  2. If you are distressed then greys are clever enough & will pick up on our moods.I'd would give him a little seed in the morning along with either some fruit or veg, then in the afternoon try some cooked warm or mashed veg, then some seed in the evening so he can fill his crop before bed.good luck ,keep us updated.
  3. Are you sure his plucking/picking feathers out ? does he have any bald spots on him ? could he be molting ? A little history & age would help us, so we can help you more.

  6. Mark he definitely needs a set bed time routine, from what you said the other day he is not getting enough sleep, greys require at least 10 hours a night if he is in your living room with you, perhaps try covering him or turn the tv down a little & dim the lights, ignore him if he is chating away .He will get the message eventually.

  18. Spence The picture Ronda has posted is a natural position for the grey.Arthritis may be a problem that occurs with older birds, and especially with overweight birds, that's why the correct diet is crucial, also with the varying perches, natural wood that is available to us we can help to decrease the risk of our greys suffering from it when their older.

    monkey nuts

There is a debate to whether Mushrooms are safe or not. From what i know i would advise against feeding mushrooms, Birds livers are extra sensitive so even GOOD and OK Mushrooms could cause a birds liver enzymes to go high or low . Personally i dont feed monkey nuts, or nuts in the shell due to the risk of Two known strains of fungi, Aspergillus flavus and Aspergillus parasiticus, produce aflatoxins, which can be found in peanuts, peanuts in the shell and peanut products. Here is a link for you to have a read through... http://www.greyforums.net/forums/bird-food/29553-aspergillosis.html#29553
  21. Emma keep offering the fruit & veg , let us know how the fruit stick goes ?
  22. Don't over feed the sunflower seed, if you are giving a vitamin supplement i would personally mix it with some veg or fruit, putting it on the seed is fine but he probably isn't ingesting any. Pistachios are fine to feed but with any nuts dont over feed.
  23. Emma,Foods that endanger parrots include avocado, including guacamole, chocolate or cocoa, alcohol, caffeine, the pits of apricots, peaches, plums, prunes, and seeds of the cherimoya fruit, Obvious dangers such as moldy foods, under-cooked meat, or raw meat should be avoided.Raw meat is a NO.
