Glad to hear that it is going well for you and Sam, don't you just enjoy his presence in your life!!!! If you want to allow him on your shoulder that is ok, but I would try to stop him from going up on your head if I were you. But it sounds like he is already working on his vocabulary and he knows what NO means. Congrats on getting him to know what step up is. Keep up the good work, OhSnap:)

I love that reply Dan, yes by all means let him stay with you, still being a young baby he does feel insecure so enjoy it while you can because as he gets older he may not enjoy the cuddling so much. Glad it is going well for his first visit home and let us know how it goes after you take him back.

I hope all the members are having a Merry Christmas today with their loved ones, I know I have and I am not worring about what I eat today either, I am enjoying it and will be back to reality soon enough. I have the day off tomorrow, going to spend it with my son and his family before they go home to WV, so I don't have to go back to work until Thursday.

Hello and welcome to the family, Jon, glad you could join us and I know you are going to love it here. Echo is a fine name and if it is your bird then you get to pick the name and I like it, I'm sure it will grow on the rest of the family. Since this is your first parrot, I hope you have done a lot of reading and researching because a grey is different from other parrots. You will find a lot of useful information in the many threads on various topics here on this forum, take your time and read thru as many as you can. We usually like to bathe our greys at least 2 times a week and some of us do it with aloe vera juice, it is soothing for their skin. I look forward to seeing some pictures of Echo and we all love seeing the babies with their adorable dark eyes.

Too late Joe, I see you are up to your old tricks again, but then that is one of the things I like about you so much so you are forgiven this time, but don't let it happen again. Penny I hope you have a safe and uneventful move and all goes well and Talon settles in nicely, I know you will do everything in your power to see that it does.

Hello and welcome to the family, Shaq, glad you could join us and I know you are going to love it here just like we do. So his name is Charlie but you also call him Mr Pickles, I want to hear the story behind this, you have peaked the curiosity in me now, please share that with us will you!!! Please read thru the many threads on various topics for lots of useful information and if you have specific questions you would like to ask we will do our best to get you an answer and help you in any way we can. If you have a picture of Charlie aka Mr Pickles you would like to share with us we would love to see him, he is still a young baby and we especially love seeing the babies.

Well its about time, BMustee, and Elmo is a good name, but I want to know what you have been calling him since you have had him?:laugh: You and Elmo have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Yah she finally gave him a name, sorry I am just giving you a hard time. {Holidays-000200B2}

Well I cannot see the photo, maybe others can, but thanks for sharing it with us, I can see your avatar and she is a beauty, Merry Christmas.

Wow Lisa, what a Christmas gift to have him home even for just a day is wonderful, soon it will be for a lifetime, good luck with your new guy and Merry Christmas.

Its been several days now, Wasp45, we have not heard anything more about your grey, I am concerned about how it is doing and whether you have been able to get any help for it, please let us know something, we care.

Very good girls, I agree wholeheartedly, veggies over fruit is always good and you are right to limit the grapes.
-
How often do you eat fast food? I have almost given up fast food since I have been more health conscious. Do you feed it to your Parrot? No Do you eat chips and cookies at home? Not any more. I am having a few cookies this week due to Christmas but not on a regular basis. And Josey does not eat cookies either.

I know you will enjoy yourself even though you are away from the two you love but the 30th will be here before you know it and you will be back home. Don't you worry about Andrew, we will take care of him for ya.
-
Thanks Penny for sharing that with us, I haven't seen that before but it is so true, it only takes a second to extend to a serviceperson but it means so much.
-
Heather that is a cute little gecko, so is it unusual for you to be handling her like that, with your hands I mean? I wish you luck with the breeding and keep us updated on how it goes and thanks for sharing some pictures with us.

Hello and welcome to the family, Jenny, glad you could join us and I know you are going to love it her like we do. So you are new to the world of parrots and a first time grey owner and I'm sure you are finding out that they are awesome creatures and why we love them so much. Please read thru the many threads on various topics for lots of useful information that might answer some of the questions you may have, but feel free to ask us any specific questions and we will do our best to answer and help you in any way we can. If you have a picture of Alex you would like to share with us we would love to see him.

Greys are just like small children, they have to be able to entertain themselves and not have someone keep them occupied all the time.

If he is screaming by 9:30 then he may be indicating he is more than ready for bed, they are all different in how they react to things. Josey goes to bed between 9:30 and 10:00 but she does not scream, if she is out of her cage she just starts drifting off to sleep sitting on her perch and then I put her in for the night. But it sounds to me like he is getting plenty of attention just make sure he gets some one on one time with you every day that is different from just being out of the cage. Since this is a rescue bird he may have some behaviors that pertain to his former life and maybe he had to scream to get what he needed.

Hello and welcome to the family, Wasp45, glad you could join us and I know you are going to love it here. You say Lucky is having a discharge from his left ear, no that is not normal and I would take him in to see an avian vet ASAP, he might need some antibiotics. Please read thru the many threads on various topics for lots of useful information. If you have specific questions just ask and we will do our best to answer and help you in any way we can. If you have a picture of Lucky you would like to share with us we would love to see him.

One suggestion, since the quaker was there before Echo, always feed, water, take him out of the cage and etc before you do Echo, that lets him know he still has his place, does not mean you don't love Echo but that the bird that was there first has first place. Glad to hear it is going good for you, keep us informed.

There is always one in the bunch, I will look forward to seeing some pictures of Mozart and Rainbow.
-
I get a lot of stuff from www.drsfostersmith.com and they run specials sometimes but I have shopped at different stores.
-
Well take it slowly at first, let him get used to it before you stick him in it, don't want to stress him out over it. He may be scared of it at first, especially being an older bird, but he will come around and it will be his safe place. Thanks for the vote of confidence, its nice to know we have helped you at least a little but I think you will do fine.

Nychsa wrote: That would have been a sight for sore eyes and I would have been laughing too at that, thanks for sharing that little tidbit with us. They certainly can make us laugh with all their antics and words. I don't consider Sunny's calls as screaming but a non bird person does but you get used to it and it is not like she does it all the time, just at certain times. I love her to death and she was my first parrot and got me hooked and then I had to have another, so therefore I ended up with Josey and they are both great birds.
