  1. Happy Birthday Shana, you are still such a young person yet so hope you have a wonderful day today.

  2. Yes this has already been reported on here, I include the link to the thread that Bran posted yesterday about it: http://www.greyforums.net/forums/showthread.php?193582-Parrot-Breeder-turned-Hoarder!-90-birds! Its a shame these kind of things happen and keeping those birds in such deplorable conditions with them starving to death, the only answer I can think of is the owner is mentally ill but those birds deserve better than what they have been given and I feel sorry for each and every one of them to have to suffer what they have.
  3. That is so funny how she has you wrapped around her little talon, she was not going to be denied her attention, they do have their ways to make us laugh at them and at ourselves, thanks for sharing your story with us.
  4. Your fids are beautiful and that is a great looking playstand, my hubby made one, not that elaborate but my fids won't touch it, so much for that effort, glad yours is enjoying it, thanks for sharing the pics with us.
  5. Please have a look in the bird food room for what you should be offering your grey, seed and pellets alone just won't cut it. They should have plenty of vegetables preferably fresh, some fruits, grains, legumes, rice and/or pastas, some meat preferably chicken or fish and some nuts and of course some seed. I put pellets in one bowl, seeds and nuts in another and fresh foods in another bowl so she has 3 bowls in her cage, I leave some of the pellets and seeds and nuts in her bowl at all times and remove the fresh after a couple of hours.
  6. Glad to hear you had a good time as it is good to get away for a few days now and then and that sentence makes it all worth it when you get back and the fids were happy to see you.
  7. It could be that and it could be the breeder's initials.
  8. Shelly is right in that it does take a special person to take in a disabled bird and I am so glad there are people like you to give them a home and the love and attention they so desperately need just as any able bodied bird would need, my hat is off to you Joel for your big heart.
  9. Wow they are looking so adorable, amazing how much they have changed from the pictures earlier in your thread, that amazon had his beak full of food and he is looking especially gorgeous in this last shot but they both look healhty and happy, thanks for sharing the pics with us.
  10. Morana has asked some very pertinent questions that need to be answered before we can give you any advice as we hate to see someone buy some greys on a whim and think they are a pet that doesn't require much care or attention for the exact opposite is true, if you are truly interested in being a grey mommy then you won't mind answering these questions.
  11. Whatever you end up calling him he is a very handsome fella who has a nice looking cage, boy did he end in the right place, now it just needs a couple more toys and a heavy duty bell to make that cage his home. I would take him to the vet for any beak trimming as that is something that must be done properly and the nails too unless he will allow you to file them down otherwise let the vet take the rap for that too. Even though the picture is blurry you can see his eye is darker yellow than the other, thanks for sharing some pictures of your new fella.
  12. You are making total sense to me and I would be asking the same questions. It all comes down to the report after the necropsy was done, you should have been notified immediately as you have two other birds in your house and especially if it was something so deadly serious as Dave said it is. Neo was exhibiting symptoms but they were all things that could be contributed to normal events so lets not go down that path of blaming yourself for any one of us would have done the same thing. I too feel it is unlikely your two are carriers but you have to know for sure so the test for them has to be done. I know I would get some answers from the vet when he comes back to his office or else, he owes you some answers and maybe it will help to find out how Neo got that disease. I do feel for you Barbara for you have gone thru a terrible time but maybe some answers can help you heal from his loss.
  13. Thanks so much for opening your heart and home for an older bird and it may turn out to be one of the best things you have done for he seems like a sweetheart, just needed the right person to give him a chance, who cares if he doesn't talk as he has so much more going for him. I look forward to hearing a lot more about this grey in the coming days, weeks and months, heck even years.
  14. Ray is right, it is called blushing and is adorable when it happens so nothing to worry about. As has been suggested please make a thread in the welcome room and tell us more about your grey, how old, what is her name and other things about her and something about yourself if you like and do include pictures as they are always welcomed.
  15. Happy Hatchday Ana Grey, you have grown into a lovely little lady who has a mind of her own and makes everyone else know it, hope Mommy spoils you rotten today as she does every day I bet.
  16. Oh yes the birds did enjoy that, you may not have heard their approval but they listened, that is so sweet he played just for them, thanks for sharing that with us.
  17. I know it looks dim right now Paul but don't give up hope on getting Murphy back, chances are still good and he may be fending for himself very well so keep up the searching and he will show up somewhere, hope springs eternal and we all have our fingers crossed that the two of you will be reunited soon.
  18. Her prognosis does look good since she is back to eating and drinking and like the others said your medical background may have played a big part in how she is right now, not that she is out of the woods yet but you may have saved Betsy's life. I don't know where you live but you have had one horrendous experience with vets and even avian vets, I hope, no I know that not all of them are like this but you seemed to have found the bottom of the barrell with your recent experience. I do like Dan's idea to establish a good rapport with one you like so they will be more willing to work with you when it comes to an emergency. I will be checking back on this thread as I want to see more improvement in Betsy, she has been thru so much the last couple of days and deserves to get better so she can play an active part in her flock, her family. Not that we have to mention it but your fiance will certainly consult you about using any possible carpet cleaners or any kind of cleaners as our fids have very sensitive respiratory systems.
  19. Gorgeous birds Sanggay and that one with the yellow crest loves to raise it and I love it when mine does that, they are so pretty sitting there on that piece of wood, thanks for sharing them with us.
  20. It is possible that one is a carrier and the only way to know is to have them tested for it, frankly I think that is what I would do just to ease my mind especially since you have a new one coming soon, just my opinion if I was you.
  21. Aw Stephen he is so very handsome, what a hunk, no wonder you are so enthralled with him, who wouldn't be and its apparent that he loves the camera as much as you love him, what a ham Issac is. So glad you made another update, they are coming few and far between now but then that is to be expected as he grows into a mature grey, not that he is any less endearing but the babies are just so adorable that something new is happening all the time and there were more firsts then than now. I think he knows what buttons to push and you are a very willing participant, you two have a wonderful relationship that just gets better with time and we love hearing all about the details and video would be greyt.
  22. Carrots have always been one of Josey's favorite vegetables but I have a hard time getting her to eat broccoli, she just won't touch it other than to throw it out, I have tried it raw and cooked but she just won't eat it, maybe if I make some kind of mash and chop it up real fine and include it she might eat a little of it unknowingly along with the other stuff.
  23. It was a nice little tune and I can see why it was so enjoyable to you Dave, thanks for sharing it with us.
  24. You can always count on Dave to give you good advice and I would give the house a thorough cleaning before you bring your new little one home just to be on the safe side, its so sad that Neo had such a short life but things happen for a reason and now you have a new baby coming home soon and I know you can't wait until that day comes. You shouldn't have had to call to get the results of the necropsy as they should have let you know when they found out especially since it was something that could be passed on to another bird if the proper precautions weren't taken.
