  1. Well im sorry you feel the replies were personal attacks but i can assure you the members that replied would not publicly attack another member. You posted your story going in to great detail & therefore left yourself wide open for the criticism & concern that was expressed.
  2. A warning to all grey owners then, no cheating on your partner or at least out of earshot :pinch:
  3. Good thread Berna, better to plan ahead than be caught out.
  4. Greys need the proper environment and diet to breed successfully. It' not just a matter of buying two birds, putting them together and letting nature take its course,it's far more complex than that ! You dont have anything to worry about, just enjoy your greys as pets
  5. The webpage cannot be found ! Link's not working for me.
  6. Sorry to hear that Pat,fingers crossed it was damaged & she pulled it out, perhaps it was irritating her in some way ? Im sure you will be keeping a close eye on her
  7. Yes the ad is nearly identical to ones here in the UK,As you know the Hyacinth Macaw is an expensive bird to purchase if your fortunate to find them for sale.Highly unlikely you would be offered them for adoption, screams scam
  8. He is quite the little raver  Thanks for sharing your video with us.
  9. Quote " I also want her to be able to fly away from the boat, and then return, when I am entering a foriegn country and they don't allow birds there" "she had hit the wall and fell to the ground " "Me and my bird currently live on a sailboat. She does not have a cage, and had almost full run of the boat" "So, I have her full-flighted right now so that if she does escape (and she has) " As Siobhan I'm shocked & horrified by your story, You are putting your greys life in danger, so far you have been lucky, but that luck is going to run out & unfortunately it's going to end in disaster.Im sorry if this sounds blunt but my main concern is your greys safety.

  14. Yep as Berna said, Cosmo will be fine,a little bit wont harm him Nice photos jimmy
  15. Hi Melissa, I love the way they can say the right words at the appropriate moment My 4 every morning when i go to clean the bird room always ask " what ya doing " Kaiti the TAG always says good morning, Coco says " hello " everytime she hears a phone ring, & all four call the dog when they hear me trying to get him from the garden " Ty come 0n, come on then they whistle
  16. As Berna asks, how often do you bathe/spray him ? Greys can play a little rough sometimes & knock their feathers which give them that raggy look Plenty of spraying to encourage him to preen them.
  17. Dave your nuts mas im glad Dave & I was able to help, keep us posted on how things go
  18. It sounds definately like formula was fed too hot, this would have burnt the crop, in severe cases it then blisters & scabs, when the scab falls off a hole is left .I am sorry that you have had to experience this but without a written health guarantee from the breeder im not sure how this would stand legally. I hope other members will more legal knowledge can help you.
  19. Well if it's stopped bleeding that's good, but if she knocks it & it starts again,Get a dessert dish, fill it with either flour or corn starch.....DO NOT USE QUICK STOP ON BEAKS!!! Either dip the bird’s beak in the dish by placing the dish up to the beak or dab the beak with your fingers, If the bleeding doesn’t stop in about 5-8 minutes, call your vet. Even if you do get your bird’s beak to stop bleeding and it appears to be healing, call your vet anyway. The vet may need to remove the rough edges and hairline cracks need to be looked at since bacteria can sometimes grow in them. Sameera keep a close eye on it & give your vet a ring in the morning unless it starts to bleed again & your unable to stop it then you will need to ring him ASAP.

  22. Dave has offered great advice, no more i can add, what i will say for others reading this post is.. Birds are very much creatures of habit and routine. A new cage is a brake in his safe routine. Most birds will see a new cage as being a scary new object So let your feathered friend adjust to this scary object in his own time.Let your bird watch you set up his new home. His natural curiosity will flow.If your bird is very frightened leave the cage within sight but far enough away to give some comfort.Place some of his favorite things in the new cage. If the cage has a play top attach toys and put some of his favorite food in the new dishes. Even if he won’t approach the new cage having his favorite things within sight and easy reach will keep him interested and his natural curiosity will draw him to try out this new place in time. Some birds will adjust in a day. Others will take longer.
