What a cutie pie Egan is and that is so clever to name him after his parents by combining the two names into Egan, I know you are anxious to bring this little one home but good things come to those who wait, thanks for sharing the pics with us, he is a handsome fella.
Wow that looks really nice and it should provide hours of perching and playing time, she has everything she needs to be happy when she is out of her cage.
That is pvc pipe and you can buy it at any home improvement store like Lowes or Home Depot.
Thanks Morana for the good advice from someone who just moved. I would talk to Sully and let him know what you are doing, you would be surprised at how much they understand if we take the time to tell them as we are doing it. He will probably be scared some at first but just talk to him calmly and let him know its ok. Hopefully some others who have recently moved will chime in with their suggestions.
Molly certainly is a cutie and I know you can't wait for the day to come when you can bring her home, thanks for sharing the pictures with us and keep us informed.
Yes its ok to be a little nervous but don't let it show in your interactions with Ruby Julz as she will sense that and it may cause problems, just relax and enjoy your baby, it is a big committment but if this is what you want then just let nature take it course. Ruby will become a part of your family much like a new human child that you will love no less than a human baby, they tend to grab the heartstrings and never let go so sit back and enjoy the ride.
I look forward to seeing those "awesomeo" pictures you have, don't make us wait too long though!
I think you have made a wise decision which shows a lot of maturity and it is like having a child around all the time with lots of responsibility so when you do get on your own and want that grey you will be a better parront so in the meantime research and read all you can to gain all the knowledge you can absorb so you will be ready for that day.
A cockatiel is a great first bird or even a conure but a tiel is quieter than a conure, again do some research to find what suits you best and stay in touch.
I do want to caution you about having him outside the cage without being either on a harness or in a small cage, I see he doesn't have all of his flights but if he should get spooked and there was a little wind he could manage to fly away so I would hate for you to lose him so soon after getting him. I would like to see him spend more of his time inside with the family when they are home for they are flock animals and want to be with you.
Then he is aptly named for he is above the rest of the crowd and thats cute how he got his name.
Five probably likes the time out of his cage so he seems happiest when the door is open or he is out spending time with his new flock.
Please do share some more pictures of Five when you get the chance.
If I am not mistaken this is an older bird so it may take some time for him to settle into his new home, longer being an adult bird versus a baby so be patient and allow him time, remember Janet, aka Luvparrots has a rehomed amazon who is still not fully trusting of her so yes it can take years but it will be well worth it, ask Ray, he knows.
You can pretty much put it on anything you like, it does best to heat a little of it in the microwave and pour it over pellets, mix it in with beans, grains, rice, pasta or over warm cooked veggies, I have mixed it in a little oatmeal, just get out a small amount that you will be using and heat it to make it runny.
These are the pluses of having multiple fids for one can teach the other but they sure surprised you and wonderfully so and you were all worried about having two birds.
Hello Rlmd and welcome to our family, you have a great looking grey from the pictures you shared and that is a great name. Is there a story of how he came to be named Five?
That would be my guess that something happened to your grey and the face is bruised but a visit to an avian vet should be done to have him checked out but you have no way of knowing what may have happened.
Hello Todd and welcome to our family, you have a great looking baby grey there in the pictures you provided, we look forward to hearing and seeing a lot more of you and your grey.
It might be the best thing to wait until you are out on your own before getting a grey if your parents are unwilling to alter their lifestyle for using nonstick pans are no nos and the bird's cage should be placed where the family spends most of their time when home as they like to be a part of the flock.
Thanks Ray, sometimes we all have to vent over something but we bird people know exactly what you are talking about, too many people get greys because they have the ability to mimic human speech and that is the first and foremost reason for getting one and if their focus is that they miss out on so much more, I would be truly happy if my grey had never talked as she is an awesome creature.
Feel free to vent anytime Ray and anyone else who needs to.
Hello Sean and welcome to our family, so glad to hear you have a grey that named himself.
He is a beautiful grey and we look forward to hearing lots more about you and Coco.
Thanks for sharing the pics with us.
They both do look great there on that playstand and I bet soon it will be Eva there on the top rung as they like to be high up, thanks for sharing that pic with us.
Cocoa is such a willing participant in some of Sanggay's ways of playing with her and it shows how much she trusts him plus she takes a very good picture, thanks for sharing them with us.
