I was really hoping you would have Murphy back by now but at least more people know he is missing so the chances of finding him have gone way up, he is out there somewhere and you will find him sooner or later, just keep the faith and keep at it.

They look good there on their separate perches and I see Sterling has found one of Ana Grey's favorite spots, on the computer and it looks like she is eyeing him on it but whatever works, thanks for sharing it with us.

Gabby is a handsome fella, thanks for sharing the pic with us. His beak does look like it needs a little work done on it but the vet will take care of that when you take him in, being new in your home he should be checked out anyways. He will check his new cage out soon and to help it along hang some interesting toys in it and maybe put some type of foraging toy and let him see you put it in there and what you put in it so it will entice him to go inside to have a look, they are curious creatures.

Update on Beau & Argyle (as requested by luvparrots lol)
judygram replied to Joolesgreyuk's topic in The GREY Lounge
It is nice to hear an update on Beau and Argyle and yes you can come on from time to time and fill us in on what goes on in the life of Beau, you have been missed even if no one else mentions it here. I think you may be mistaken on Beau being a girl, I thought he looks more like a male grey when I saw him last September but then we all know it is impossible to know without a dna test and when you get ready to know then you will have it done but if it should show he is indeed a she then the name still fits, works for me. Argyle is like you say Argyle or as we sometimes refer to him as Sid Vicious is a lovely looking bird but something of a mystery as to his past so he keeps everyone at a distance, maybe in time he will mellow out some. So come on back now anytime ya hear. -
She may just be one of those greys who only like to vocalize when they think no one is around so you may have to continue to be sneaky to catch her chatting but she sounds great and I bet she will surprise you more and more with what she says, thanks for sharing the vids with us.

I am so glad to hear the move went well and I bet you weren't stressed about it and neither was he for he just followed your lead. He may need some different toys to inspire him to play again, maybe he thinks he is in new digs now he needs new toys.

I think you have made a wise choice in waiting until your baby is weaned, I wish it were illegal to sell unweaned birds as it is in the UK but it is the responsibility of the breeder to raise and wean the bird for they know what they are doing and can handle any issues that come up. We here have seem many baby greys die in the hands of members who wanted to do the handfeeding to bond with their bird and it is not necessary to do that to form the bond. Keep us informed of what goes on and you will be waiting longer for your bird but it will be well worth it.

Hello Rachael and welcome to our family, so glad you could give this grey a new forever home. I would open his door and allow him to come out on his own, don't try to reach in and get him out as some greys regard their cage as their safe place, when he is ready to interact with you and your family he will come out for they are curious about their new surroundings. If you have another cage you want to put him in move it into the room so he can get used to it, let him go on it to explore and when he seems comfortable with it then you can move his things in, again let him set the pace for you never want to push a grey into anything unless it is an emergency. You can mist him and see how he takes it, some greys like to go into the shower with their owners to bathe but you will have to experiment to see what he likes or will tolerate. If you have a travel cage you can take him outside on short visits to get him used to it then go on short visits somewhere fun like maybe a nearby playground to see how he reacts, most love going on outings and seeing new people, just make it fun and enjoyable for him, in other words don't make the only times he goes into a travel cage to go to the vet's office. Do read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do ask questions and we will help you in any way we can. Pictures are always welcomed.

Hello Casey and welcome to our family and congrats on your new addition of a Cag. I find it hard to believe that a 9 week old grey is weaned already, he shouldn't even have all his feathers at this point either. My grey was over 4 months old when I brought her home and she had been weaned right before that, it varies on the length of time but 9 weeks is too early in my opinion. Are you prepared to handfeed this grey if need be? He probably shouldn't be in a cage at this age, at least not a normal size one for he won't be able to perch really well, he should be in a container that he cannot climb out of so he doesn't hurt himself. You really should allow this grey to stay with the breeder until it is fully feathered and completely weaned of formula.

If you feed your grey a well rounded variety of foods then vitamin supplements are not needed, be sure to take a look thru the bird food room for lots of ideas and what not to feed your bird as there are some things that are toxic to them. Just give her a variety of different foods and you will soon see what are her favorites.

Hello MaryBeth and welcome to our family, I am so glad you could give this grey a new forever home, poor guy surely did need it. You are doing the right thing to take some time to get to know him, let him decide when he is ready for more interaction, the important thing is to not push him for more than he is willing to give right now, he has baggage he may be unpacking soon as is the case with an adult bird. Who knows what may have happened to his leg, it could have been that way since he hatched but in any case the vet will be the one to decide what if anything can be done about it, he seems to have adjusted to it as most do when they have always had the handicap for they don't know anything else. I hope it doesn't cause him any pain but I would imagine it would reveal itself if it did. You will learn much from reading thru the many threads here, we have lots of useful information in them that may be of help to you in the coming weeks, months and years down the road as it is of firsthand knowledge with like grey owners as many have shared their pains and gains. What is his name? We would love to see some pictures of him if you have some you would share with us.
-
Keep the faith Paul for you will find him, it is possible like the others have said that he has been found by someone who doesn't know you are missing a grey so keep good thoughts, sometimes when things look darkest it is right before the light comes. We are all here praying for him to be found and each and every one of us would help you look if it were possible, Murphy will be found soon, I can feel it.

So does Josey at times, must be a grey thing, will have to check out the other vids too when I get a chance.
-
Eva looks like a drowned rat since she does not have the water proofed feathers yet, when she gets good at preening and distributing that oil over her feathers then it will be harder to get her wet like that, thanks for sharing the pic with us. You don't have to mix the aloe vera juice with water as you can use it straight from the bottle.
-
To answer your question, if the follicles are still there then the feathers can regrow but if she has damaged them when plucking then they won't. Why don't you post a picture of her so we can see what you are talking about.
-
Since it stops after a few seconds I would assume it was just her way of expressing excitement at seeing you since she is regurtating for you, she may go thru the motions without actually bringing up anything for you but it definitely sounds like she loves you. If you have any doubts at all you can always take her to the avian vet if she hasn't been in a while or ever. About the plucking, unless you actually see her do it I wouldn't worry about it, they do lose feathers from time to time.
-
I can see how that could happen and I have never had muy fids do that either but it was a fluke and probably won't happen again, Sterling is still a baby and clumsy yet and it was a very good thing you were right there to help him or it could have been a lot worse for him. The important thing now is how does Sterling feel right now, does he act any different towards you because of it?
-
Murphy is probably going to stay in the area as he has seen you and just doesn't know how to come down out of the trees but he will and maybe tomorrow if not tonight, I will keep good thoughts that he does come down but keep a calm head about you.
-
If I remember this is not the first time he has escaped but keep looking for he is out there somewhere and will be found. Put the word out in the neighborhood and put up posters, go to local shops and alert them to possible sightings, make sure everyone knows to be on the lookout for a grey bird. Do not panic and keep a level head for the worst has not happened and he will be found sooner or later. Good luck Paul.

It was nice of you to let the parrots have a home but they have to let you have a small part of it to live in, lets see a little corner here and a small space there, yeah thats about all you get.
-
Amazons must be busy little bees and Louie is no exception, he is full of himself, thanks Janet for sharing that pic with us.
-
I imagine we are as excited as you are about your new baby grey Barbara, you know how we love the babies with their dark eyes and your baby is adorable. You are very lucky to be able to go and visit Egan and watch him develop into the handsome little fella you will be bringing home, thanks for sharing the pictures with us and keep em coming.
-
I love watching Cocoa videos, she gets to take wonderful adventures outside her home.

Obviously the name Five is attractive for there is at least one child born recently with that name as the middle name but you must be careful of what you wish for, they start talking then they don't shut up.
-
I have saw this before also but it is still funny to watch how that bird climbed up and shagged the man on the back of his head but he left scratches, doubt he will ever allow that to happen again but thanks for sharing it with us.
