Congrats on getting your baby grey and it is still a baby even if only just months old, mine is still considered a baby at 2 years of age but yours is definitely a baby with those dark eyes. It is a beautiful grey even if it is a little scruffy looking and I'm sure a name will come to mind very soon, thanks for sharing a pic with us.B)

 Don't take it personally:whistle:

You been talking to the wrong people, you don't teach a grey to talk, they choose to talk and say what they want to say but you can help by talking to him, even just reading the newspaper, book or magazine to him lets him hear words and phrases and he will pick what he wants to repeat, usually they choose ones with some sort of emphasis on the tones.

Eric I have included a link to a thread that has a list of fruits and veggies you can feed and just do a search and you will find out what is toxic for them. http://www.greyforums.net/forums/bird-food/59809-complete-veggiefruit-list.html

Andy you don't have to "teach" a grey to talk, if they are gonna talk they will do it on their own in their own good time, you can't rush it, just talk to him a lot and when he is ready he will speak.

Hello Andy and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Billy. You don't need to rush Billy into talking as he will do that on his own and in his own time. They usually start mimicing sounds and doing what I call jibberish, making sounds that are like words but you can't understand them yet. A few will not talk at all, just because they are greys is no guarantee they will talk but most do, my grey did not start talking untill she was 1 year old, so you have plenty of time. Take a little time and read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do not hesitate to ask questions you may have. We will do our best to find you some answers and help you in any way we can. If you have some pictures of Billy you would like to share with us we would love to see him.

Hello Eric and welcome to the family, so glad you decided to join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Jasper. I am so sorry to hear about your loss of your wife and partner, please accept my condolenses but yes a lot of greys do bond with one person for life but that does not mean you cannot have a good relationship with Jasper too. And who knows he may come to regard you as his one and only in time. Continue to talk to him and spend lots of time with him and eventually he may come around. He has lost the one he was bonded with, the only one who could handle him with ease but with a lot of time and patience he can be persuaded to hold you in higher regard than he does right now. Continue to read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do not hesitate to ask questions you may have and we will do our best to get you some answers and help you in any way we can. If you have some pictures of Jasper you would like to share with us we would love to see him.

Well I hope you get it worked out for I hate to see you deny yourself something you really want.
-
Well hunny if I were you I might rethink this couple thing a bit if he is reneging on his original promise that you could have one when......he isn't going to change his mind, he is only putting it off long enough so that you might give up on it, believe me I know how a man's mind works.

Are you offering her any veggies, grains or legumes? She needs some of those in her diet daily. Have you tried soaking her pellets in apple juice or mixing with some applesauce or baby food and feeding them to her that way? Just some suggestions for you to try in case you hadn't already.
-
They all shake their heads, not just the babies and that is normal, they may be trying to shake off something on their beak, usually food so it flies off on the walls, floors and whatever:pinch: but you say he only does it when you speak to him, thats odd but then maybe he doesn't like the sound of your voice, sorry just trying to inject a little humor:laugh:  Why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us a little more about you and this grey.
-
Just go get your bird Kinga, you don't need your man to approve or allow you to have a grey, just do it;)
-
Then just go out and get it, my hubby would have said no if I had asked him first, after being married for 40 years I have learned to just go get what I really want and not ask for it, I don't need a man to tell me what I can and cannot get, show him who really wears the pants in the family;)

How about "Now show me yours"

Hello Akdeniz and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Frank. I can understand the problems you are having since you have only had him for one month and he is 9 years old and kept in a cage all that time until he came to you. It will take lots of time for him to be comfortable in his new home so be very patient, it will take months maybe even years before he will come to accept you as his friend and companion. Please read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do not hesitate to ask questions you may have and we will do our best to get you some answers and help you in any way we can. If you have any pictures of Frank you would like to share with us we would love to see him.

Ok now woman, don't let yourself run out of palm nuts or you will be in trouble, glad you found a solution:P

Hello Carlos and welcome to the family, so glad you decided to join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and your new Tag. Sounds like you have a full and active life and plenty of outside activities and now about to add a grey to your life which will add to the fun and will enrich your life even further. I will check out your personal website and I am envious of those who are knowledgeable in the workings of the computer as I use one but don't understand a lot of what makes them tick. Please read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do not hesitate to ask questions you may have and we will do our best to find you some answers and help you in any way we can. When you get the chance to get some pictures of your new Tag if you would share some of them with us we would love to see it.
-
Well I don't know how long you have been with your man but I'm sure you can manage to "find" a way to get him to let you have what you want if you catch my drift;)
-
Hey that works, Josey doesn't much care for the palm nuts but if it works for Liath then go for it.
-
Jax, why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us a little more about you and your Tag.
-
Those are lovely shots Dave and your captions are so appropriate for the pics, my favorite is the last one, thanks for sharing them with us.
-
You dang skippy I am, gotta have something going on or we get too dull but please no writers strike, I couldn't handle it:ohmy: :woohoo: So she has a secret weapon now huh, wonder what it is, hmmmmmm, have to put on my thinking cap on this one:whistle:
-
My gosh woman, I waited all weekend for Tuesday and now you make me wait for yet another day, come on now and get with the program, "tapping foot"

I wonder if the nuts taste better that way??
judygram replied to Tycos_mom's topic in The GREY Lounge
You appreciate things more when you have to work for them and that must apply to greys as well, those nuts taste better when they are more like a prize they just won for finding them. -
I opted not to put the leg band on my grey, I am keeping the band along with the hatch certificate but I have heard sometimes it causes problems and has to be cut off so why put it on in the first place. I do not have Josey microchipped but some of the members here do have theirs chipped and they have had no problems with them, I'm sure some of them will chime in with their opinions and thoughts on it for you. In the meantime why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us a little about you and this new Tag.
