  8. Bless him Gail he sure does have plucking issues,I strongly advise a vet check to rule out any medical reasons for the plucking,if he has had poor living conditions, poor diet,no stimulation etc..these may well be a contributing factor to the plucking.here is a good link on plucking... http://www.greyforums.net/forums/african-grey/57890-an-insight-into-plucking.html#58060 We have a bird food room with many topics on feeding the correct diet so please have a read through them, any specific questions please ask,but the vet is your first step to getting this guy on the road to recovery & we will help you
  9. Hi Gail & Welcome, As Laurie suggests use the search facility,if your unable to find answers just start a new thread. If you havent already then may i suggest your grey has a health check up with your avian vet.
  10. mine head bob too & they do pant a little after exercise/playing etc.. When a bird breathes there should be very little effort. Breathing hard while at rest or heavy breathing for prolonged periods after exercise/exertion can indicate a problem. Any noises heard while breathing such as clicking, wheezing or frequent sneezing are signs of sickness; a bird should breathe with no noticeable respiratory sounds.
  11. Thats ok we will forgive you It takes time to feel your way around the site,Admin will move if need be

  16. Thanks judy, your up early Spence it can take forever to get them to eat pellet's ,Harrison's as Judy has said are considered one of the top brands. mine hate pellets, but with the diet they have,a good quality seed mix, pulses, sprouted seeds, fruit & vegetables i know they are getting the nutritional requirements they need,so i don't worry to much, i still offer them & one day they may surprise me. Here is a previous link for you.. http://www.greyforums.net/forums/bird-food/65794-pretty-please-eat-the-harrisons.html http://www.greyforums.net/forums/bird-food/53831-tips-for-getting-your-grey-to-eattry-new-foods.html
  17. I use a product called F10 not sure if you can get in the us, but yes check the pet store they should have disinfectant, i know you can get F10 on the UK ebay so worth a look ,just search avian disinfectant.
  18. I personally use the good old fashioned hot water & a scrubbing brush, once the wood is dry i spray with an avian disinfectant / cleaner.
  19. Sounds a great idea to have different tree stations/stands in different rooms. It will definitely stimulate a grey to have various places to explore. As to the amount of time they would spend foraging is an open question, they all have different attention spans, if something intrest's them then there going to explore, play. It is a good idea to teach your grey to be able to stay perched on a stand & amuse himself so you can carry on with chores etc..It teaches them to be independent too
