  1. You mean the ones like this? {Nature-00020086}
  2. Bekkie it would shock you with what they put in the products we buy and I am even talking about human grade food stuff.:sick: :sick: :sick: :ohmy: :sick: :sick:
  3. Congratulations, Celery, you are a winner, and a cute story too, I loved it and it was so funny, thanks for sharing that with us. Keep up the good work.
  4. I think you made a good decision, I don't know much about the senegals, but they are an excellent choice for you until you can give a grey the attention it requires, plus it will give you more experience with the larger birds. Talon is right, you can add the grey anytime, you are so young you have plenty of time for that, so good luck to you and thanks for keeping us informed. :)
  5. Yes, Lidia, you did a wonderful job with that photo story, I really enjoyed it, and I think others do too. Keep up the good work.B) B) B) B) B) B)
  6. Thats right, Shawzy4, never say old on this forum, its always older, but look at it this way, you are only as old as you feel, and if you survived eating dog biscuits when young, then you are ok, hair and all. :P :P :P :P :sick: :P :P :P
  7. I like that photo too Tari, and the expression in the eyes say "I don't know about this, why is she pointing that thing at me".:lol: :silly: :laugh:
  8. Thats a good point, Tari and Miltie, we can get a lot of their toys in the baby department of stores, some of them are grey safe and cheaper by the way. I'm starting to look there for things for Josey, but I have a plastic chain that I bought at a bird toy site before I knew to look elsewhere.
  9. Works for me Tari, but if the jeans has rhinestones on it the better, know what I mean.:laugh: :laugh:
  10. Glad to hear this, Tari, and I would have done the same thing, wake hubby up because this is good news and good news is for sharing. Thanks for updating us on the progress of Topaz, I know you are one happy moma right now.
  11. Great photos, Geoff, the first two, yum, yum, I'm going after what is in the bowl.:laugh: Thanks for sharing these with us, Geoff, I love seeing the baby greys.:kiss:
  12. I am so sorry to hear of your troubles with your grey, but this can be fixed but it will take time and a lot of patience. You have not bonded with this bird and until you do he has the upper hand here. I think you should check out the website Danmcq included in his post sounds like it may have the information you need to turn things around for you and your grey. I guess the 2 month abscence couldn't be helped but it did a lot of damage in that since bonding hadn't taken place yet, you went away and he thinks you will go away again. Please don't give up on this lovely bird, I know you can bond and love this bird if you will just take your time and make it happen. Please check out the website Dan and I mentioned, I think it may help you a lot better than we can.
  13. I hear ya, Bekkie, something like that scares the bejesus out of you but it sounds like a good idea when you get more comfortable with doing it.
  14. Hello, Silentheaven, and welcome to the family, what a lovely grey baby and I love that name, Selene, sounds nice when it rolls off the tongue. Talon gave you excellent advice for handling her for the next few days, weeks, months and so on. I know you want to spend all your time with her but don't spend any more time now than you plan on spending for the rest of her life, they tend to get used to it and if you cannot keep it up she may get upset. Tech her to step up if you haven't done that already, but patience is your best friend right now so sit back and enjoy your new member of your family. Keep us updated on her progress and congrats on your addition to the greyt world. :) :)
  15. Gosh, I am overwhelmed at the outpouring of admiration you guys have shown me here, and I appreciate each and everyone here on this forum, for without you, we are nothing. I love coming here on this site and trying to answer others questions and comments but I admit I don't have all the answers but I do the best I can and if that is appreciated then I have accomplished at least something. I will perform this position to the best of my ability to not let anyone down and I love talking with all of you and sharing information here at my second family. I love all of you here at this forum, a few more than others, but you all will get my best that I can deliver. Again thanks for the vote of confidence, I DID IT. {Love-000200DA}
  16. Sounds good to me, offer him some cooked vegetables and you can mash them up some. But try different veggies in different ways, cooked, raw, cubed, mashed, sliced and so forth. Maybe he will prefer them a certain way. Good job dusting the oatmeal with pellet powder to get him to eat it, whatever it takes is fine. Thanks for updating us on his progress and glad he is doing well.
  17. Sounds like a good idea, gloves would have to be pretty thick or heavy duty to stop those beaks.
  18. You could google african grey breeders and see what comes up, narrow the search by state, check to see if there are any bird clubs in your state, or contact local avian vets to see if they know of any breeders. Those are my suggestions, maybe someone else has more. But that will get you started.
  19. Where are you located? United States, overseas or what country?
  20. Thanks Dan I did mean the seed guard, and I will check it out and see.
  21. Yikes!!!!!!!!!!!! maybe no gloves after all, I haven't tried that with Josey, but I'm sure it would get the same response. Ouch!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  22. Thanks Josh for the compliment, I think.{Emotions-00020074}
  23. Thanks Dan for the information, I did not know that, I may have to get another cage for Josey as a small area on the apron has a rust spot on it. Maybe I will check into getting that section replaced if I can, I have only had this cage for less than 1 year.
  24. Close but no cigar, I think TalonSis is the youngest member, now the oldest I don't know about, but I may be but what a distinction.
  25. Maybe you could wear a glove next time, I haven't been faced with this situation yet so I don't know how I will handle it. I'm sure in the wild stuff like this happens all the time and the bird either lives with it or dies. Glad it is all over and you heal up nicely.{Feel-bad-00020080}
