  1. That was so sweet of Pogo and I bet he meant every word of it, you are allowed to gloat, I would too if in your shoes, congrats Mom and thanks for sharing that with us. {Love-000200BF}
  2. I guess they can vary can't they Pat, yours is one of the exceptional ones I'm sure and my vet has done the same thing but not all are alike, some are more interested in how much money they can milk out of you.
  3. Hello D4ngerous and welcome to the family, so glad you have decided to join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Mittu. You don't tell us much about yourself so maybe later you can give us a little more information so we can get to know you a little better. Did you just recently get Mittu or have you had him/her since it was a baby? Do you know the sex? Do you have any other birds? Please read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do ask any and all questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. Do you have any pictures of Mittu you would like to share with us as we would love to see him/her.
  4. Thanks for the great update on Gizmo, he is doing real well it seems. I wouldn't worry about the foot, greys hold a foot up close to their chest at times, they are resting that foot and you should see this happen very often when they are just sitting on a perch. He is becoming more comfortable so he is relaxing more and becoming more vocal, you will see more of his personality now that he is settling in. They do like to attack and growl at those toys, bells especially are a favorite of Josey, she can get downright vicious at hers sometimes.
  5. Ignore it, plain and simple for if she thinks you are paying more attention when you see her doing it she will do it more. Love them unconditionally, is there any other way;)
  6. No I guess the red feathers could come in at any time, but I think most of them do have them as babies with it molting out, you can always call your vet and ask, Suzanne.
  7. I have one question, do you have any experience with hand feeding a baby grey? If not then I wouldn't advise you bring it home at 8 weeks. Most of us here do not advise getting an unweaned bird unless you know what you are doing because you could hurt or kill it. I think that is bullcrap that the grey will be friendlier and easier to teach if you get it that young, they are individuals and as such some will just be easier to teach and some more friendly, its all in their own personality.
  8. Well keeping busy will make the time go by quicker but it getting closer by the minute. I think Loki is the most anticipated grey on the forum, everyone looking forward to Tuesday September 9, 2008, it will be a momenteous occasion. Now I can't wait:S :silly:

Maybe with a little more time things will settle down to normal but you have made great progress so keep up the good work and thanks for updating us, we like to be kept informed.

    Cat Food?

If I am not mistaken that residual saliva from the cat's mouth could be deadly for your grey, Carolyn, you may have to feed your cat in another room where Mika cannot get to it.
  11. What an adorable little fuzzy baby, that is so precious, no wonder it is your favorite, thanks for sharing that with us.B)

  13. The cat would win in a fight with a grey and maybe not because the cat is bigger but because if the cat broke the grey's skin then its bacteria would eventually kill the grey, thats my understanding that cat saliva is fatal to greys. Someone correct me if I am wrong.
  14. Thats whay they call it eating like a bird:laugh:
  15. Thats exactly how they are, permanent little children all their lives, but oh how we love them. B)
  16. Maggie sensed you were going to be a good parront for her, she knew a good thing when she saw it:lol: My grey, Josey has never bitten me either, I know the day will come when she does and I can handle it but so far she is very gentle, mostly just nudges but no broken skin. Yeah if Ponti thinks it funny to bite then of course it is routine, its expected;)

    Preening me!

Josey will sometimes preen my hair, I just let her have at it, if she bites some of it off no problem, I have a full head of thick hair, of course my hairdresser wishes I didn't when she goes to put my perm in, too many rollers.

  20. You have to ignore it like Berna mentioned or they will continue to do it more, any kind of reaction is attention and they will feed on it.
  21. Very nice pictures, Maggie is hamming it up for the camera, I think she likes being photographed and she is a beauty. I know what you mean by her climbing that skinny pole, it is similar to one on Josey's playstand and she climbs right up it to sit on the top, you are right, they want to get up as high as they can and when she is ready to come down she just loosens her grip and slides right down, I think she enjoys doing that too. Thanks for sharing those pics with us.
  22. What wonderful pictures you are sharing with us of your grey, the drummer boy, hey momma I can bang this with my beak, wanna hear:blink:
  23. What adorable little babies, this makes me want another little one, no 1 grey is enough for me, thanks for sharing this pic with us.
  24. Thanks for the update Greg, so Lily is a girl after all and almost talking too, she is definitely coming along nicely and that will be great if she continues to be accepting of both of you, great job.
  25. They do like praise so if that works just as good as a treat then so much the better. It varies from bird to bird, some love sunflower seeds, some pine nuts and some it may be shelled peanuts, you just need to see which nut Tobie goes for first if you put a variety in front of him.
