well, I hope everyone is having a great weekend, and a wonderful holiday if you are celebrating. How is your weekend going?? Cheers! Terri
  3. stick her beak in my cup and pull my drink away from me before I get a sip, steal noodles off my spoon, pull my chicken leg away from me, pull a coaster out from underneath my coffee, jump into my breakfast drink ..... :woohoo:
  4. siobha9 wrote: That's a good question! I don't have two greys, but after seeing other people's babies, I was wondering to myself if I would be able to pick my Bella out if they were all together (and then of course I felt terribly guilty for thinking that I'd have a problem doing so!)
  5. Nice!! Thanks for sharing! She looks a lot like my Bella! But I suppose they all have a a resemblance of sorts to each other
  6. LOL no kidding Judy! My partner isn't here right now, so it was just us critters here! It was such an odd experience, I was reading and then in the middle of my page that little grey noggen pops up  and then rather then looking at my book I was looking into the cute little face!
  7. awww, I couldn't do that to Jiggy BMustee - he LOVES his soup and he's too cute when he runs around with his food to dip it in the water..
  8. So here we're sitting, our evening ritual, I was reading a book, Bella tucked her head under my chin and was nibbling on me periodically for neck scratches. I was trying to "get" something better that I was reading, so I read it out loud. Then I stopped to think about it. At that moment Bella raises her head from under my chin, and puts her beak on my nose and stares me straight in the eyes and then slowly sticks her tongue out on to my nose  What a wierd little creature   That must have looked SO strange her beak on my nose and the two of us staring at each other LOL
  9. Oh my! Bella does that too! I've taught her "no no" and I tell her that, so she waits for me to leave, then she runs back to do it again grrrrrrrrr :S So, Luckily I have clamps for her food and water bowls so, I've now started to use them and she can't pull them out any more B)
  10. Given the premimums pet insurers charge, I think it might be better to put the money you'd pay for an insurance premium into a savings account and let it accumulate interest. At least that way you won't have paid out your premiums for not. I know that's not helpful once you have a problem and need coverage, but it might be a good preemptive measure.
  11. That's super Lucy! Good job with the fresh foods!! I know that must be very satisfying that he's responding to your care Re: the two hour drive - well, if I have the birds with me I don't stop. I take something with me to eat. I know it's a long haul - four hours, but it's not something we have to do every day, so it will work. I'd just make sure you take water for yourself and your grey, and maybe some snacks for him so when you snack, he can too.
  12. cobimoore wrote: How about this cobi - let's just say our cyber snoop tools are all wrong and you've been wrongfully accused of a scam. I'll make it up to you - I'm going to be driving south next week and I can arrange to drive right through Tennesee - I will save you the effort of having to ship a bird, or try to find a new home. We will stop by your place and pick the bird up. Deal? How does that sound? You'll have found a good home for your bird adn you won't even have to deal with anything else. Ok? Let me know, and we'll get organized to have the bird picked up!
  13. These stories are awesome! I wonder if this would make a good coffee table book along with pictures! Bella jabbers - Bella jabbers ALL THE TIME! But she seems to pick up all the little noises I make and I'm not even aware of. I didn't realize that when I want the dogs to get out of the way I say "Beep Beep". Well Bella picked up on that and now she runs around saying "Beep Beep" to everything  It sounds really funny! So we've started calling her Beep Beep:P My male greyhound is beige, maybe he'd make a good cayote impersonation and we'd have the Road Runner cartoon going on
  14. cobimoore wrote: You're correct - there is no evidence that you are in Cameroon. But when ever you send an email, you must be flying to Thailand or Hong Kong because that is where your email is most likely coming from. In fact, it's coming from a Domain that belongs to a gaming company called Typhoon Games, and they are in Hong Kong. Does your employer know you're attempting to engage in illegal activity on their network? Did you know that every time you send something you leave a bunch of cyber-bread crumbs behind? I would not be too smug about doing this kind of stuff from overseas. Scammers from the PI were successfully caught by joint adventures between the PI and the FBI. Countries that want to do business here in the U.S. are quite cooperative with U.S. officials as it relates to capturing cyber criminals because they want to continue doing business here and not have their Domains blocked!
  15. Hi there Lucy, I'm going to have a two hour drive to an avian vet once I get to Florida as well. I'm going to make the drive because people who don't know birds could just seriously mess things up. I have a regular aircraft approved pet carrier that I got at Petsmart for Bella. It's about the size for a small dog or cat. Bella fits in nicely, can stand up. She doesn't mind car rides, in fact she's real curious about looking out, so I'm not too concerned about driving two hours with her. Cheers! Terri
  16. Hi there, Well, our routine can vary as my schedule varies. By in large, Bella, my CAG and Jigme, my conure, wake up before I do and are jabbering away at the top of their lungs before I get downstairs. I usually get downstairs with my female greyhound, Dream while Doc, my male greyhound, usually sleeps another hour or so. First thing I let Bella and Jiggy out of their cages and they're usually really spun up. Jiggy chirps at the top of his lungs ( you really need ear plugs as he can blow your ear drums out!) and Bella is bobbing her head up and down, flapping her wings and giving "kissies". Jiggy starts foraging on his playtop (I've created a foraging enviornment on their playtops using hay with pellets, dried fruits and viegies and nuts strewn about the hay). Bella flies off her perch and "assists" me in making her breakfast. She nibbles on my toes and climbs up the side of the counter, gets into anything she can get into, crawls up my leg, makes it to my shoulder and starts preening my hair. She's always fit to be tied in the morning. After she eats, she's usually ready to play and she plays rough! She attacks her toys, dangling upside down, growling and screeching at the toys, she chases poor Jiggy around (he usually flies over to sit with me until Bella is done acting crazy). In between she'll forage, sit on her door and jabber and jabber and jabber! She talks non-stop! If I'm working from home, we all then go upstairs to one of my bedrooms which I use as a meditation room and believe it or not - all four of the critters sit with me while I do my meditation practices  After that I bring the birds to their cages, and put them in, turn on the bird sitting video and take the dogs for a walk. When I get back, if it's their shower day, I'll take the birds into the shower with me and give them a nice long shower. When they're done, I wrap them up in their warm towels and let them sit in those until they're fairly dry. In the mean time I get dressed and put on make up. By then Bella usually comes out of her towel and starts playing with her image in the make up mirror, or she steals the lipstick or something else she can get her beak on  If I'm heading into the office, I put them into their cages, fill their foraging cups, or hide goodies throughout their cages. I then do a quick cage clean (sift through the walnut shavings in the litter box andwipe off birdy poop), get dressed and off I go to work. In the evening I let them out of their cages first thing and they spend time foraging then, and of course talking up a storm. We feed the dogs, and then settle in for news and a movie or something. Bella usually eats dinner with me by helping herself to my plate  She then sits in the living room on her table top perch and plays with her toys, or jumps on to me and tucks her head under my chin and gets her head and neck scratches. So LOL That's about what our routine is like, but it varies a good deal I think I'm going to get one of those bird adventure packs for the summer and take the birds with us on our morning walk. I think they'd enjoy it too. Cheers! Terri
  17. Thanks Tracy! My sense is getting down there is only going to be part of the challenge - getting them used to the new house is going to be the next part of that challenge. I've selected a location for their cages that is similiar to what they have now. So, I'm hoping that will take care of some of the anxiety. The builders are taking care to air the new place out well and get all the paint smells out. So.... we're keeping our fingers crossed!!!!
  18. Hi, wow, we're about to go through the same thing here. I don't know how Bella is going to react when the boxes and everything start stacking up. One thing I'm going to make sure of is that neither of them sees the movers messing with their cages. They love their "homes" and are very defensive about them. I have two "avian hotels" from Avian Adventures, smaller travel sized cages - but big enough for a grey to stay in for a couple of days. I've been keeping those in my office this past week, and have brought Jiggy and Bella up with me to play on the cages so they get used to them. Then I kept them in the cages over night in my bedroom as well. I think they're good with their travel cages now. When the movers come I'm going to put them in those travel cages when things start getting taken out and I'm going to keep the birds in a quiet room with the door shut so they aren't exposed to things getting taken out. Hopefully this will keep their anxiety to a minimum. After that we have a 14 hour drive ahead of us with one stop in a pet friendly hotel (two greyhounds, and two birds and two humans :woohoo: ). Then a stop at my daughter's house - the birds love her and her family. The animals are going to stay with her while I head on to Tallahassee to close on the house. The kids will bring the animals to us the next day. So - I'm feeling your anxiety!!! We've got it going on here too!!!
  19. Hi there Lucy, Congrats to you and your new feathered companion. Re: taking him to the vet now - if it were me, I would take him now, but I would ensure I find a certified avian vet who has good reviews. It may take some research, but a good avian vet will make all the difference in the world. I recall our first vet visit and I was termendously nervous about how Bella would take this visit. The vet was so good with her, so confident, loving, and reassuring he made the visit a game for her. Her "check up" turned into a visit with a funny looking guy with a big beard, a kind voice, gentle hands, and fun tricks. He thought she might be a little stressed out after our visit and might have a loose stool because of it, but Bella didn't even bat an eye lash - it was such a positive experience she took it in stride. So, I would take him, but I would make sure it is the right vet, one that meets your needs as much as the birds - i.e. someone who will provide you with tips, information, and is available to you (and for me that means mentally and emotionally available - a vet who understands what makes me anxious about my birds and can help me understand how to deal with issues). Cheers! Terri
  20. Talon, here's the network from which this email originated. You can report if you'd like using the abuse email address: Network Contact Information: The following details refer to the network that the system is on. abuse@xo.com +1-866-285-6208 10 Marshall Street Old Greenwich CT 06870 US The organization responsible for the domain is Typhoon Games in Hong Kong. Who knows, someone might be playing around on their network? I have the Domain ocntact information too, but if I were to boot them off the net, I'd nab them through the Greenwich CT system.
  21. Hmm, well the domain name resolves to a service in San Mateo CA, but then the hop goes to Thailand. That might explain the poor English. Either way - it does seem like a scam and I'd get rid of it before someone falls for this. I'll see if I can't get one of our other tools to dig up this email address.
  22. I'm worried about the bird as I'm sure you all are. This "ad" looks like some cut and paste job taken from a description of AG's and the words "my" added.
  23. Hi Kasia, no problem re: the assist. I think there are a good many people here who would assist in any way possible to ensure the babies stay well. Do keep us posted. I'm in transition and wont' be on much, but a PM will get to my email which gets to my Blackberry
  24. Wow Spooky! What an orderly little girl she is! Jiggy, my conure, is very prompt about going to bed. We all sit together in the living room in the evening and when he's had enough, he flies off to his cage and tucks himself into his cage  Bella - well, she'd stick around with me as long as I'm awake, but I usually put her to bed by 9:30 pm as she's sitting on me with her head tucked under my chin falling asleep.
  25. That's a hoot Spooky! Does she yell for her favorite team yet??? I bet that's going to come
