  1. Tari i wasn't a member then Can you do this again in the future, please ?
  2. Greylover please post a picture soon We are dying to meet Oliver.
  3. Richardsmommy it never happened to me personally, it was a post from a UK forum which i am a member.I posted as a warning for all of us to take care when caring out DIY etc.. FairY i know what you are saying, the odds must be a million to one,but a tragic accident that happened.I'm so fortunate that my greys have their own room in my house, which lessens some of the danger.
  4. mpr86 , i agree with the others it does sound like the bird should be seen by a vet. Was the bird at a breeders or a pet shop ? I personally would have thought if it was a breeder they would have had some knowledge of what was wrong. Had you visited the bird before ? did it show any other signs that suggested something was wrong ?
  5. Well done Greylover for taking the budgie in & giving him a home.I have 3 budgies & they are great little characters:) As for diet i think Tari has covered it Out of interest do you know if it is a male or female ? one why to tell is the cere, the little bit above the beak, males have blue ceres & females brown
  6. Thanks Tari & Dan I've had these guys for about 3 years, their roughly 10 inches with finnage maybe a bit more Calicos are sure pretty & i find watching the fish so relaxing.
  7. Tari your betta is lovely, I love the variation in colours of betta fish Here's my set up with my 3 fancy fantail goldfish
  8. Guys just a word of warning, i don't want to sound negative, but April please get something drawn up in writing to say that your greys are being temporary cared for by whoever you find & both sign it & get it witnessed.I have heard some sad cases where a grey was being looked after & when the time came to return it to the rightful owner the carer refused. I'm not suggesting gary would do this in any way,but please get some type of contract to be safe. I hope all works out for you.

    Veggies

I buy small bags of steamed veggies that i pop in the microwave for my gang if we are not having fresh veg for dinner. dblhelix a very valid tip about hotspots on food warmed in the micro
  10. Gosh i've joined a forum with a bunch of nutters
  11. A great update Lady_Gwennivere , thanks for sharing. I love to hear about other members greys & love the picture
  12. Lidia you sure are ship mad today  but i find them fascinating, i live 5 mins from the sea & whenever an attraction apperas i pop down to the beach to have a look
  13. Monique A first class article showing both sides. I know wing clipping will always be a debatable subject & we should respect each others opinions. There will always be pros & cons. Personally i dont clip my greys.
  14. Lidia love joshua the red, how cool is that  The last boat is pretty cool too, thanks for sharing.
  15. Ceasarsdad i can see how meeting those remarkable people would inspire you. Tari, glad you defied the odds & are still here today. The most major event in my life was when my mother died in a road traffic accident when i was 15 years old.I realized that life is not a rehearsal & we only get one chance at it .I vowed to live each day as if it was my last, as we never know what is waiting for us around the corner.
  16. Great pictures, i bet that was a great site to have witnessed
  17. Sorry just read your having problems with the pictures ! look forward to them tho when you get them up
  18. I love historic things, have you any pictures ? my daughter has just returned from working in portugal & made great friends with a bunch of girls from Ireland She's hoping to visit them next month.
  19. As far as i know she is not a member here, i presume if she was she would have posted this story herself. Love your banner
  20. Hi April, i am in the UK unfortuantely im not in the position to be able to help( i wish i could ) there are many UK based forums perhaps do a goggle search & post some requests, hopefully you will get a response. Two of my greys were breed in Hampshire ! what a small world.
  21. I'm so glad to hear that Mirek's eye is getting better You are doing a great job. Just a tip for anyone who has to give oral medication, i still give my greys a spoon feed once or twice a week, usually a puree of fruit or veg,my thinking behind this is if the need ever arises & they have to oral med i can administer it with the spoon feed
  22. HeatherStrella this accident happened in the UK on a forum there,The lady this happened to is called Mandy & she uses just Mandy also for her username. I can't imagine how this poor girl is feeling & hope none of us are ever faced with a situation like this. I hope by me posting this tragic story we all could learn from it.
  23. A good link dblhelix, I'm sure the "peanut debate " will be one that rumbles on & on ! Personally my greys have peanuts, always human grade. I'm sure as with many foods there is always potential dangers, i think human common sense is one of the best judges. It is also up to the individual to weigh up the pros & cons with the information available & then they can make an informed choice.
  24. Here is a copy of post made today on a UK forum. Posted: Mon Aug 13, 2007 9:40 am Post subject: realybad news -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- sat here sobbing charlies dead. my husband was working in the kitchen putting shelves up charlie was on top of his cage, husband hit his thumb swore very loud charlie screemed and jumped off his cage husband jumped and fell off chair right on top of charlie, its been a awfull weekend we carnt even look at each other.this is the hardest thing ive ever had to do ,didnt cry this much when my mum died. so if im not around for a while its just that carnt talk or face it at moment sorry. charlie was an african grey & i know his owner is distraught.I thought that something positive should come from Charlies tragic death & that is if any DIY, repairs etc.. have to be done to your homes, please make sure you bird is out of harms way or returned to their cage.
  25. Congratulations to you Heatherstrello,a great picture
