2. Alfie & Freddie are 8 months old & started to talk at 6 months, many people said they wouldn't talk as there was two of them.Talking was never an issue to me & it's a bonus they both have learned some words. Good Boy Give us a kiss Whos a pickle Hello mum Hello coco what now they cluck like chickens A wonderful telephone Wolf whistle Coco has only been with me a month & is 14 months old & was kept as a single bird she only says Hello Coco but whistles the most wonderful tunes. I will be very interested if sshe learns from the boys, or if the boys will stop ? Time will tell

13. I can see how Threads divert from the topic, it only warrants one non related remark to be posted then the thread starts to escalate away from the original subject. I joined to share my passion of my greys with you, learn & experience new things with you all,i didnt join to debate the rights & wrongs on threads & posts. I have edited my post as i do not want to be caught up in the middle of this, i think we should all take onboard what has been asked & get back to enjoying the forum Post edited by: lovemyGreys, at: 2007/08/20 00:43

Post edited by: lovemyGreys, at: 2007/08/20 00:53

15. Imran Monique has given the best advice you really do need to contact a vet as soon as you can. Heres just a few basic tips to help while you try & find a vet. Warmth, you need to keep your bird warm, If you have a heating pad or a hot water bottle wrap it in a towel & place under the birds cage, make sure it does not come in contact with the bird or cage,Place a thermometer near the cage to monitor temperature; keep it at 80-85 degrees. Is your bird eating ? You may have to give small amounts of soft food with an eyedropper or on a small spoon, this will help maintain nutrition. Avoid any stress, cover the cage on two sides & on the top. I do hope you can find a vet to help you.
16. I do agree Monique they are very pretty birds. Tari what a shame your eclectus didnt respond to your husband heres a picture for you just in case anyone is unsure. the male is the green one.
17. Dan thats strange, i left clicked my mouse & scrolled down the page & the queen palm nuts where there ?!!
18. Found this article which refers to the Queen palm nut, which is the nut Makena's post refers to Now Hear This! Oh, Those Tropical Nuts - Yum! The Queen Palm Nut Tree An Avi-Reference Page, creation of Bird Clubs of America - Dick Ivy, Editor Produces a small nut covered with a soft golden colored fruit twice a year, each tree in its own cycle, so fruit is available all year round. Some parrots in the Tropics choose it as a main diet. Native of Brazil (the Hyacinth Macaw loves them); it grows outside in Florida and Southern California. Who likes them? Macaws, Greys, Cockatoos, Amazons (acclimation for some), other birds. What's it like? Outer cover is sticky, sweet, fibrous, very nutritious and high in palm oil, Vitamin E, A and Beta carotene. Some parrots will chew for 20 min. on just one. The nut inside is small and hard. Most birds can't crack it. If the fruit and nut is hit with a heavy hammer or axe, the birds will eat the little nut inside the shell. Hammer gets sticky. The oil, it appears, is not fattening. If fruit is green, refrigerate it to keep it from drying out. Freeze what you can't use in 2 weeks, for later.
19. Good question Tari Alfie & Freddie have been with me since April, So far they have ignored the ceiling, but that could change I think because they live in their own room & have so much to distract them plus Coco has now joined them the ceiling doesnt bother them.
20. Their are some super pictures here everyone My guys in the aviary would'nt stay still long enough to photograph !!
