  1. Since I never put up a tree this year I had none to take down, we took that trip to Disney World early in the month and when we got back there was so much else to do that I never got around to putting a tree up. I will be putting one up next year but it was so nice not to have to undecorate that thing, the older you get the more of a hassle it is to do. Bring on Monday my rear end, I live for the weekends.
  2. Hello JamesandRonnie and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you. Do you have any greys, or any birds or parrots? It is not a requirement to join but most of us here do have at least one grey and/or other birds, we are definitely bird nuts, thats for sure. Are you wanting some information about greys, are you thinking of getting a grey or do you have one and are having some problems that we can help you with? You will find lots of useful information in our many threads and do ask questions if you have any and we will help you in any way we can. You didn't tell us much in your introduction so please give us some more info about you so we may get to know you a little better.
  3. I'm glad to hear she is going to be ok and you did the right thing in having it taken off and in leaving the wings unclipped, let us know how she heals up.
  4. Bebo08, you should be reading thru some of our threads here for lots of information that will help you with the problems you are dealing with for it seems as if you have no clue to what you are doing and you have two greys now that need your help.
  5. Greys need to fledge and learn to fly before they ever have any wings clipped, they have to learn how to land properly and they can't do that if they can't fly. They will bump into things and have accidents but it is your job to make sure they stay safe while doing that. Clipping wings is a sore subject here as most are very much against it but it is an individual decision and if you do decide to clip make sure it is done properly by an avian vet, bad clips can cause lots of problems, and with someone such as you who does not know a lot about greys will not be able to handle.
  6. Exactly Caroline, I couldn't have said it better myself, thanks.
  7. I have tried dandelions before but the only thing about offering flowers and such from your gardens is that it has not been sprayed with any kind of chemicals or pesticides. Will be interesting to find out about the foods that Mingus listed and I do not know either, maybe someone can enlighten us on them.
  8. Thats the smart thing to do, if the leg is red it needs looking at and that ring needs to go, please do let us know what happens and if she is going to be ok.

    Baby Timneh

She should be eating them now, you may have to try different ways of preparing them, raw, cooked, mashed, chopped and so forth to find which way she prefers them, I would cut way back on the seeds.
  10. Josey would do anything for cheese, cheddar to be exact but she only gets her alloted amount every week. She is like most greys, she also loves any kind of pasta or even rice and loves sweet potatoes too. Nhrn, I would go easy on the grapes as there is really no nutrition in them, use them for treats.
  11. Yes I would definitely have it removed, if you read some of the threads here especially lately you will find some that have become infected or been hurt in some way by them, have your avian vet remove it ASAP. There may already be an infection there if the leg is red.
  12. Well from Dave's description I can tell that my sun conure, Sunny is a female after all, I never had her sexed as it didn't matter to me but she backs up to my neck occasionally and sticks her tail feathers up so she is a she after all, thanks Dave. My grey, Josey is a DNA'd female, I did want to know what sex she was.

    Baby Timneh

Your baby should have been fully weaned before you brought it home but a few will regress and I would talk to your breeder to see if this is the case. You can offer the same foods you give Keemo but the pellets may have to be soaked in something first to make them more palatible, something like apple juice works well for this.
  14. Sorry to hear about your wrist so take it easy but these things happen so you get to it when you can and then share a picture of the finished product, take care.
  15. You shouldn't have to towel him to get him back into his cage, if the only food and water he has is inside his cage he will eventually have to go back inside to get it, believe me if he gets hungry or thirsty enough he will go back in.
  16. Hello Swan and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you. I also have a sun conure named Sunny and she is a delight to have around, she is a permanent shoulder fixture as that is where she likes to stay and she can be very vocal also but I love her to death. Are you planning to get a grey or just interested in the species, doesn't matter really but most of us here either have a grey or love them so much but it is not a requirement to be a member. We have a lot of useful information here in our many threads and don't hesitate to ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. If you have some pictures of Joe and Rex you would like to share with us we have an other birds room where you can post them.
  17. I would like to wake up tomorrow morning, enough said {Feel-good-0002006E}
  18. Got one for me Janet, I could use a cold one right about now:whistle: :cheer:
  19. Hello Mrraju and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and your grey. Did you mention his name? If I remember from your other thread you are having some problems with him going back into his cage. I don't know how long you have had him but if he came from another family it will take some time for him to come to trust you so be very patient with him. I would continue to talk to him a lot and show him you are not going to hurt him and he will eventually come around. You will find lots of useful information in our many threads so do give a read thru and do not hesitate to ask any and all questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. If you have some pictures of him you would like to share with us we would love to see them.
  20. Looks nice Kimberly and now I gotta get out and get Josey some Legos, thanks for sharing it with us.

    peanuts

Aww man, Josey is going to be so disappointed, she loves peanuts but a risk is a risk so no more peanuts:(
  22. I just checked Cookie's pictures on flickr and he was a fuzzy thing when you got him and look at him now, he is so handsome you would never know he was a plucker, he is really thriving under your care.
  23. Hello Mary Jo and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Cookie. Thats great that you could give Cookie a good loving home with plenty of attention which he obviously needed and he is thriving under your care. There is a wealth of useful information in our many threads so read thru them at your leisure and do not hesitate to ask any and all questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. If you have some pictures of Cookie you would like to share with us we would love to see him.
  24. I am so sorry to hear of this and I feel your pain, if in your shoes I think I would be doing the same thing, how can people be so stupid, I would have my hands around their neck and squeezing the life out of them. But none of this will bring Shadow back but there are some things you can do to make sure this person does not continue this practice and that is to turn them into the authorities also alert the local bird rescues and everyone who has any power to put this person out of business. I know you did everything you could to help Shadow but the damage was done and it is not your fault so don't blame yourself, you were fighting a losing battle from the time you brought Shadow home. Please know that Shadow knew you loved him so don't berate yourself, he wouldn't want that for you but know that now he is not suffering anymore and is flying freely over the Rainbow Bridge. I know this will take a long time to get over but you will, just takes time but remain an active member here for I think you can use our support and we are willing to give it. Maybe one day soon you will be able to bring another grey into your life for I think you have a lot of love to give and it would be a shame not to. I will continue to keep you in my thoughts and prayers that your heart be eased somewhat from the pain you feel right now.
  25. You will just have to play it by ear and take the suggestions the other offered, you cannot risk your grey getting harmed so be sure to supervise any out of cage time with any of the other animals. But it might surprise you who gets along with whom in the end.
