They are all different. We got Talon at 9 weeks old. And she was fully weaned. They are all different, but at 4 weeks, I'd definately get as much info as possible and definately get advice asap from an avian vet. You have to be careful not to get too much food in their crop.
Congratulations! Wow, 4 weeks is young. Have you ever hand fed before? did the breeder give you any advice? And do you have a thermometer to test the temp. of the food. You have to be very careful so it's not too hot.
I rarely see Talon drink from her water bowl either. Since she is out most the day, I offer her little drinks of water or watered down juice. She also learned about 6 months ago to say "Thirsty Bird "when she is thirsty. Si that helps if I forget to offer her a drink when she's hanging out with me in my office.
here are the latest

Thaks, it's nice to hear that so far most feel it's ok not to clip their wings as long as it's safe. Elsewhere I've been told they should stay clipped. I appreciate the quick replies. Thanks so much!! I've really been uncomfortable with feeling like I have to clip them, when I know Talon prefers to fly if needed. So far she hasn't abused the freedom.
They are great! It is a free standing unit that you can put under the cage on the floor. Weekly maintenance consists of rinsing a small filter out. It filters out dander/dust and many bird & human ailments. It is warranted for life. You do have another filter to change about every 4 months, so there is a cost in upkeep for that. I bought 6 as we have a big house. I have one asthmatic son, so I bought one for his room. Talon also has a sleep cage and has one it that room as well.
my house is alt less dustier!! I love them, the air just smells so much cleaner as I have alot of dust where I live. Check out this website. If you call them with questions, the owner is the one to talk to you (not some operator). He will spend alot of time talking to you and answering your questions. See the link below:

What kind of air filters systems does everyone here have? I bought the JWR germicidial air systems. I have found that they work great! Just curious if anyone here has them as well.
The more you spend time with him, the less time it will take. But all good advice above. Take it slow and really make it sound fun & exciting when you introduce new things. Good luck and keep us posted!!
Thanks, I do add it to her daily pellets & seeds. She only will eat the fine as well. I would just like to see her eat MORE!!! I haven't given up, we've been working on this for a couple of months now. I do have a scale and she actually has gained weight. I weigh weekly.
How about Nachos? Talon loves them. I know they are very salty, but she loves to eat around them in a circle. She never finishes one, but does love them!!
Sometimes if you pretend to eat the food and especially not share....that will work. They love the frobidden food!!! It usually will spark Talon's appetite into trying something new. :cheer:
Thanks, I kind of agree. Talon seems to love to fly if she wants to go from one play perch in one room to another. She doesn't seem to fly unless necessary, but I like that she has the freedom to do so. I only take her outside in an adventure pack. I'll put a picture up below of my daughter and Talon on her first trip in her adventure pak.
We have all the harness made out there, and she wants no part of them!!
That's all good advice. If he says it, ignore it, or leave the room. They tend to forget the things they don't hear as time goes on, such as merry x-mas, happy birthday, etc. Talon stopped saying those things after she didn't hear it anymore.

Post edited by: Talon, at: 2007/05/12 15:24
I'm sure this is posted here elswhere,it's just I'm new here and still trying to learn to navigate. Talon had her wings clipped in Feb. She now can fly all over the house if she wants, which isnb't too often, maybe 2 times a day. If I get her clipped now, how will she take it? She loves to fly and then when you put your hand up, she'll land on it. That's kind of fun to do. Any advice??
