Thanks for the update Sam and yes it takes time for him to trust you, just be patient and it will happen.
Sounds like you will have a talker soon if he is already trying to say a few words but at this point he is mostly doing gibberish, thats what I call it before it is actually clear words.
So glad to hear that Dusty is healthy and happy. Some here give their greys the palm nuts on a regular basis and they love them, so far my grey does not, but I am working on it, hope Dusty will try and like them.
It probably won't but for your sake I hope it does, it always goes slow when you are waiting for something you have been wanting for a long time. I absolutely love my Josey:kiss:
Can't say I have ever seen any baby finches, oh wait a minute, yes I have, I used to have some society finches that raised some babies but I don't remember seeing them in the nest, they pretty much kept them covered when first hatched. I plead guilty, old age, senior moment.
OMG, he didn't want to come out, what a hoot that must have been Berna, thanks for sharing that little tidbit with us.
LOL, I thought that because she was clinging to the side of the carrier that she was stressed out but I guess she was just fine because after we got to our destination she was herself. Silly ole me.:silly:
Hello Thejoie and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and your quest to own a grey.
You are doing the right thing in waiting until you graduate to get that grey and doing so much research so you will be ready to take on that responsibility of grey ownership.
Also it helps that you already own several birds but this one will be a little different but so rewarding an experience that will last a lifetime.
Take some time and read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do not hesitate to ask questions you may have. We will do our best to get you some answers and help you in any way we can.
We do have an other birds room if you would like to share some pictures of your parrotlet and your Hahn's macaw, we would love to see them.
I haven't used a clicker either but Laurie is right, they don't bite without a reason and you need to find that reason. She gave you some sound advice, try that.
How long have you had this grey? Being 15 years old and you haven't had him long is part of your problem, it takes lots of time and patience when working with an older grey to gain their trust and bond with them.
Boy am I glad to hear that Fletcher was found safe and sound but sorry you had to make two trips to get him, but airports are notorious for losing luggage and obviously pet cargo too. Let us know how he adjusts to his new home and share some more pictures as soon as you can.
Too many in my book, just teasing Tiffani, you should have as many as you want.
I like Siobhan's description, cute in an ugly sort of way:laugh: , no really it is adorable:)
Maybe so Tiffani, it was the first real road trip she has been on, the other trips were short ones, maybe a half hour long. She only screamed a couple of times but then that is normal for her, otherwise she was fine. Thanks Tiffani for your insight as you have done this before and know yours act the same way.
Now that is one fine playstand and your Mom made that, she is one creative Momma, she will have to let us know what she used to make it, she is talented and you tell her I said so.
Don't cry Tracy, you will make me cry too and you don't want that. Yep she will stay home the next time but if I do have to take her on a trip again I may cover her slightly so the scenery passing by won't bother her that is if it did. B)
Hello Amy and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Biggles. What an unusual name, but I love it, how did you come around to naming him that?
I know all too familiar that feeling of falling in love with them more and more every day and you are so glad that you have him now that you can't imagine life without him.
Well you already know that we do have a lot of useful and helpful information in the many threads here on this site and you did wisely to read as many of them as you can. Feel free to ask any questions you may have and we will do our best to get you some answers and help you in any way we can.
If you have some pictures of Biggles you would like to share with us we would love to see him.
Hello Marlow and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and this new grey you are planning to get.
What a wonderful thing to say about us and they are truly the beautiful birds we say they are, we love ours to death and know you would too. Once you get one you wonder how you ever got along without it.
That is one of the best things you can do at this time is read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do ask questions you may have. We will do our best to get you some answers and help you in any way we can.
She did Tracy but it kinda broke my heart to see her clinging to the side of the cage while Josey sat on her perch and did just fine, she is an old pro now at riding.
Laurie wrote:
Most definitely, Laurie they do and unfortunately that usually means they don't care as much for the snuggling as they did when younger but that is the way it is, like children they become a little more independent.
Yes it is Louise, I know when Josey attacks a toy especially a bell she gets very loud and rambunctious, you would think they were being tortured:blink:
