  1. I am so glad to hear you won't be clipping those baby's wings, I do feel strongly about this now and I want to see my Josey take flight again, they were meant to fly and I think they will be more confident if they can.
  2. I never had this problem with Josey, she heads for my shoulders but Dan's idea is great for those who have that problem of their grey landing on their head.
  3. Some greys are closet talkers, meaning they won't talk in front of anyone, they only talk when they think no one is listening and your grey may be one of them, some like an audience and some don't.
  4. Hello Zicodee and welcome to the family, so glad you could finally join us after all this time and we look forward to hearing more about you and Zico. I am sure you have learned a lot from our site and you will continue to learn every day as I do and I have been here almost two years now. I think they all "fly off with our wallets" as it is no easy task keeping them in food, toys, cages and such, they are not for anyone on a very tight budget for they have their requirements. Please continue to read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. Thanks for including a pic of Zico in your opening post, saves us from having to ask but if you have some more recent ones we would love to see them.
  5. Well she has some of her flights but not enough to actually fly and she chews mostly on one side but I am patient for I know one day she will take flight and then her and Sunny can play who can fly the best.
  6. Hello Angie and welcome to the family, so glad you found us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Millie. Is this your first grey, your first parrot? Pretty much everyone here has a grey, a few are waiting for their's to wean but we have many knowledgeable members who go out of their way to help another grey owner in need. Please read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do not hesitate to ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. Do you have any pictures of Millie, if so please share some with us as we love pictures here.
  7. Welcome to the family Pete so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and your grey. So what are the names of your birds? How long have you had them? You will find lots of useful information in our many threads and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. We love to look at pictures here so if you have some of your grey and macaw we would appreciate it very much.
  8. Yes now you know what to say when it is bedtime for Ziva, quirky little buggers.
  9. Josey has a deeper more gruff voice when she mimics words and phrases that my hubby says to her, definitely more gruff than the ones she says of mine, sounds normal to me.
  10. If you want to know what sex grey you have you will have to do the dna test, you can not accurately guess from outward signs even though some say the shape of the head indicates sex. That notion that females bond with males and males bond with females is bullcrap, my Josey is dna'd a female and she is bonded to me, its all in how they are raised and maybe their own predispositions.
  11. Excellent post Dave and I agree wholeheartedly, birds have wings and are meant to fly, I know that now but I do understand those who do clip and would like to hear their reasons for doing so. Josey was clipped before I brought her home and I have regretted it since as her flights have yet to grow out where she can attain flight, she has chewed some of them off and I attribute that to that first clip. I look forward to the day that she takes flight and I will never clip her. Sunny my sun conure is flighted now too, I used to clip her flights myself but it is so wonderful to see her fly, she does fly to me but usually when she is startled she will fly back to her cage.
  12. It will take some time for those flights to grow out but Jane is right, don't beat yourself up over it, lesson learned and one day she will be able to fly again.
  13. Thats great to hear Jane, I guess it was just a phase she was going thru, glad you got it resolved and she is happy and healthy, thanks Jane for letting us know that Kea is no longer drinking blood.
  14. You will find most anything you need to know by reading thru the many threads but a word of caution, make sure this is the right fit for you and your potential bird for getting a grey is a lifetime committment.
  15. Hello Pete and welcome to the family.
  16. My sun conure sleeps in a birdie tent and always has. PitSoulja, why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome & introduction room and tell us some more about you and your Tag and the rest of your flock.
  17. I look forward to hearing more about Che Che and seeing some pictures of her, is it the same one you were talking about in the first post?
  18. Jane, it would be nice if you could update us on this, you posted this in July of 2008 so it has been quite a few months since but you did say you would let us know, well inquiring minds want to know.
  19. Of course she is, she is a female after all:whistle:
  20. Connie if you had BoobieLu's wings clipped then she is not going to be able to fly thru the house like she used to. Is this the first time her wings have been clipped?
  21. Teahteah, we need some more information about you and your grey before we can be able to help you with your problem. Some background info would be most helpful and why not introduce yourself in the welcome & introduction room while you are at it.

  23. Hi Faith, you are doing exactly what you should be doing to help him settle in, I can imagine he was pretty stressed out in that pet store and he will do a lot better in a home environment. Prepare to spend some time and lots of patience to get him to come around to feeling comfortable with you, poor thing, its hard to tell what kind of things happened to him at the store, some people can be very stupid with birds when they don't know any better.
  24. So far I have escaped having to give Josey any meds but if and when I have to I will deal with that whatever way I have to so she takes them. Thanks for letting us know how the vet visit went and I am sure he will pack on those grams soon enough with mommy's help.
  25. Yeah, another girl grey, all the smart ones are girls, thanks for sharing that with us.
