1. I agree Dan, that is totally wrong to clip only one wing and I would question the reason why a breeder would do such a clip. As for as Ubecrew is concerned, I would have the grey checked out by an avian vet to rule out anything wrong with one of her wings. Something is not quite right with a grey that does not want to flap their wings when they sense they are about to fall. I would do my best to find a suitable vet even if it means you have to travel a long distance.
2. Glad to hear you have a sweetheart, but refuses to step up, she may have some kind of phobia relating to her two previous homes that she either doesn't trust hands or like Dan described, she doesn't think they are a stable perch. You will have to work on getting her to step up but it may take lots of time. She needs to trust you and with this being her third home she is going to be very hesitant to do so. Just continue to do as you described but mix in some stepping up lessons and I think eventually she will do it. Just be patient, very patient, but at least she is allowing you to scoop her up and that is something that most will not allow, so be grateful for that.
3. It doesn't sound prissy to me, Barbara, it sounds like good sense, and I am in total agreement, the rest that disagree I say it is BULL.
4. I think you hit the nail on the head, Barbara, thats exactly what it looks like.
5. I agree they are needy birds, they don't call them velcro birds for nothing. I personally have never had one but I have considered it but decided against it for the very reason of the loudness of their calls. They are cuddly birds and that is what makes them so endearing but you have to be able to take that screaming. But please do let us know what you do decide to do.
6. You are unlucky aren't you Kristin, you poor thing, one thing after another. I didn't think birds had much trouble with worms but you have proved them wrong. I feel for you, you have had much to deal with lately with your little one. Maybe now after this is all over with things will settle down and she will be fine, I will keep my fingers crossed. Keep us informed as she gets over this and any new developments.
7. Thanks Tracy, yes not the most popular subject, but one we need to be concerned about for they will tell us lots about how well our grey is doing.
8. I know what you mean, Tari, especially my sun conure, I can hardly get a photo of her as she is in constant movement. Thats exactly how they look when fluffed up and happy, looks just like Josey, thanks for sharing these with us.

Post edited by: judygram, at: 2007/09/10 02:48
9. I see the pictures and they are lovely, Tari, they are so adorable, thanks for sharing them with us.
10. Yeah I have been stealing a few moments on my son's laptop, but I will be back Sunday night with a vengenance so watch out guys. My son lives about 4 hours away and we take a weekend now and then to go visit and do some things while there, like go to the Yankee Peddler festival this weekend. Nice to know I am missed, thanks Tracy.
11. Well Joe, the name of Stinky for a bird was not the best choice in my opinion, but it is your bird and if that is what you wanted to name it that was fine. But Serpico is a whole lot better name and I remember the movie as well. I like it better than Stinky, even though I call my youngest granddaughter that sometimes, because she is a little stinker.

ALEX MEMORIAL

I won't forget this day for a long time either, a very sad day indeed for anyone in the bird world. I cannot imagine how Irene must be feeling, but my thought and prayers are with her now to help her through this difficult time. A tragic loss of such magnitude, I almost feel like a part of me has died also, may Alex rest in peace in bird heaven.
15. Well we are going to have to do something about that Beccy, no woman should have to go without a box of chocolates.   B)
16. He has probably forgotten about them like he did the cactus flower jam he promised to look for and I haven't heard a thing, have you Tracy? Just kidding Dan, I know you are busy and you can take a joke can't you, if you can't then what good are you!!! {Feel-good-0002006E}
17. You are doing a fine job, Emma, and you have me cracking up with laughter from the mischief of your grey, keep the funny stories coming.

19. It might be time for a vet visit to rule out anything wrong with the wing, just to be sure, especially if one wing positions itself differently than the other.
20. Another missed Kodak moment, don't you just hate that.
21. I don't have any empty chocolate boxes, as soon as I eat all of them, I throw the box away, but they would be good for that indeed, thanks Beccy.
22. Thanks Tari, I knew I could count on you for this, thats why I asked. You are the greatest.B)
23. There are some Ikeas in the state of VA but not near me, but I will do a search and find the nearest one, in the meantime maybe some similar stores carry some like them, thanks for the tip.
24. Thanks Tari for sharing these pictures with us, so these fids are what you deal with every day, lucky you to be surrounded by them. I just love the granny birds.
