  1. Hello Ravarij and welcome to our family. Congrats on your new grey and like Dan has already said it is best to allow your grey to come out of his cage before asking him to step up, some birds can be territorial about their cages and regard it as their safe place. Please give him some time to settle into his new home and let him set the pace of when he is ready for more interaction, it can take weeks or months so your best friend right now is your patience. Would love to see some pictures of Isak.
  2. First thing is calm down for your baby will sense that but it might be better to wait until you have the house to yourself or the immediate family rather than bringing her into a crowd of people, she will be somewhat stressed just coming to a new home, new environment and new everything then after she has had a few days to settle in then you can bring other people in to get her socialized, now take a deep breath and relax.
  3. Piper you are one handsome fella, you look like you are commanding attention from the rest of the flock, surely you don't rule the roost for that position belongs to Talon but you sure do look fearless.
  4. Hello Karen and welcome to our family. Kizzy is an adorable baby grey and yes I can see that living room has a lot of bird stuff in it, looks like she is adjusting well and making great progress. I know we are going to be hearing and seeing a lot of Kizzy in the coming weeks and months as we watch her grow and mature. Thanks so much for including pictures in your intro post.
  5. It can't hurt, he needs to build muscle to be able to fly and that is the best way to get them flapping, I just bet Dali will fly soon when he gets those flight feathers back which could take a while.
  6. Greys live long lives, if its a question of not being able to do both then what is one more year to wait for your grey, at least you will not have to worry about teflon if you replace it now then when you do bring home that bird you can rest easy at least about that.
  7. In my opinion it is not money wasted, it got you peace of mind that Storm is apparently not ill and you found out some things that will help you with him so consider it money well spent, peace of mind is priceless.
  8. That little tail is so cute and she is adorable, when is she slated for homecoming?
  9. That greys are not cuddly pertains to the majority of greys but as with all things there are exceptions to the rule and I like to see the exceptions for a lot of us have greys who do not like to cuddle, my Josey is one of them, I can touch her most places but she no longer likes to snuggle so I respect that, those who have cuddle muffins enjoy it.
  10. For someone who has no idea of what you are doing you are doing quite well, I bet you were calmer last night and that led to better results but all things will work out eventually.
  11. This obsession of his to get on your head will be hard to stop but you must be consistent in not allowing him up there, just keep doing what you are doing and maybe after hundreds and thousands of times he will finally get the message, it takes time to accomplish this but if you keep at it you will win.
  12. Well you are going to have a busy weekend with Sterling coming home and its natural to feel a little nervous but you have prepared well and hopefully things will go smoothly, now to try to sleep until then.
  13. In the future allow Tyson to come out of his cage on his own and then ask for a step up, a lot of greys are protective of their cages and do not like the intrusion of hands inside, they view their cage as their safety zone so you might have been lucky this time. One thing you might do that I do with my grey who is not clipped but doesn't fly, she spends some time on the top of her cage playing with some toys I have hung on the outside of her cage. She does spend some time on my shoulder or sitting nearby me as I watch tv or use the computer. She will also get down on the floor and go on walkabout or come over to me when she wants to be close by. You might want to purchase a floor playstand, I have several that I use and they can be taken to different rooms, you can also make one yourself, just look thru the toys and playstands room for lots of ideas and suggestions. Of course this is the honeymoon phase and is early in the relationship so be prepared for more of Tyson's true personality to come out but it sounds like you two are off to a great start.
  14. Congrats on bringing Greycie home and she is adorable as I was able to view it also, I like the spelling of the name too so by all means call her that. I would work on getting her used to a travel carrier instead of having her out in the car when traveling, she could prove to be a distraction and if something happened and she got out you might never find her, best to transport birds in some type of carrier.
  15. Congrats on Loki's homecoming, glad to hear it is going well but you found out why greys need their sleep, they are grumpy and no one wants a grump for a grey so make sure he gets his sleep. He does need time to settle into his new home and the daughters might have overdone it but glad you put a rein on that but the picture you shared of him is so cute, what an adorable baby he is, looking forward to hearing lots more about Loki.
  16. There are plenty of suggestions for what to feed your grey in the bird food room so take a look around the threads there for lots of ideas.
  17. Yes we had a cold weekend here in Virginia also but heard it was lovely in Britain, lucky you to be able to take Alfie out for some sunshine.
  18. Some of those lurkers are members who are just checking to see what is going on without logging in, I do that at times and if there is a thread I want to reply to or take care of I log in and do so, I am sure some other members do the same.
  19. I am so sorry Deby for your loss of DJ and hopefully you will have some answers from the necropsy, now she flies free over the Rainbow Bridge.
  20. Well Ana Grey is almost old enough but not Sterling Gris, it just looks to me like they are getting along real well, in that one picture it looks like Ana Grey is trying to feed Sterling but not to worry as Dave says the two species do not intermix on their own, I would just let them alone, I know many on this forum who have more than one grey would love to have your problem. They do look sweet together, enjoy Janet.
  21. I can view it on my computer and it is not a new computer either so maybe it has something to do with newer ones but I see it Karen.
  22. One thing you can do is when he flies at you stick your arm up to deflect him away from you, he will soon get the message but if this is recent behavior then something triggered it and you will have to find it out to help you deal with it. Since you have an 8 month old baby do you spend as much time with your grey as you used to? If not then he may be jealous of the new baby, when you have been accustomed to having a certain amount of time with your family then he may be feeling he is being left out. I hate to say it but a clip of his wings may be in order so the flying attacks will not be a problem but we usually don't advocate wing clipping here for it is a bird's right to be able to do what birds do and that is fly. I have not had much experience with this type of behavior but some of our other members do and maybe they will chime in with their suggestions.
  23. Happy Birthday Kitt4kaz, hope it is the best one yet.

  24. This is my cockatiel I adopted, her name is Gypsy.
  25. I have to comment on the cockatiels, they are no dirtier or boring than any other bird, in fact my tiel is probably the cleanest of the three birds I have. I used to think that tiels were not for me but I got the opportunity to adopt one when a tiel landed in my backyard, I captured her and fed her as she was so hungry, I tried to find who she belonged to but to no avail so I gave her a home as she surely would have been snapped up by one of the hawks we are always seeing around our place in the country. She has turned out to be a delight to have around, so inquisitive and she loves to go check out the other two bird's cages for something they have to eat that she does not, she loves to sit on my shoulder when watching tv and preening sometimes she preens me so I have changed my mind about tiels, they are delightful birds and come in many different color combinations. But budgies are good first birds too and reasonable in price as is tiels.
