Yes he is, and he is special because he has some red feathers, although he might not keep them, sometimes when they go thru a molt they might lose them or maybe more will crop up. There is nothing wrong with them.

Hello and welcome to the family, Patricia, glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and your flock. Please read thru the many threads on various topics for lots of useful and helpful information. If you have specific questions you would like to ask, just ask and we will do our best to answer and help you in any way we can. If you have a picture of Tyco that you would like to share with us, we would love to see her. I commend you for rescuing these birds of yours, it amazes me how some people can treat these wonderful creatures like they do, but I know they are loved and cared for now. Maybe sometime you can tell us the circumstances that brought them into your life.

Kristin, I am not dieting, I have adopted a new behavior modification lifestyle, dieting only causes you to gain weight, and that is a fact.
-
Well thanks, Kristin, I guess I would like it to disappear overnight, wouldn't we all, but it didn't pile on overnight so it will take some time to come off. Thanks Kristin for putting it in perspective for me and muscle does weigh more than fat.

Well why not, 2finger, go for it. {Emotions-000200BD}

They are too cute, thanks for sharing them with us and I look forward to seeing more when you get them.

Darlene, I am so sorry to hear of Harley's demise, but it was for the best, at least he won't suffer any longer. It just wasn't meant to be, but now you have a new one and even though he/she won't take Harley's place, it will help heal your broken heart. Please keep us updated on the new grey, what you are going to name it and so forth, and we would love to see a picture as soon as you get one.

I got weighed today and have not lost what I thought I had but I did lose 3 pounds in a month, but I lost over 4 inches off my body. I will just have to go at it a little harder, more exercise and less food, I want to get this stuff off so bad I can taste it, which by the way was how I got it on in the first place.

Kick the bum out, it is your house and if he is staying there and not paying any rent then by all means show him the door. Personally I would never have allowed him to move in in the first place but that is moot now. And to top it off he is bringing a woman into the house for overnight vists, no way should this be happening. You have a young child that sees that this is acceptable behavior if it goes on in Mom and Dad's home and that is not what you want him to see. Show him the door, tell him you are sorry for his predictment but you have to set a good example and this is not allowed in your house, then shut the door after he exits.

Keys is one thing, I'm not sure I like the Ick and Bic, you can do better than that or I am leaving.

75 and need a coat, I don't think so. It is only in the 40's today for a high and I don't wear a coat, hate them. Calling for a chance of a little snow tomorrow, darn that S word. Bring it on.

Yes she is, Goldie is a beautiful bird, magnificent looking, thanks for the pics.

I wouldn't worry about it, Josey does the same thing, opens her beak very wide and kind of cranes her neck while doing it and you hear a little click.
-
Very nice looking grey, Jimmy, I am glad you finally got one, and I think you got a little red factor going on there too, look on the underside around his legs, congrats, that is special indeed. Did you know that when you purchased him, that he has some red factor feathers in him?

I love that shot of Topaz, that would be a nice one to blow up some and frame, thanks for sharing that with us.

Congratulations Melissa on your appointment as Mod of the photography room, I can't think of anyone more qualified, except for CD of course, to handle the job. You have certainly shown your talents using the camera and photoshop and we shall learn a lot from you. If you manage this room as well as your Mom does being an admin then we are in for a treat, she does an excellent job and I know you will too. She is very proud of you as am I and we look forward to having you join us as part of our team, you go girl. You are a very sweet talented young woman and you will go far in this world, and we need more young people like you and I am so glad I got to know you and your Mom, she is very special to me you know.

Both birds sound like good candidates for adoption and like Spooky mentioned visit both birds and see if one chooses you first and that would be the one I would go with. When you have time please introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us a little more about you and certainly keep us informed as to what you plan to do about these two birds, namely if you choose one or the other or for some reason, neither.

I think you hit the nail on the head, he is feeding off the excitement of the kids and continues to do it for the reaction he gets. Its best to keep him caged while the kids are in the room with him for their own safety, Zak could put a nasty scar on them that they would carry for the rest of their lives and you don't want that.
-
I haven't heard this before, so I don't know whether it is true, but I doubt it, we don't like putting anything in their water bowls but just water. I see this is your first post, why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us a little about yourself and if you have a grey, we would like to hear about it also.

Try soaking some pellets in apple juice and see if he will eat them that way, then you can cut back on the juice until he is eating them without soaking them. I allow Josey to eat most anything off my plate in the evening, she especially enjoys any kind of rice, pasta or potatoes, even chicken or venison.

I think he is getting a little over excited and you may have to put him back into his cage for a little cooling off time, also the young kids may be contributing to this situation too. Like I said in an earlier post, young kids are too quick moving and loud and greys scare easy so he is just reacting to that and because you are close you get the brunt of the reaction. You may also have to assert your dominance so he knows he is not the ruler of the roost, you are, so some more cage time may be the answer but keep some distance between him and your young kids.
-
Joe, you can't go wrong with it, trust me.

Hello and welcome to the family, Kelly, glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Zak. How old are your kids? I ask this as very young children shouldn't be interacting much with greys, they are too immature to be handling them. Most greys do not like children much for they are loud and quick moving, they scare them so that is why they react the way they do. You will need to keep some distance between your kids and Zak for he can do some damage to them if allowed to come close enough for him to get a hold of them. We have many threads here that you should read thru for lots of helpful information and some of the other members will chime in with their suggestions on how to go about dealing with the aggression from your grey. If you have a picture of Zak that you would like to share with us please do, we would love to see Zak, I can see from your avatar that you are a lovely young woman.

Post edited by: judygram, at: 2007/11/07 20:06
