I think Jake is a little more resilient than you think, Dan and Kim, he has survived this long, chances are he will for longer. Just keep at it and you will finally get him to come down or figure out how to get him. At least you have found and seen him, and that is a good thing, I know you will get him back and I know this is tearing you two up inside but it will all be over soon, I know it. My heart tells me you will have him back safely in his cage before dark.

Falconeer, why don't you post a photo of the damaged beak so we can have a look at the damage done, I am just curious and I'm sure some of the other members would want to take a look at it too.

I think we discussed these same cages in another thread and if I can find it I will post where it is. These cages are lovely to look at but not very practical for every day use. I believe they need the regular wire cages so they have the bars to climb on, but you do what you want.

It could be one of those white doves some people release at weddings is my guess. But thanks for getting a few shots of it and sharing them with us.

Oh Dan and Kim, I am so sorry to hear this, and it is your worst nightmare happening right before your eyes. I cannot imagine the grief you are experiencing right now but have faith. I am sure God is watching over your loved one right now and you will find him soon to be safe and sound. Know that if I lived anywhere near you I would come and help you search for Jake. I will keep you and Jake in my prayers and thoughts so you may once again enjoy his presence. Don't give up Dan and Kim, I know you will find him and he will be so happy to see you and then you let us know so we can celebrate. This does serve to alert us to never allow our bird outside without either a harness on or in a cage or other containment. I hope no one else has to find out what Dan and Kim are experiencing right now. Maybe by the time I post this he will be found, but I am expecting that post any time, I know you will find him, I have faith and so should you. Please God, bring Jake home safe and sound.

Well thank you Josh, but it is no big deal, I just like to talk I guess, not that I have the greatest information to share but that I just like to share what I do have and that is my wit and a good time. I do appreciate each and every one on this forum and the love shown me and everyone here is simply astounding. No where else have I encountered such love and admiration for people we have never met in person. You say the nicest things, Josh, and I never tire of hearing these kind of comments, especially from a man, kind of makes me feel all warm and snuggly inside. You have matched me sometimes with the smart wit but deep inside you really do care and so do I. I am the honored one to have you for a friend and I love you very much for that, you have made me very happy and I am glad I have been priviledged to know you, you are a real gem and so smart for so young an age. You are going to make some woman very happy some day, too bad I am not 30 or 35 years younger or I would be after you myself.

Congrats, Barbara on your new addition to your flock, I'm glad you could take it in and give it a home. Nothing is ever free, there is always something that empties the pockets. I don't have any experience with budgies, but Dblhelix or Tari are good ones to give you some pointers on how to tame him.

Sounds strangely familiar to me, wonder why.

I mostly just read the daily newspaper and an occasional magazine, reading at night puts me to sleep now but it didn't used to, I guess getting older has something to do with that. Josh you are not a loser, you do read even if it is only magazines, but reading medical journals/books is a very smart thing to read. Don't put yourself down, I won't allow it.

Well congrats Kathy, and you are so right, he opens another door when one is closed. This was meant to be, I know it. I use a black king size sheet to cover Josey's cage and it is a pretty good size cage, it covers it real good. Yeah you can mix the pellets like Talon said, but put veggies and stuff in a separate bowl. Don't be nervous, they pick up on your emotions, she sounds like she has taken to you already, just enjoy her and take it in stride. When you get a chance, post a picture of her, we would love to see her. I know you are on cloud nine at the moment and I am so happy it has worked out for you. Keep us informed in the coming weeks how she progresses.

I know their beaks grow all the time, but whether the part bitten off will grow back, I am not sure about. My sun conure had a damaged beak when I got her, her sibling bit thru the side, and it is still noticeable to me. It does not hinder her in any way but it has not went away.

I really enjoyed that Spooky, and she knows what to do to get that almond. Looks like you might have a winner again.
