  3. Thanks Dave..I have 4 greys who hate pellets ,they have a varied diet of fruit, veg, seed, pulses, various soak mix's + much more, dont worry to much about the pellet at present as long as your grey is getting a nutritional diet. There are many useful threads in the bird food room, you may like to read through them Hear are a few links about palm oil to which Dave was refering.. http://www.greyforums.net/forums/bird-food/68132-red-palm-oil.html http://www.greyforums.net/forums/bird-food/46302-red-palm-oil.html#46549 http://www.greyforums.net/forums/bird-food/46302-red-palm-oil.html#46549<br><br>Post edited by: lovemyGreys, at: 2008/04/03 00:10
  4. Hi renee & Welcome, Does he only eat seed ? does he eat any vegetables or fruit ? going cold turkey will not make him eat pellets.Has he been seen by the vet regarding the plucking ? Has medical issues been ruled out ? Did the vet say the plucking was due to a poor diet ? He may have stopped talking for a number of reasons, but that wouldnt be my main concern right now,id focus on improving his diet & the plucking issues.Any additional information will help us
  5. Melissa wonderful as ever,Talon is a smasher & know i have a TAG too im very bias
  6. AshleyKay i would say consider letting your baby learn how to fly & develop his flight muscles before you decide, many babies are clipped to young & dont have the chance to develop their flying skills & this may cause problems later on
  7. Tari see what happens when you let members enter their greys, Ive never seen such enthusiasm, perhaps now they will participate in future competions.Great pictures everyone.
  8. Hi WikiV & Welcome. The others have offered great advice & support, so i shall only add that i hope you win her around
  9. Thanks Judy i read & pressumed spray millet ! Emma can you clarify what you meant ? are you giving spray millet or spraying food with vitamins ?
  10. Hi Elizcas , Are Sam's wings clipped ? An incorrect clip can lead to them crash landing on the floor. Is something perhaps startling her ? It seems strange it is every few months, Did she damage her keel bone ? A little more inforamtion if possible would help.
  11. Hi & Welcome, as Dan & judy said some background on Charlie will help us

    Meats

The bio yogs are fine Emma, but give only as a rare treat.Try a scrambled egg or hard mashed boiled egg once a week, mine love egg
  13. He will be fine Emma just as i said those beans are best fed cooked to remove the enzyme they have in them, but your doing well girl, your reading everything & acting accordingly.Well done
  14. Ideally he needs to be eating fruit & veg every day, more so the veg,try feeding the veg in the morning when greys are at their hungriest ! you can try serveing it warm/mashed or but a fruit stick, like a bird metal skewer & put a mixtute of fruit & veg on it.The sprouts are good tho,im pleased he is eating them.
  15. Yep Spray millet is an excellent source of vitimins and minerals a perfect treat for most birds and all parrots.
  16. No problem, i dont think you have any alternative, he needs to see the vet & towelling him should only take a few minutes, dont hold back, once your behind him just put that towel over him, craddle him up & straigh into a travel carrier
  17. Hi, Here is a link for a hand rearing thread... http://www.greyforums.net/forums/bird-food/36364-hand-feeding-a-baby-grey.html and this link has a visual guide on growth... http://www.babygreys.co.uk/12-weeks.htm Personally i would not drop the last night time feed, keep this one as you know your baby is going to sleep with a full crop.<br><br>Post edited by: lovemyGreys, at: 2008/04/02 11:09
  18. martix how old are your greys ? maybe you do have a male & female, the bad behaviour may also be that they are reaching sexual maturity,A Breeding hen with Hypocalcaemia would suffer profound effects from it,it can produce Infertility,If she does produce eggs, they may be soft-shelled, which makes them difficult to lay and unlikely to survive. An egg-laying hen has a tremendous demand for Calcium, and if this is not supplied in the diet, then reserves laid down in her bones will be withdrawn to go to egg production. Are these pet greys you have or do you intend to breeed them ?
  19. Thanks guy & girls What interesting & varied jobs you guys have,We probably have the most intelligent members of any bird forums out there
  20. Oh Pam that is wonderful news,Im sure Dorian will return to inside when them hunger pains call Pam once you know what is dorians favourite treat, maybe a few pine nuts or sunflower seeds, offer them from your hand, the wild grey i had here with me growled like hell at first but just couldnt resist a treat from my hands Pam if you are confident around Dorian that will transmit to her too, she will pick up on it & it does rub off slightly to them. Right im off to check your profile
  21. Imme they are great pictures of you & Kenya, it looks like he is settling right at home,Thanks for sharing him with us
  22. stuaz if you are unable to handle him you will have to use the towelling method to catch him & put him into a travel carrier. This is the only option you have as he needs urgent attention to that eye. Here is a link on how to towel your grey,If done correctly it should only take a few minutes...good luck please let us know how it goes. http://thetrueparrot.homestead.com/howtotowel.html
