If nikko is at a mature age she may well be displaying nesting behaviour. Maybe take the bucket & boxes away for a while & see if she displays this behaviour towards anything else.

 6. Hi Toni, The normal range for weight is between 400 and 650 grams. Alcazar is not to far off that Toni.Boys vary in size as do the females , he may just be a little guy The Grey is a medium size bird. They can range in size from 12-14" from their beak to their tail & vary in weight. Do you know what kind of diet he is on at the pet store ?Did alcazar look well in himself ? When do you get to bring him home ? It will be much easier for you to control his diet & monitor him.

Post edited by: lovemyGreys, at: 2007/08/27 21:26

 11. spookyhurst I am so pleased you have posted this, one of my greys Freddie is doing the same strange behaviour every night i return him to his cage, he dives head first into his food pot with his feet sticking up in the air, he remains there for what seems like forever ! i have searched the Internet to find out what this behaviour may suggest but as yet i am unable to find any answers  i too would be very interested if anyone could enlighten us on this.

 13. Hi, I would advise you not to kiss your grey, especially if you have a cold virus, have a ead through this link http://www.greyforums.net/forums/african-grey/28325-to-kiss-or-not-to-kiss-.html Has she shown any outward signs of being ill ? ruffled plumage, listlessness, swelling of the eyelids, rasping, difficulty breathing, excessive saliva, dirty vent,etc.. Any change in the feces which is not apparently diet related is worth getting checked out.
 14. saraj it would help if you can describe the noise, screeching, loud pitch etc.. You say he is 8 yrs old, have you had him all this time ? a little background will help us to help you

Post edited by: lovemyGreys, at: 2007/08/27 00:19

 18. I would say yes, safe to bring her in & isolate her in another room from kip is safe As Tari rightly says she may be in breeding condition as a female cere will be dark brown , with a rough crusty appearance. If you can get a close up, we may be able to tell
 19. Dennis only you can decide if another bird is right for you How would your wife cope with two if you where away on business ? Would she be able to give them time out of their cages etc.. keep us informed on what you decide ?
