Bailey, its like waiting for Christmas morning and I understand where you are coming from. I remember back to when I first got Josey, she is the biggest parrot I own, I also have a sun conure and I was so excited and a little apprehensive of bringing her home. But you get over it real quickly and now I wonder how I got along without her for so long a time. And as for sharing your grey, you never know it may choose your bf as it's favorite, they do make that selection on their own. I understand your addiction to this site, I find I cannot stay away for long myself, sometimes I think I have an umbilical cord attached.

Thats wonderful Hannah that she lets you do so much to her and so soon too. Keep on with the new things, just do short sessions so she will not get stressed out over it. That great that she will let you touch her all over, keep it up for it will come in handy for the future. Go easy on the sunflower seeds, you don't want to give her too many at a time.

Joe is right, you cannot cancel your vacation and holiday time just because you have a bird or birds. Everyone needs time away from home to enjoy life and all it offers, some kind of arrangements should be made to accomodate that be it somewhere for it to stay while you are gone or someone to come in and take care of it while you are away.

How sweet is that, Hannah, thanks for sharing some more pics with us.

Laurie, take some of that oatmeal and put a little baby food like the sweet potatoes into it and offer it to Klaus and see if he goes for that too.

Hello Leigh, and welcome to the family, glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Muggs, I like his name. You have had him for 7 years and I would say he has you trained very well. You need to ignore him some of the time but if this has been going on for 7 years it is going to be a difficult task to accomplish. He is a very spoiled bird and will not take to change very easily but it can be done. It will take time and patience and dilligence on your part to reclaim your life. Please read thru our many threads on various topics for lots of useful information and ask specific questions if you have any. We will do our best to answer and help you in any way we can. If you have any pictures of Muggs you would like to share with us we would love to see him.

This is wonderful news, soon she will be more willing to step up for you and eventually you will win her over, you are doing good, keep it up.

Sounds like an excellent idea, a ceramic dish would certainly be heavy enough not to be lifted up or tip over. And Laurie's idea of giving them old margarine and yogurt containers would be something you could put in it for them to play with.

Thats excellent advice, Shamelessmuse, and never leave them in the same room with the grey out of it's cage unsupervised.

The last we heard from Matt was the 9th of this month, we are overdue for an update on Max, how about it Matt.

Hello Marg and welcome to the family, glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and your grey. Didn't take you long to fall in love with your grey and rightly so, how can you not love such an incredible creature. Did you rescue this grey since it is 18 months old, it must have had a previous home, please tell us how you came to acquire her? I am curious to know and it helps to get to know you better to know the circumstances bu which you came to get her. Please read thru the many threads on various topics for lots of useful information and do not hesitate to ask us specific questions, we will do our best to get you an answer and help you in any way we can. If you have any pictures of her you would like to share with us we would love to see her. BTW, what is her name?

Well I finally got mine, thought they were bigger than they actually were, about the size of my thumb, but Josey promptly threw it down, oh well I will try again.

Good for you Laurie, that is excellent progress and I am proud of you and no you won't miss them. I am still plugging along, I missed the first of the week as I was under the weather but I am back now and going strong. Hope to have good news soon and should reach one of my goals I set for myself.

I told you it would be here before you knew it and now we look forward to hearing all the progress reports so don't be stingy with them!!!

Hello SheilaS and welcome to the family, glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and this precious grey you have adopted. What a wondersful story, you must be an amazing woman to be able to open your heart for such a special creature, not many people could take on such an enormous task as you have chosen. This grey has many problems and obstacles to overcome but with your love and devotion I am sure he will live happy and content for a long time. How sad that he had to endure such hardships as he has had, living in such conditions, not being held or handled and having to subsist on an improper diet. I am glad that he is responding well to your love and attention. Please read thru the many threads on various topics for lots of useful information and ask specific questions if you have any. We will do our best to get you some answers and help you in any way we can. If you have some pictures of him you would like to share with us we would love to see him. BTW, I like the name Ray also and please do keep us updated on him, we do care.

Hello Shamelessmuse and welcome to the family, glad you could join us and I know you are going to love it here. I hope this will be Greyce's final home, she has been thru enough with several owners already and she needs the stability of a good and loving home. It sounds like that is exactly what you are offering her and I know she will eventually reward you for your hard work. Keep working with her, sitting near her and talking to her and offering treats and with lots of time and patience she will come around. You can't blame her for her reluctance to allow you to handle her, it will take time for her to trust you, but she will. Please read thru the many threads on various topics for lots of useful information and do not hesitate to ask specific questions. We do our best to get you an answer and help you in any way we can. If you have some pictures of Greyce you would like to share with us we would love to see her. BTW, I think Greyce is a lovely sounding name for a grey.

Please read thru the threads for lots of useful information on all sorts of grey topics and do not hesitate to ask specific questions you may have. We will do our best to get you an answer and help you in any way we can. When you can get some pictures of your baby we would love to see her if you would share them with us.

Hello and welcome to the family, Tikitimer, glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and this bird you are getting. You do as much reading and researching as possible before you make your decision, owning a grey is a lifetime committment so be sure this is what you want before you purchase. Birdgranna gave you some excellent tips about where to purchase and such. Please read thru as many of the threads here as possible for lots of helpful information and do not hesitate to ask specific questions, we will do our best to get an answer and help you in any way we can. A grey can get along with other animals, most of us have other pets besides other birds and keep the harmony in the household, just be sure to supervise any out of cage time with the dog present. You know that adopting an older bird is not like getting a baby, more than likely it will come with baggage that may be hard to deal with, but with the extra time and lots of patience a rehomed grey can become an excellent companion.

I have taken Josey to the vet for trimming and I have also performed it at home once when I couldn't stand it any longer. I have some rough perches for her but she obviously doesn't use them enough to help that much.

Thanks for sharing that with us, Icerat4, Josey just listens intently while I play those videos.

Thanks Lyric for explaining about the Tags, I suspected that they were not pets as they usually have to have certain conditions for them to actually breed. It was love at first sight for them too, what a wonderful story this is, thanks for sharing it with us. This is what makes Lyric so special, and who knows maybe you will get more to raise.:cheer:
