  1. {Feel-good-0002006E}{Emotions-00020060} I tried not to word it too nasty. :pinch:  I really wish I could say that was as gross as it got at my house, but unfortunatly it gets much worse when it comes to my dads nasty dogs!!!   I won't even go there!!! Hahahaha!!! Too much for even me!
  2. {Feel-good-0002006E} I know, I try not to get up at all!!! LOL!!! I'm telling ya', every time this cat eats she's barfing something up. I think she thinks she's a cow because half the time she barfs it up and then starts in for seconds...if you know what I mean.

    Preening

I'm with Tracy, all parrots need to preen a lot...their feathers are very important to them. I have noticed too that greys preen a little more than others, so you got nothing to worry about.
  4. I love the grey naps...too cute. Welcome Dave, and yes, you will fit in great around here. As for telling other greys apart, I sure can. I only have Elmo at home, but there are 5 greys at my work that I can tell apart. I can tell pretty much all the birds apart at my work except the caninde macaws. I don't really like them so I guess I just don't pay as much attention to the fine details as the other birds. I can tell one bird from the other normally from the beaks size and shape, and then from the feathers as well. It's kinda like identical twins, the parents can always spot the small things.

    Car alarm?

My grey does all the noises phones make...he's got a thing for phones...and the alarm clock. If I hit snooze, it keeps going off!!! I'm going to bet that your Coco will talk before you know it.
  7. We have a HUGE blue&gold macaw at my work that we think is a boy, but it's name is Ethel...LOL...it's soooo funny when this beast of a bird says "Ethel, Ethel, Ethel"!
  8. {Emotions-00020060} I thought you would like that...Hahahaha
  9. Hahaha, I just got a mental image of Elmo watching the finches like it was a soap opera...As the food dish turns, these are the days of our Aviary. da da daaa daaaaa da da daaaa da da da da da da daaaaaa...
  10. {Feel-good-0002006E} not as bad a cat that can't keep nothing down...try stepping in kitty barf at 1am when you get up to go to the bathroom!!! :woohoo:  :pinch:
  11. Elmo will run around on the floor sometimes (he likes to walk into the bathroom and talk to himself) and he also hangs out on the bed with me...both give him a change for his feet. If Harley likes to explore the floor from time to time let him do it just for the fun of it, with the added bonus of foot health.
  12. yep, I've gone through the process many-a-times. I have my finch cages in the same room as Elmo...one is maybe 3 feet away from his cage...and he is fine. It's kinda like live bird TV for him, and he will scream at them and watch them...very cute. As long as you do the quarentine first then you have nothing to worry about. I wouldn't put them in he garage though...finches are VERY sensitive and the temp may get to them. Putting them in a room of the house your grey doesn't go into would be more then fine for a quarentine. btw, I just brought my new diamond doves in with the flock and Elmo has already started to mimic them.
  13. I know all about bringing in Finches into a grey home. Finches hide illness even better than the big guys, so a quarentine is a must. I have found that if they don't look, act, or have any other signs of illness within the 45 days they are fine. The only thing I would worry about the finches carrying in with them is Polyoma (I'm sure thats spelled wrong). All small birds can carry it, like cockatiels, budgies, lovebirds, and finches, but most pet stores and many breeders vaccinate baby parrots against it. If you don't know if your Bently has had these vacs yet call up who you got him from and ask. If not you may want to bring him into the vet for it. It's 2 shots given over 2 weeks.
  14. I breed finches and they all have their own ways of doing things. One of my star finch pairs only do it when they are on the floor of the cage and I had a set of Zebra's that the male would do a "fly-by" mate. Your male may not have a good footing, so maybe some different sized perches could help. Seeing as though they have had babies before I would have to say he gets it at some point or else their would alway be dud eggs.
  15. yeah, and as long as you expose her to new things and places the less likely it is that she will pluck.
  16. no, I wouldn't think so. Molting times are more of a "ballpark" figure. It's normally around a year of age, but the weather can cause it to be earlier or later. Plus, every bird molts different, some molt is one huge molt a year, other have smaller molts a few times a year, and others are in a constant molt.
  17. Oh yeah, it molted out. Nothing to wory about!B)
  18. I use a water bottle for Elmo...no spills and no "soup".
  19. First, don't do anything. If she gets a rise out of you it could become a habbit. It could also have just come out...how old it Coco again? Many feathers come out during molting when the bird is preening, so I wouldn't be too worried
  20. Yeah, there are a lot of free birds out there, but use common sense and don't ever send money. Plus, with older birds you would want to meet them first so try to find birds that are local. Judy, you know I'm just busting your chops!B)
  21. Dan and judy...what a couple of kiss-ups! :woohoo: :silly:  Just kidding! No wonder you guys have so much Karma! hahaha
  22. Yes, what Dave said is right. If you want them to be pets it's not a good idea to breed them, and if one of them isn't a great "top notch" grey your chicks won't be worth much. I don't think the pestering is sexual, I'm thinking it's a turf war. Given the fact that your Quinn is not the picture of health, Jiggy might be picking on him for that as well. I would start housing them in separate cages if I was you.
