1. It's early days Continue leaving it around so Makena becomes familiar with it, even try playing with it yourself in front of him, show delight in it & let him see it's not something to be wary of.Some greys will take to the harness straight away, but for others it takes time.Just keep at it & go at Makenas pace.
2. RobertsKitty, We shall look forward to having a full report from you when you have purchased one & your grey has road tested it
3. Judy i couldn't agree more with you. I too have thought about Zooky & mende since you started this thread. Depression is often a taboo subject that people dont want to talk about & i think if we are honest many of us have had dark days in our lives, unfortunately some more than others. Hopefully we can give Zooky the strength to pull through this hard time she is having. Zooky you & mende are in my prayers & i hope we hear from you soon.
4. Thanks Joe, you can get back to making the chicken soup now

12. Some good advice MrSpock I agree it looks like dryness to me, my rescue grey came to me 8 weeks ago with very similiar looking feathers,i was informed she had never had a water mist & she was going through her first molt.A good misting everyother day & an improved diet has done it for mine.

14. I agree with you Dan. As you know mine have playgyms, various perches, java wood etc..they have a good variation of textures to chew & explore. I havent heard of bottlebrush & would have to look into it more.
15. What a good find, i think all bird food companies should offer small free samples, this would allow us to try our birds on their products, if we like we go back & buy Saves us bird owners spending a fortune on the minimum size package only to find out our birds wont eat it
16. Ah bless hope your grandson is ok Dan. As you say i think as adults we need to guide our younger family members in the right direction as to what is acceptable behaviour around our birds.
17. Thanks for that information Trina
18. You & Jo Jo are in my prayers Joe, you know where i am if you need me Take care she will soon be well.

20. Well as you say , you wont be able to get a grey for another couple of years, but you are doing the right thing by doing the research & asking questions. I wouldn't consider a grey while you are still at home, especially as your Mom doesnt like birds,Greys are sensitive birds & would pick up on this negativity. They do need interaction with you as they regard you as part of the flock. You need to wait until you leave home & can commit 100% to a greys needs.

Post edited by: lovemyGreys, at: 2007/08/31 21:36
