  1. Jay...Maggie...you both know how I feel....and WHY I seem "busy" you know what that is about..... You both will always have a special place in my heart...I WILL speak for other members...and if they don't like what I say, they can disappear...but OUR BIRDS HAVE A BETTER LIFE IN OUR HOMES BECAUSE OF THE ADVICE & HELP YOU HAVE OFFERED OVER THE YEARS. I know I have more knowledge because of you..NO ONE can take that away from you & you should be proud of all you have done in life. I am sad you don't recognize all the great threads & posts you have done for our fids. You should be focusing on all the GOOD things you've accomplished here & nothing else. THAT is Gods wish ( and mine ) THANK YOU to the members that took the time out of your busy lives to post in this thread....MOST of you don't know the depth of Jays declining health, I do & have respected his wishes not to discuss it here on the forum, but the fact that he is still able to communicate to Maggie so she can write for him here is a difficult task in itself,. Love to you both as always..<3 ❤️
  2. Well, sadly..Nilah does yell “damn it!” She picked that up from me when I got really mad one day when I broke a much loved possession......😣
  3. Well I guess the good news is Nilah is 9 years old.....so I will be looking forward to year 12....! And she is no doubt bonded to me..which I am fine with...I just feel bad for Talon especially who is kinda on her own cause NIlah is the boss of me 😎
  4. Yes, I am the confident one that keeps the upper hand. I can usually calm her when I start singing to her.....She does actually have her "act" on my shoulder where she actually demonstrates having an amazon orgasm 😱 i(didn't know there was such a thing, but there is with her) Then she goes on her merry way.. I don't have any willing volunteers who will work with me on re-socializing her...so I just have to deal with it. One of the girlfriends is very meek & low confidence... and Nilah can sense that...so she spends no time in my house other than my sons room, when she passes thru, I take Nilah in the bathroom with me & we wait it out there.. The other girlfriend IS self confident, not afraid of her, has tried to offer her snacks over the years etc, Sometimes NIlah is fine with her...mostly in the fall & winter...but spring is a different story. The only weapon of terror we have against Nilah is Zoob-tube that she is fearful of..so my sons girlfriend just carries it around with her everywhere when shes here. Only in the spring will Nilah fly at her, but my son tries to shoo her way...it gets a bit stressful in the house when he brings her home...but only in the spring.... Most importantly...NO-ONE is willing to help the situation in my house cause MOM knows NOTHING...😜
  5. Yes, everyone who served are our heroes. ❤️
  6. Well it is clearly spring.....Nilah is VERY hormonal. She is a crazy wild woman! Ever since my daughter started bringing home boyfriends years a go...Nilah has attacked every female who enters my house...it is very bad when it’s spring...soooo....it’s very difficult for my 2 sons when they bring their girls friends home...Nilah will go full blown attack at them. Problems being once she’s out of her cage for the day, there’s no getting her back in until bedtime...and NO I absolutely won’t keep her cage bound on my day off from work...I also can’t have visitors unless she’s in her cage so I discourage guests... How many years of this do I have to deal, with this behavior???? I am the only one who can handle her and she is bonded to me, so I’m not a problem...but any other female is..... I welcome any opinions or advice to help us thru...

    Drama

There is never a need to apologize. We are all human, we all have drama, issues, problems, and busy things going on in our lives. Sometimes we are in a hurry and post a quick reply...sometimes we just read and don’t contribute....we all make mistakes....ALL are welcome here and ALL are forgiven. You have been a big contributor and for that I will always be thankful. You both are in my prayers as always.

    We Are !!!

Thank you Jayd and Ray for this thread. You are absolutely correct! I will put my brain to good use and come up with a new thread. With 3 parrots, I have lots to share.
  9. That’s wonderful! You gave me thoughts for my indoor cat !
  10. So sorry....rest up....we look forward to keeping up with you
  11. Oh my goodness! Good thing you found it out now tho....now Gracie Mae says...get back to work
  12. Oh my gosh!!! I am so sorry ...I have a lot of personal trauma going on in my life and missed this...I am so very sorry this happened. But thank God you did what you had to to save their lives. How lucky you are to have rescued them..that is the only reason I keep carriers next to their cages with pillow cases for that very reason. i have no doubt that in HIS grey time....he will come around. That was some pretty severe trauma he went thru...I’m sure he is in shock still...remember..he doesn’t understand WHAT happened and WHY you did what you did...he has to come to terms with what in his mind..YOU did to him....and what happened..just the alarms going off are enough to set my birds into a panic...he had a lot more he went thru..... You may have to start from square one again...sitting next to his cage...singing to him...talking softly....reading to him in a quiet voice...just loving him as you do...and giving him space....but on HIS terms.....not yours....and PATIENCE will be key here.... please keep us updated...his is our family too
  13. it might play on a computer or laptop. I’m on my iPad
  14. That’s cool! So you are going to use it for your cats, and Alfie?
  15. Can you repost? It doesn’t play
  16. Handsome! You must be so proud! Thank him for his service and know he is in my prayers.

    Appearance

Whoever told you don’t open the cage is just making the adjustment worse, it will reinforce his fear of humans, if he can’t fly, open the cage while you are around to supervise, he may sit for weeks with the door open, in time he’s going to get curios and may sit on the door. That’s a high first step. i understand the fear and thrashing he probably does of cleaning his cage...but it has to be done...even slow gentle movements by you, soft singing while you do it. And do just the bare necessities, clean the bottom grate and change the paper...let the other stuff go..as he learns that you won’t harm him, you will be able to do his perches. Patience, kindness, gentle humming or singing, and very slow movements so he can see you are not a threat. It will take time, but will work.
  18. Oh my, she was adorable. I am so sorry for your loss. This is heartbreaking..😥
  19. Yes, sadly, life does get in the way sometimes. I have had some sad pet tragedies in the last few weeks. A little on the depressed side, but I will get back here and contribute more in time. Love to everyone ❤️
  20. Wow what a great idea! Never thought to put tiles there..my birds live my cabinets. I buy the wooden houses for rabbits and put them on top of my cupboards, they mostly chew them.
  21. Hello and Welcome to our family. What a beauty you have there. Thank you for, posting a pic! Looking forward to hearing more!
  22. We appreciate the updates, of matter what they are. Prayers for you both. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
  23. Nilah like to use a spoon.
  24. Yes, I agree. No raw potatoes, no garlic, no onion, no avocado, no mushrooms, and no salt...although I do let them have some chips on occasion with sea salt. Sugar is a no no as well...but they get an occasional sweet snack... i didn’t know for a long time that unlike us humans, birds can never get rid of the salt and sugar we feed them, it just accumulates until the harm is done.😢
