  1. Such a fascinating topic!! Talon, say “thirsty bird “ when she wants a drink. Nilah who never leaves me alone....she’s a huge shoulder bird...makes a gurgling sound whenever I go to the bathroom 😝, or run water anywhere. Rikki sau “good morning” when she first see me in the morning. When I have to put Talon in her cage before I-go to work, she says. “Be back soon okay?” Something I’ve aleays said to here before I was working full time and I would put her in her cage when I’d go out.. She always say, “Hello”in her politest voice when my phone rings..
  2. Yes, I have heard from Maggie, Jayd is not doing well and at this point has decided he wants to spend his remaining time home. Without going into details, both of them are sleep deprived and it is difficult for him to post, but Maggie is hoping she can get a post on here from him soon...please pray for them both...❤️
  3. Yes, me too. I messaged them both several days ago..., but haven’t gotten a response..
  4. This thread last posts is 5 years old....
  5. Wonderful news! Thank you for looking out for her! We can all relax now. 😀
  6. Oh Maggie, I am so sorry for you both. Prayers for you and especially Jay that times quickly heals him. Love you both. ❤️
  7. I don't see a problem with you doing that. That's what many people do to use on themselves. It's a great idea in my opinion!
  8. Beautiful cage & set-up!! About once a month, I make a big mix of Veggies, rice, pasta, quinoa, and freeze it in containers to feed out daily before I go to work.
  9. Prayers for her. Hope all is well. Please keep us updated Jayd
  10. That does seem like a bit more than normal. How is the humidity in the room ? Do you, have some soothing music perhaps? Please try not,to,worry, they can sense when you are under stress and will react accordingly. You need to be relaxed and calm around them .
  11. Judy offers good advice! I second it.
  12. Congrats on rescuing this beautiful grey. He is very lucky. I would do away with the dowel, those are scary if they are not used to it. If you put you hand facing down and make a fist, when you ask him to step up, there really is nothing for him to latch onto. This will help gain trust. Does he know how to step up? Please be careful of the bleach, that’s toxic and very bad for them. They have delicate respiring sytems and can die very quickly from toxic fumes. No candles, air fresheners, self cleaning ovens or chemicals.
  13. Wow, I,love following the updates. He’s one lucky bird, and you are such an angel for rescuing him
  14. I LOVE LOVE LOVE that! What a sweetheart! He is forever yours....such a resilient precious gift.
  15. I have an outdoor aviary & never felt the reason to worry about bird mites. I do not leave them out there full time, but in the last 4 years, the only thing I watch if the wasps that may make it inside which I am right there to make sure they are gone asap.
  16. I agree, wait on the nail filing. This is a critical time for him, what happens these next few weeks will determine how he acts around human touch and handling. Leave him be..
  17. Not too big! I buy macaw cages for my greys. Rabbit toys are cheap, just make sure they are bird safe.
  18. Oh I am soooo happy!! You guys did great. What a sweet bird and so lucky! Thanks for the pics! How heartbreaking to see how he was kept. You are a true angel. Please keep the updates coming!
  19. There is no way to tell the sex without a dna test.

  21. I am all for another bird. My greys have no use for my Amazon, but knowing they are not alone while I’m at work is a source of comfort for me. They all have their own cages, but I think they like knowing they are a “family”. They don’t preen or play with each other, in fact Talon my grey and my Amazon play chase at times. But they do see very secure in the fact that they have other birds near them.
  22. I hope you can rescue him...prayers
