Hi Di, 15 weeks should be absolutely fine, 3 1/2 months seems to be the average age in the UK. My 2 boys were 14 weeks. I assume you can visit your baby ? Follow his progress, observe him eating,dont be scared to ask questions,like what foods will he be weaned on ? Seeds, pellets,veggies, fruit etc..? idealy if he is offered these foods from an early age you will be able to continue feeding him a varied diet when he comes home All babies are different & every now & then you will get one that takes much longer to wean.

Yes i have to agree with the concerns with the other members, he sounds as if he is begging for food.If you can give us a little more information oh his diet, what he is eating etc.. we can help & advise you

Sorry but that particular brand i was unaware did a african grey mix, i thought it was more for the smaller birds,finches, budgies etc.. Im sure if you do a google search for the UK you will be able to find a stockist where you could purchase it in larger quantities

It may well be because he is young, babies do use their beaks to explore, but if he is piercing the skin he is applying too much pressure & you must nip this in the bud now.Heres a few ideas.. If you pull your hand away and yell, then your parrot gets a reaction out of you and will try again to get the same reaction. They think it's a game, try & show no reaction to him,try to distract him when you can see that he's going to bite,you can gently wobble your hand if he is on you this works well for me.I also have a clicker ( like some people use for dog training! ) if mine go to nip i click on the clicker & say a firm No in a strong voice, the clicker distracts them,or have a toy handy they he can play with. Some people use time out, if your parrot bites you simply return him to his cage for 5 minutes & walk away from him & say nothing.Never respond to the biting it only re-enforces negative behaviour.All parrots at some point will & do bite,as he is only a baby im pretty sure you can work with him to stop the biting

I'm afraid i agree with Caroline, looking at the pictures nothing looks untoward with the baby, my only concern would be the wing clipping at such an early age,babies should be allowed to fledge & build up their muscles before a wing clip is carried out

I dont actually see a problem from the pictures you have posted.None of my 4 greys stand bolt upright.Have the wings been clipped ? Any concerns you really need to discuss with the store before you bring her home.

Clipped parrots will often hang on to a perch, the side of the cage, or a dowel on a playgym, You and flap, Flapping is the only way he can get to exercise .

Do not leave moistened pellets or vegetables in baby's cage more than 4 hours to prevent spoilage.

I can only Echo what Siobhan has said. I have two dogs,one is 8 years old & a 8 month old puppy.Im different that my 4 greys have their own birdroom but they do have time out of there & my dogs are never left unsupervised, no matter how reliable or obedient a dog is i would say that natural animal instinct would kick in . I now have a baby macaw & fortunately the dogs are petrified of her, they have their own space but when there with us they are both supervised at all times.
