The flight suit liners are cheaper than the panty liners...they are only $2.

Congratulations, Hanna! :)I'm so jealous! Is this your first baby? As for the cuddliness, Juji is as cuddly as they come. She wouldn't leave me be last night.

Congrats Imme What an exciting time!

Ooooh what I meant to type earlier The cleaner I bought at the pet supply store is orange oil, which I LOVE the smell of. It works really well and prevents future messes from sticking.

I don't have a link, but their have been reports linking Febreeze to avian deaths. I love the stuff, so now I am just careful to not spray it anywhere near my baby...but with 3 dogs and 3 cats, it's a life saver.

Vile, nasty, disgusting, creep little....

I'm getting the feeling that you don't particularly like bugs. I don't think they are harmful...I mean as long as they are not getting bit or what not...the Congo is full of buggies...protein People always ask me if I miss living in Florida. I tell them enthusiastically "NO! TOO MANY BUGS!" -
Last night Juji fell asleep on the very top perch of her foraging tree, more than 6 1/2 feet in the air. She usually goes to bed at 10, but I guess she needed a little extra shut eye last night. She was sooo cute up there.

Wow! Congrats!!! I was posting just hours after Juji arrived too...I can't believe it's been almost 3 weeks. I would just keep trying. If the bird always flies back to you, have her spend some good one on one time when you are not in the room. I am blessed that Juji has adjusted to both of us evenly, although I have a feeling that if Kaleb were around more, she would be a total Daddy's girl.

Jimmy, Thanks so much for sharing It's fun to see Cosmo just a little bit a head of Juji. It lets me know what to expect...sort of.

Juji can officially say "uh oh!" YAY!!!! She first uttered it while sitting on the curtain rod of the kitchen window at the group home. YAY!!! Now she is saying it more frequently during her babbling sessions, which are often on the top level of her tree...maybe I should call it her talking tree. Anywho, just thought you'd want to know. Also, Juji's personality is coming out big time. She can be very demanding, but also warms my heart with her cuddle sessions. Love to all, Hannah

Denise, I know how you feel. The first week Juji cut up my hands so badly that they were bleeding and my group home kids accused me of cutting. I just put lots of vitamin E lotion on my hands and made sure Juji spent plenty of time on her new climbing tree. She also has a perch that wears her nails down. As for clipping, what I noticed is that our clippers were not sharp enough and the pressure freaked her out...so I had to stop...if you are going to clip them make sure that your clippers are plenty sharp. Hope all goes well Hannah

If I gave the impression that I was leaving them alone or considered the cats and dogs safe, I didn't mean to. No, I am very conscious about what's going on with my critters and would never allow Juji in proximity unless all was calm and I was in as much control as possible...I guess my point was that if Juji is going to be around for the next 60 years, and the dogs for the next 15 or so...they better figure out how to co exist as peaceably as possible. I am excited to see how these relationships b/w all the "furkids" develop. As I write this, all three dogs and one cat are on the couch with me.

That's really a neat way to tell special stories. Thanks for sharing.

Rockelle (my former foster grey) had a great sense of humor and would laugh at us constantly...especially when she would trick my step mom into going to the microwave when it wasn't done yet
-
Tari, I disagree slighty with totally separating them. You of coarse need to be very watchful and alert at all times, but if you want your grey to be part of your family, then ALL of the family members need to learn to live together. My baby CAG is adjusting well to being around our 3 dogs and 3 cats, which I carefully supervise. I never leave them alone, but I don't purposely separate them either. Yes the dogs and cats are predators, but this new family member should not totally disrupt their freedom. It's my responsibility to keep all of them safe and happy. It was a delight to me the other day when all three dogs and one cat were lounging on the couch while Juji was on my shoulder. All as calm as can be.

Personally, I think we over disinfect sometimes...but no , the wood can be disinfected with plant based disinfectants no problem...you just have to make sure it's safe wood.

Juji is 13 weeks old...give or take a day or two. It's nice to have another Hanna(h) around Siobha9, I was hoping someone would catch that.

It's called their flock call or something isn't it? It's also why they learn microwave and oven beeps All the noises our lives are run by.

Judy, More like obsessive :woohoo: Yes, Juj is trying a few words. Hello and goodbye are getting more and more clear. Also, when our friend was installing her new tree she picked up the sound of the power drill...fun fun I've actually been posting less since Juj came home, except the updates...but I'm sure the fun stories will be pouring in soon.

WOW!!! These past two weeks have been a whirlwind. I feel like Juji has been part of this family for years. Here are the highlights... - Juji can now fly and land proficiently, which she uses to give me heart attacks and to impress new people. - Juji has been going to work with me every day and has become very good friends with a troubled 12 year old boy who loves her to pieces and is an absolute natural. - Juji now expects to eat breakfast with me every morning and lets me know with her baby "feed me" call. Bananas, sweet potatoes, and whole grain oatmeal are her favorites so far. - Brave little Juj has no concept of fear and goes right up to my 75 lb lab and pecks her nose. - My husband has fallen head over heals in love with this little fluff ball, and can't stop bragging about her to anyone who will listen.
-
Awww how cute! It seems like only last week that I brought Juji home. Oh wait, it was

Ooooh I need to get you a picture of my new foraging tree... I can show you the skeleton, but now it has all kinds of fun things on it, like ropes and dishes and toys. I had a girl in my youth group build it, and she did a great job.

Post edited by: Talon, at: 2008/02/06 21:47

Juji just makes a big circle from top of the cage to the bottom squawking like nuts. What a persistent bugger.
