Hello Alipallly and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Wallis and Rocky. You will have to do a post in the rescue room and tell us a little more about what you do for them and we do have some members who rescued their greys and other parrots and they are excellent pets. Not that you need it but you will find lots of useful information in our many threads so read thru them at your leisure and do ask any and all questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. I would love to see some pictures of Wallis and Rocky if you would share some with us.

MY BABY GREY IS HEAD SCRATCHING...ANY ADVICE PLEAS

No I haven't but I will get our resident expert, Dave to give you an answer to your question. A lot of greys actually prefer the water to be cool or even cold water for their baths and showers, try it and see if it makes any difference. -

Young children take to swimming much easier than we do as adults since they essentialy swim around in the womb before they are born, thanks for sharing that with us Penny.

MY BABY GREY IS HEAD SCRATCHING...ANY ADVICE PLEAS

Her skin may be dry, do you give her regular baths at least 2 times a week? My Josey scratches her head some too but if she is molting or her skin is dry she will do it more. Since it is getting into wintertime here and we have the heat on the air will be drier and maybe a humidifier will help but bathing more often and using aloe vera juice will help with that. -
Caroline, this is a well thought out article written for the new owners of greys that will help them with their toy selection, heck it is even helping me as we all need reminders from time to time, thanks for going to the trouble of doing this for our members. B)

Hello Kim and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and this new grey you plan to get. You are doing the right thing in researching, reading and asking questions even though you have worked with many of them, it is different when you actually own one. You will find lots of useful information in our many threads so read thru them at your leisure and do ask those questions you have and we will help you in any way we can.

Thanks Pat for the information on the cockatiels for Ralph, I really didn't know the answer and so one of our many more knoweldgeable owners in that category came thru with the facts needed, karma coming your way Pat.

My Josey loves her potatoes too especially the sweet potatoes, I just cook them in the oven and she digs in, yummy.

I love that picture of Adaya with the greenery as a background, she is a lovely looking Tag, thanks for sharing her with us Kath. I am sure in time you will begin to hear more and more actual words but she has plenty of time yet to talk. Thanks for a wonderful update on her, she is coming along nicely and you are doing a great job especially if you are teaching her some manners, maybe you can give some of the rest of us some pointers.

Yeah the lights probably bother them some zooming by so yes the daytime traveling would be better, I know they will enjoy the trip but especially the part about being with you. Have a safe trip.

At this point it would be better to keep the grey with you as the first year is critical for you to be in your grey's life every day, this is when the real bonding goes on. Since you know she handles short trips just fine I don't see a problem with longer trips, just provide her with some food, water and a couple of toys to occupy her mind and keep her busy. I have taken my grey with me for weekend trips by car that are 4 hours long and she does just fine, I have even taken the conure with me, but the grey needs not to be separated from you for any length of time that first year if you can manage it so if you have a travel cage she can ride in take her along. Its not so much the changing of their environment as it is maintaining a constant day to day presence with your grey in that first year to form the bond so they know they can count on you. Be sure to let us know how it goes but I am betting she will be just fine with it.

Thats great to hear Marla that George is settling into his new home and doing some talking, he is getting comfortable if he is doing that. He may prefer your husband as his favorite but you can still have a good relationship with him, just different. Thanks for the update on George, we love hearing how a new addition to the family is doing and adjusting, you are doing a wonderful job with him. B)

Toni she might mean those itty bitty ears of corn that you see sometimes pickled or served at some salad bars.
-
Ralph you sound very excited about Spencer and indeed you should be. That is probably for the best to not bring him home until January as you really need to not leave him for a while after you bring him home, he needs to get settled in his new home and have time to adjust and bond with his new family before he is left for more than a couple of days.

Placing the towel on the bottom of the cage is about all you can do if she is determined to climb up the side of the cage, she wants to be high up so she can see you. Just don't stress out too much over it or you will have her stressed out too, she will be fine, David.

Hello Isobel and welcome to the family, so glad you have decided to join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and this grey of yours. Its wonderful of you to be able to take in this grey and give it a good home as it needs love and attention and you seem willing to make that committment. Poor dear probably wasn't taken out of the cage much or handled so you have your work cut out for you but with lots of time and much patience I would imagine he will come around. You will find lots of useful information in our many threads so read thru them at your leisure and do ask any and all questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. Would you share some pictures of him with us as we would love to see him. Btw, what is his name?

Yes move the perch lower in the cage and you did right by putting something in the cage to make it softer for her if she does fall. You could also move her food and water bowls lower until she gets more steady with her climbing. This is normal for young greys to be a little clumsy and she will get more adept at climbing as she gets older.
