  1. The one you had in the pictures of your weekend camping trip was fine and especially if she is out a lot either in the tent or on her harness, she would mainly be using it for sleep and such, is about the size of the one I have.
  2. Wow Lyn it looks like you all had a swell time camping and Alfie took it all in stride, now you know you can do this any time you want to for she loved it, its nice to "get away" even if it isn't too far, glad you had cooperating weather for it and thanks so much for sharing the pictures with us, shame you couldn't have been in at least one of them, let him have the camera next time.
  3. Yes I have heard you all have and enjoy it while you can, you are doing a great job with Murphy so keep up the good work Paul.
  4. We haven't forgotten about you either and you are on my mind from time to time but you aren't alone in your problem as I have that quite often myself and I am younger than you are but you get on when you can Howardine and take care of yourself will ya for we all think you are so very special.
  5. I call that chicken scratching and most all of them do it especially as babies, they tend to do it less and less as they get older but a picture would help immensely.
  6. This is interesting to say the least, why don't you post a picture to show us what you are talking about.
  7. Hello Devans and welcome to our family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Bioko, that is an unusual name, does it have a special meaning? Be aware that not all greys will talk but the odds are in your favor for most do but she has plenty of time yet, my grey didn't talk until she was one year of age and some here have ones that were even older so be patient and you will more than likely be rewarded with her talking and chattering away. Its not true that if your bird whistles it won't talk, that is a load of garbage for my grey does a mean wolf whistle and she talks too but usually they start mimicing household sounds first like the phone, microwave and things like that. Do read thru many of the threads here for lots of useful information and don't hesitate to ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. Thanks for sharing the picture of Bioko, she is a beautiful grey.
  8. Oh my I just saw the babies right after I made my post, they are growing so fast and look good, they are adorable and I can imagine that you are going to have a hard time parting with one of them.
  9. Its good to hear the babies are doing well but biting some, I would assume this is pretty much normal for they are exploring with their beaks and testing things out and if you stick your finger in their face then curiosity takes over but they should not be hard bites I wouldn't think. Maybe it is because you are turning them upside down but I don't think you have to worry about trust right now, that will come later and you will know soon enough if they like being on their back but I wouldn't force it. Thanks Dave for chiming in with your advice as Jay has been doing a great job but two heads are always better than one, Tanya is very lucky to have the both of you advising her or this would not be possible.
  10. Those are some great pictures Jay, thanks for sharing them with us.
  11. He very well may still recognize you since he was with you for 10 years, they don't easily forget, how long has it been since he found a new home?
  12. Welcome and yes please do tell us more about yourself and your grey or greys.
  13. Josey tries to bathe herself in her water bowl but I usually take her into the shower and try to get her wet, she doesn't much care for it but tolerates it, I also use the aloe vera juice on her. Another good book on greys is "For the Love of Greys" by Bobbi Brinker, a good read but I must admit that this forum has been more helpful than any grey book I have read, nothing beats personal experiences.
  14. Sometimes they get fixated on one phrase and like to repeat it over and over again but that was so cute and thanks for sharing it with us.
  15. To answer your question Bonnie I get it at any grocery store and Walmart, I get the StarKist brand.
  16. Spock is right, here in the USA we have a choice of what our canned tuna is packed in and I always choose the spring water packed kind, in fact I have never tried the oil packed as I always prefer the other. You can add onions and mushrooms, carbonated drinks of any kind and tea and coffee to that list of things never to feed your grey.
  17. Yes you can definitely see the stress marks and hopefully a new vet will be able to help him get back to full health, he has been thru a lot but he is a fighter.
  18. That is interesting Jan and Adina and I will pay attention to Josey's now to see if that applies in her case.
  19. More great Sunday morning pics of Cocoa in the park and is that a pair of mynah birds in a few of those pictures but not Mocha, thanks for sharing them with us on Saturday night.
  20. Wow that crew you got keep you hopping trying to feed them all and they are getting the cream of the crop, thanks for sharing what the fids get and when, it will be ever so helpful for all the new members with their first greys wondering what to give them. Its also gives me more ideas of what to feed Josey so she has a varied and healthy diet.
  21. Thats good for the baby is exercising and moving about, greys do seem to be clumsy when they are babies, maybe it is because they are a heavy bodied bird but the climbing and such is good, you wont go wrong with Dave's or Jay's advice. It probably would be a good idea to put your baby in a smaller cage for sleeping at night, that way he/she couldn't climb but so high, just a suggestion.
  22. Very good advice Jay, you are wise beyond your years and thanks so much for posting it.
  23. I think they look great, Tanya is doing an excellent job feeding and taking care of them, they look healthy in the pictures she shared and what a lifesaver Jay and Maggie have been, helping her with her questions and guiding her in the right direction, she is so lucky to have you two assisting her in this task she has taken on for herself.
  24. Welcome back Matt, its good to hear from you again and maybe things will be better for you now since we have the forum on a new format. I can't wait to hear more about Pablo.
  25. The baby should be about 6 weeks old now so do not put any perches up high until he/she gets more adept at perching but that idea of padding the cage bottom was excellent.
