  3. 8 weeks, thats a long time Julia, but I am sure Casper will be fine and will be glad to see you when you get back. Have a safe and happy trip.
  4. I think if this is what you really want and will be willing to give it all you can then go for it. I say this because you say you have experience with budgies and cockatiels so this is not your first bird. Greys need a little more attention than those other birds but not so much that you couldn't handle. Most of us here work outside the home, including me, and my grey is alone for 9 or more hours a day, and she is fine. I provide toys and such to occupy her time and get her out when I get home for personal time and time out of the cage. When you get one don't spend any more time with it to start off with than you plan on spending with it for the rest of your life. Now if you want to start off with a smaller parrot then a conure is a good one, I have a sun conure that is a little clown and a joy to have around. So think about it and let us know what you decide to do. Welocme to the forum and hope to hear from you soon.
  5. How cute, Spookyhurst, adorable little dog. Thanks for sharing that with us.
  6. Thats a good question, Josh and I don't have an answer for you, I have a rust spot on my cage too and I have wondered the same thing. I'm sure others on this forum have encountered the same problem, maybe one of them will help us out. O my gosh, I can't believe I cannot answer a question posted, and I am supposed to be knowledegeable in greys.
  7. Well I have a grate that separates the bottom of the cage from her area so she cannot get to the paper anyway, so if that is the case it is safe to use for cage lining.
  8. Obviously not, cats need more protein, I guess.
  9. Its also the name of a popular beer too isn't it, Josh, did that have anything to do with it, I wonder, but anyway it is a good name, very regal sounding.
  10. Good point Lidia, hadn't thought of that.
  11. He's handsome and your walls are light blue too, same as mine.:cheer:
  12. Thanks, greylover, I aim to please.

  16. Well that is where a towel comes in handy to wrap them up in to do such things to them. That will be one of your play things to get your grey used to a hand towel. Use it as a hide and seek game or something to get them used to being in it, under it and not be afraid to be in it. Because you never know when you will have to use it for restraint. Of course you could also take it to the vet and have them pull it out, they can do it painlessly. Glad you weren't hurt too bad and the conure is ok.
  17. Grandma in the Courtroom Lawyers should never ask a Mississippi grandma a question if they aren't prepared for the answer. In a trial, a Southern small-town prosecuting attorney called his first witness, a grandmotherly, elderly woman to the stand. He approached her and asked, "Mrs. Jones, do you know me?" She responded, "Why, yes, I do know you, Mr. Williams. I've known you since you were a young boy, and frankly, you've been a big disappointment to me. You lie, you cheat on your wife, and you manipulate people and talk about them behind their backs. You think you're a big shot, when you haven't the brains to realize you never will amount to anything more than a two-bit paper pusher. Yes, I know you." The lawyer was stunned! Not knowing what else to do, he pointed across the room and asked, "Mrs. Jones, do you know the defense attorney?" She again replied, "Why, yes, I do. I've known Mr. Bradley since he was a youngster, too. He's lazy, bigoted, and he has a drinking problem. He can't build a normal relationship with anyone and his law practice is one of the worst in the entire state. Not to mention he cheated on his wife with three different women. One of them was your wife. Yes, I know him." The defense attorney almost died. The judge asked both counselors to approach the bench and, in a very quiet voice said, "If either of you idiots asks her if she knows me, I'll send you to the electric chair."
  18. Just google Harrison's High Potency pellets and see what comes up, there should be a site for the uk. Harrisons is the best and is recommended by most avian vets too.
  19. Well you go patch up Dan, I hope he is not too bad, and keep an eye on Jake but I think everything is going to be allright, lets hope anyway. Keep us informed.
  20. Well enjoy your trip and Chico will love you all the same when you get back. Have a safe and enjoyable journey.
  21. Dog biscuits, now I hadn't thought of that, I really don't know but I would imagine it would have safe ingredients but I would not let him have too much just in case it has something greys shouldn't have. Maybe you could find a grey safe treat that looks like a dog biscuit and give it to him when you give the dog the biscuit.
