That's the thing...we cuddle all the time! She is the cuddliest bird I have ever seen. On Friday, we spent two hours just cuddling. Is she that insecure? I have tried putting her in a tub, but she is such a good flyer that she gets away from me.

Juji did the same thing. Judy said it would stop...but it hasn't yet We try not to encourage it. I LOVE the little hat rack thing, that's sooo cute. What a gorgeous baby. Sorry about the Karen thing, you told me your name a while ago, and I tried to remember. Sorry. I make it easy and put it as my screen name. Wouldn't that screw people up...HA!

Bill Cosby came up here to do a show a few years ago and joked that we are three hours away from everything up here. I agree that the winters make you appreciate the summers, and what gorgeous ones we have.

I tried the shower, and she hated that too...maybe I need to try again. What do you do for the shower? Do you put a towel on your shoulders or what?

I lived in FL for 10 years, and the ONLY thing I loved were the fruit trees in our yard. Mommafawkes, actually the UP connects at Marinette, WI, which we live about 2 hours from. We are about 3 hours from Green Bay. I love the snow, and the beautiful forests, and pretty much everything about the north. I guess it's just a good fit for me.

Juji is about the most personality filled little package I have ever encountered. I need some advice with dealing with this little bundle of energy. 1. She chirps piercingly high pitched non stop for a very long time and I can't figure out what she wants. What do I do? I noticed that my ear felt funny after a session of her on my shoulder. It's usually after she hasn't been out of her cage for a while, so I feel bad about putting her back. Do I need to give her a little tough love? 2. She chirps a hungry chirp very loudly if she is being fed, and won't stop a long time after she is done, or she will just crouch and squawk and won't eat. What's that about? 3. She won't tolerate a misting for anything. She will do laps around the house to avoid getting misted. I am concerned about her dry skin in this very dry winter air. How can I encourage her? Thanks for putting up with the long post. Hannah

YAY KAREN!!!! I am sooo excited for you. Boy the time flies.

I use an orange oil based spray. It works really well and smells GREAT.

I am in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan...that little thing b/w lake MI and lake superior that most people think is part of WI. Little weather tidbit, our average snowfall in my county is over 20 feet, and we broke the records by far this year and are over 30 feet.

I feel bad because we have a smaller cage, but we just couldn't afford one of the monstrosities. It's not tiny, she can still climb up and down and can spread her wings, but that's about it. Thankfully she doesn't spend much time in it right now, and hopefully we will be able to afford something bigger soon. Ahh parental guilt.

It sounds like sarcasm or possibly insulting your intelligence, like the first time a child catches their parent off guard with whitty remark. That is too funny.

Congratulations on the results of your hard work. How fun!

We have nutri-grain bars here in the US, but they are nothing like that. The are more like oatmeal bars with fruit filling.

Has anyone tried the new nurti meals that lafeber makes? They look interesting, but they are expensive. Juji loves their avi cakes, so I am wondering if the nutri meals are worth it. If you want to check them out, the site is www.lafeber.com Thanks Hannah

Juji likes the bathroom too, which is hard on my ears b/c it echoes.

When we had our first grey we tried to teach her phrases that our cockatiels knew, such as "praise the Lord" and "Hallelujah", but she refused. She picked up on other things the first time. She did love her Hebrew music though. She would dance all over the place.

The birdsnways website is how I found my breeder(s), and they were both sooo wonderful.

Juji is babbling like mad now. Some of her sounds are hilarious because she will start high pitched and go low and vice versa. This morning she was sitting on my should while doing dishes and she sounded like our little dogs high pitched play bark. She seems to talk the most when she is on the top branch of her tree. She tries out all kinds of new sounds that she never uses anywhere else. Does anyone else's grey have a special place they like to try out new sounds? Or where they are more vocal than other places?

Juji shows very strong potty habits. She always goes first thing when you take her out of her cage, so we have her go onto her top cage perch and say "go poop" and she does, sometimes right away, sometimes it takes a little while. I don't think it will take long for her, but I don't want her to depend on me to tell her either.

Ah the little fuzzy ones. :)We have so many deer here that they raised actually raised the hunting limit this year. Beautiful pics.

Well Juj was definitley excited to have me back last night. She didn't get mad, which I was glad of, and our sitter informed me that she was very lonesome the past few days. They really enjoyed having her, though. Today we got back our regular routine, and she got to play with dad for a while. She loved that.

So my husband has been traveling every week, Monday-Friday, and will continue to do so until mid April. This totally sucks on the marriage front and we have been missing each other terribly. So this week he was traveling to Appleton, WI, just an hour from Green Bay (about a 4 hour drive for us). Sunday afternoon he looks at me and says, "Hey, since you don't have any work lined up this week, you wanna come with?" He was expecting me to say no because of having to arrange sitters for all the critters so quickly, but we called a bunch of people and everything worked out. Now, I was planning on eventually bringing Juji with me on one of these trips, but right now we can't afford a travel cage, so I called Kaleb's aunt, who loves birds, and she was delighted to birdy sit. Man I miss my baby bird. I found myself missing her smell today. I really hope she isn't too traumatized when I get back. Anywho, I will be home in 2 days, but for now I am enjoying the King suite and cruising the gigantic mall at my leisure (not buying anything, but still fun to look). I am going to go to the big petco later and window shop for my Juj. That will make me feel better.

That's almost exactly what my Juji's tree looks like! I have been soooo impressed with it, and Juj loves it to pieces.

I saw a report on 20/20 that said that people in my generation (born in the 80's or later) have been exposed to so much teflon that it will forever be in our blood. We can't get away from it. It's in our clothes, our carpets, and our cookware. Thankfully, I believe it's only the gas form that has been proven to kill birds...I hope so anyway.
