Hello Kat3k and welcome to our family, no you don't have to own a grey to be a member, you just need an interest in them but you will probably find it will grow on you.
We have an other birds room where you may share stories about your fids and pictures too if you have any.
You have only had this grey for one day, it will take much longer for him to settle in and feel comfortable in his new home.
Depending on his former owner's treatment of him he may very well prefer females and there is not much you can do to change his mind but please give him plenty of time and do not force him to do something he doesn't want to do.
There is much hope but it will require lots of time and patience on everyone's part, others will be along shortly with more advice for you.
Hello Kevin and welcome to our family, we are so glad you could join us.
Please continue to read thru our many threads and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can.
We really love pictures here so if you have some of Dorian Grey you would share with us we would love to see them.
Hello Paulo and welcome to our family, we are so glad you could join us,
Please read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can.
Thanks so much for sharing a picture of Caco with us, what a beautiful grey baby.
Hello Glenda and welcome to our family, congrats on bringing a grey into the flock.
Jill is right, there are no stupid questions so ask away and do read thru our many threads for lots of useful information.
Yeah I would be concerned about shipping a bird at this time of year, unless they have a heated cargo hold or can put it in the cabin it would be very cold.
Wow Caroline, I am really surprised you finally added the fourth grey but I know you will do your best to make Tully happy and maybe get him fully feathered again, if anyone can it will be you.
I can't wait to see some pictures of him when you get the chance and hear how he settles into the flock in the coming weeks and months.
Congrats Caroline, I am so pleased.
Thanks for sharing the pics of Mocha, might I suggest you share a video clip of him in flight, we have seen Cocoa many times but not too many of Mocha, how about it Sanggay, please.
Thanks Mareeee for sharing that story with us, you weren't about to leave Charlie behind and I am so glad you did what you had to to keep him in your family.
I have to agree with Kitty, take the bird with you if at all possible, most greys love going places with their owners and travel well.
I belong to a bird club and there is a member who I leave my birds with when I travel where I cannot take them along with me, maybe that is an option for you, check and see if there are any clubs or organizations locally.
I have a digital gram scale that came with a removable perch but Josey doesn't use the perch as she will stand on the scale itself, don't remember what I paid for it but it wasn't real cheap.
Thats great that the two of them get along and can eat together on the same stand, I don't dare do that with my two, nope I won't take the chance but thanks for sharing the pic with us.
Nemo is a cutie in spite of his missing feathers and I think things might improve for him now that he is in a home where he will receive attention and unconditional love, who knows maybe he will stop the plucking, thanks Erika for sharing a couple of pics of him with us and keep us posted on how he does.
That Cocoa is one lucky bird and enjoying that sugarcane, wish I had Josey some and Dee is right, your pictures make it seem like we are right there in the room with Cocoa, thanks for sharing them with us.
Still cold in Virginia and we still have snow from over 3 weeks ago but the bitter cold is starting to ease now, maybe some of that snow will disappear this week in time for some more maybe.
That is plenty of toys in the cage, you don't want to overcrowd the cage, they do need some room to open their wings.
The only thing I might add is one of those ropes that have an attachment on both ends that you can put in the lower part, the rope is sort of stiff like and you can shape it to your liking.
I watched this the first time it was posted here, that poor guy but was still funny to watch, thanks for the link to information about that particular bird, an oddity.
