I have never seen a red eye like that on a grey but Dave gave the best advice for you to take her to an avain vet to have it looked at but it looks like the vet prescribed some antibiotics and other meds, please keep us informed of her progress and hope it clears up quickly.

Hello Tara and welcome to our family. I am so glad to hear you are doing your research before you commit to owning one of these magnificient creatures, I can assure you won't be disappointed that way for forewarned is forearmed, I look forward to hearing more from you as you ask questions and there are no stupid questions so ask away.

I am so sorry for your loss but for the short time you had him he knew he was loved and he brought much joy into your life, now you are left with the memories which you will cherish for the rest of your life, maybe one day you can open your heart to another grey.

[QUOTE=Talon;283567]Trancework. This is great information. I think this should be made a sticky in the Welcome Room. Is it possible for you to get permission from them for us to copy it? Yes please do see if it is possible to put a copy of it on our site, it just could save a feathered life.

They can be unpredicable and Josey has done the same thing with my husband.

We know you weren't allowing Alfie to play with bottles but its hard to keep them away from the things they shouldn't have but I hope you enjoyed the wine, he is a cutie.

I saw this on facebook today and thought it needs repeating here, I haven't used these particular bags but if you do please read this before you do again. REYNOLDS COOKING BAGS An e-mail states: "A lady at our club meeting yesterday brought in a box of the new Reynolds cooking bags made of aluminum and plastic made for the oven...They say you can use them up to 450...She used 2 bags at 375 for 40 minutes and after coming back in 30 minutes found her Amazon closest to the kitchen pumping for air and eyes were burnt from the fumes...Metallic fumes filled the air...There is no doubt this bird would have been dead in another 10 minutes...Other birds suffered eye irritations. She called the company and reported it.

Ray is right, they will test you for the rest of your life lest you be lax in anything or forget your place in the scheme of things, they say jump and you answer with how high.

Hello Lady Pym and welcome to our family. You are owned by a lot of creatures but I bet it is a lot of fun as you spend your time with them, you will have to tell us all their names especially the Tag. Don't forget to share some pictures of your Tag and all your other birds if you like, we have an other birds room, even for different species, as you can tell we love pictures here.

Hello Greyday and welcome to our family. You have an adorable little grey baby and I know you are excited about the homecoming and you have come to the right place looking for advice and answers to your questions.

Hello Constantine and welcome to our family. So happy you could give this grey a new forever home, it will take time for him to settle into his new home so allow him plenty of time and be very patient with him. Many greys can be territorial about their cage but just open the door when you are home and he will come out when he is ready. You can play with a toy or two while he can see you and that may entice him to come out but just don't force him to. You can offer him some vegetables but he might not eat them, don't worry about that right now as you have plenty of time to get him over on a healthier diet, you need to work on building the trust between the two of you right now and that may take some time since he is not used to being out of his cage or socialized. Btw, what is his name and if you have some pictures of him you would share with us we would love to see them.
-
Another way you can try to get her to try some vegetables is to eat some yourself in front of her, let her see you eat it and enjoy it, sometimes thats all it takes is for them to see you enjoy eating food in front of them and they have to have it too. The important thing is to keep trying, just because she tosses it today, tomorrow and into next week or month, she may eventually try some and like it.

Bless his little pea picking heart, its great that you could take him with you when you are away from home but it only takes a few days for him to regress back into plucking himself again but if you are going to be home soon then hopefully things will return to normal. Poor dear has had a rough life before coming to you Dee but we have heard of his remarkable return to normalcy from the updates you have so kindly provided and I am looking forward to you being back to posting more often.

Hello Tania and welcome to our family. So glad you could open your home and your heart for Lola and she sounds like a delightful grey, she just needs time to settle into her new home so over the next few weeks and months be very patient with her as this process takes time. Pellets are not necessary for their health if you feed a varied fresh diet with plenty of vegetables, there is a thread in the bird food room that lists vegetables and fruits you can offer, be sure to fix them in different ways to see which way she prefers them and even if she doesn't touch them right now eventually she may try them.
-
She looks good in the last two pictures, looks to be standing ok but time will tell if she has any problems perching but it certainly looks very promising, it also seems apparent that you have already decided to take her which makes me very happy and I think you will find she will probably get around very well, after all she doesn't know she is any different from other greys.

how to get rid of cigarette smoke smell on bird
judygram replied to dkg362's topic in The GREY Lounge
Sadly we haven't heard any more about this grey since this thread is almost 4 years old, I hope they got the problem solved and things are going well. -
Sometimes something spooks them, it could have been anything and when frightened like that they will fly into things they don't usually do, my tiel does fly around the room at times but I have had a scary moment or two with her flying into the window and being disoriented for a bit but she gets over it. Birds have such good eyesight they notice things we might not but the important thing is not to beat yourself up over it, sh** happens.
