  1. Maybe you haven't introduced the type of toys he will love to play with and some birds need to be shown how to play with their toys, keep trying different types of toys to see what may interest him but bells seem to be a hit with greys, my grey has a heavy duty bell she loves to slap around and play fight with.
  2. Hello Tyaris and welcome to our family, we are glad you found us and we hope to hear lots more about you. I assume you have a grey or are considering getting one as that is what brings most people here so give us some more information about yourself so we can get to know you better.
  3. What a cutie pie going to sleep with his/her head resting on your finger, how sweet it is, thanks for sharing that with us Jim.
  4. You cannot put another bird in the cage with Ajax, even though they are considered flock animals they do not like to share a cage even with another grey unless they have been raised together or are nest mates. Another bird whether it be a grey, a macaw, an amazon or any other species of bird has to have their own cage for they view it as their safe zone. Some birds do get along when out of the cage on playstands or in a bird room but usually they don't get along when they are in closer proximity to one another so however many birds you want to have you will have to have a separate cage for each. Yes I agree that having just one bird is hard to do as most of us have more than one, I have 3 but I have 3 cages.
  5. Dan is right, it doesn't matter what age the bird in need of a new home is, it would be a wonderful thing to give a new forever home to a grey in need and you have done your homework so here is hoping you get what you have wanted for so long and many thanks for considering rehoming.
  6. Then they truly don't care whether they get it back or not, I hope someone else takes that tiel in and gives it a new home as it sounds like they don't deserve to get it back. I keep hoping that Murphy will turn up sooner or later but at least you have the word out now, keeping good thoughts that a reunion is coming soon.
  7. Hello Amy and welcome to our family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing a lot more about you and Matilda. It sounds like you have a wonderful grey who is socialized with the family and a delight to have. I assume that is her in your avatar but if you have some more pics of her you would share with us we would love to see them.
  8. That Dayo is quite a character and he doesn't hesitate to let you know when he has had enough, thanks for sharing him with us and you must have a fish tank in the background somewhere as I could hear water gurgling during the vids.
  9. I am sure you have checked into whether it is even possible to take your grey with you when you move or all this will be moot but you will have to check with the particular airline you will be using to see what their policies are regarding birds on planes, it will be best if you can take her in the cabin versus the cargo area for there can be temperature extremes that could be fatal for your grey.
  10. I think it is all part of his settling into his new home and just two months is not enough for him to show his true personality, his chattiness at first may just have been his way of dealing with a new home and new surroundings so be patient with him as he adjusts and feels at home. As far as the screaming you will just have to ignore it for any acknowledgement of it will only reinforce the behavior, reward him when he is quiet or talks, I know it is hard to do when he is making so much noise but its the only way to stop it and it may never stop completely but should lessen gradually over time. Also it could just be a test to see what you will do when he does it, they are so smart, too smart in fact.

    Taco

I think she is just throwing you a curve to see what you will do with it and you failed the test, you should have just ignored her so she would settle down for sleep, they are smart enough to trick us like that and you fell for it hook, line and sinker. They will always need their sleep and I bet she gets hers but she was just trying you so nothing to worry about. I would love to see some pics of Taco and that is an interesting name for a grey.
  12. Hello Jana and welcome to our family and you aren't the only one with a smart grey but good having you here.
  13. Its places and people like this who make me sick!
  14. It sounds like you are prepared if the worst comes to worst, I hope you never have to put it to use but this is exactly what others who live where this is a real possibility should be doing, prepare for the worst and hope for the best, you are an excellent parront Robin.
  15. Happy Belated Hatchday Lyric, you are as beautiful as always and hope you were spoiled rotten, thanks for at least stopping in to let us know.
  16. How adorable are they and thanks for sharing them with us, you have a while to wait but will be totally worth it.
  17. Visiting him after he is rehomed is not a good idea for he will think every time his former owners come they are taking him home with him, if you feel like you have to find him a new home then let it be a forever home, just think how he will feel seeing his previous owners from time to time, it could be devastating for him and create much stress.
  18. Are you talking about our favorite or our birds favorite vegetables as this is a bird forum and most questions are bird related?
  19. Glad to hear that Rorschach had a good time on your camping/vacation trip and a little pizza isn't going to do him any harm, thanks for sharing the pics with us and hopefully we will see more later.
  20. Mikko you little sneak, been caught red handed or should I say red tailed, he looks like he owns the phone from the pic you shared, at least it makes a nice perch, thanks for the laugh.
  21. As you stated in another thread he may be going thru a heavy molt and is uncomfortable and itchy so he is trying to get rid of the cause of his discomfort by chewing at his feathers, just my opinion and maybe more frequent baths will help.
  22. He probably is uncomfortable if he is going thru a major molt and feeling itchy so maybe more frequent baths will help him, also try using the aloe vera juice to spray him with and try to get him as soaked as possible so it takes a while for him to dry off.
  23. Joy I am so sorry this happened but don't know what if any recourse you can take but do accept my condolenses for your loss.
  24. That was so special Stephen and shows they do show love in their own way, thanks for sharing that with us.
  25. Hello Ride and welcome to our family, I hope you are able to give a grey a new forever home but whatever bird species you do get you are still welcome to stay and contribute to the group and many thanks for doing your homework before committing to getting a bird to share your life with.
