Maybe Ruby is a very sensitive grey and things that others would take in stride give him more problems.
I have heard of the behavior and personality changes that occur when they get to the terrible twos, but I have yet to experience it myself and my Josey was 2 years old last month.
I would say the fact that he didn't eat while you were gone indicates he has separation anxiety and when you got him back home he ate like he was starved.
I am still inclined to think that something, and maybe it is something so small you might not have noticed it, has changed to make him act this way.
Maybe some of the other grey owners will have more thoughts and insight into what is going on with Ruby.
The name Josey has no meaning I can find, only the name of a character in a Clint Eastwood movie that I love so thats my story and I am sticking to it!!!

Yeah that one has been around a while but its cute and so funny, makes you wonder if that really happens like that, thanks for sharing it with us. B)
I'm guessing something happened during the night to frighten him, do you have any other pets, maybe dogs or cats that could have scared him because something is causing his fear. Is there anyone else in the household who could have scared him?
If he was reacting to you clipping his nails or wings he would be mad for a short period of time like that day or the next and not for 3 months. I think you will regain his trust but it will take time, just be very patient with him but I think you need to do a little investigating to find out what happened that night to change him like that.
Why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us a little more about you and this grey.
Mpr86, we look forward to seeing some more pictures when you get your baby home, this is so exciting when you first bring home your baby grey and I know you can't wait.
It still amazes me what stuff our greys are picking up and cat fight sounds is a good one, no wonder you are cracking up over them but that will only encourage him further, you know that:lol:
Dan I still occasionally watch Sanford & Son reruns on one of the stations on satellite, I wonder if Klaus is doing the one "I'm coming Elizabeth"
They are Tracy and small birds at that, their wings beat so rapidly which is why they can hover in one spot and why they are called hummingbirds, that rapid beating of the wings creates a humming sound, I can watch them for hours.:cheer:
What a thrill that must have been to see that nest, I know there has to be at least one nest somewhere near the house here where I live but have never seen it, how lucky for you to have one so close. Thanks Dave for sharing that with us.
Maybe you can use the grill outdoors, that way any fumes would not be in the house where they could cause any harm to your birds, just a suggestion so you don't have to get rid of it.
Hello Kerry and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and whatever bird you choose but I hope it is a grey.
The others who posted are so right, you are doing just what you should do to find out whether a grey would be a good fit for you. They do require some personal attention every day and their needs must be met for them to be happy and stress free.
Please read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do not hesitate to ask any questions you may have and we will do our best to get you some answers and help you in any way we can.

I would have had a heart attack for sure, glad you were home when it happened and she is ok but I bet you are still nervous about it still and thinking what if it happens again.
Thanks Dan, I think:S
I only have a problem out of Sunny the conure, she will try to get inside my mouth, she will stick her beak to where your mouth comes together and she will dig with her beak trying to get in, she cracks me up for I just squeeze my lips together that much harder to prevent her from getting inside my mouth.
Well too bad for he has a snowball's chance in you know where before he ever sees me in a swimsuit and I don't care who says different, it ain't happening:angry:  :woohoo: B)
I'm excited for you Ashley and I know if there was any chance you could make it next weekend I know you would, it makes it hard to wait when it is right there for the taking, but be sure to get some more pictures when you get Ace, we want to see.
