Question

Fairy... you are always sooo.... ummm... Helpful!
2. I really hope that lady did not have a bird. These people treat everything like money.
3. Hey, thanks for the link buddy! The bottom line of that post is that we can roast the peanuts and all will be fine. Makes sense too. Answers my question too. Thanks!
4. Hi all, What if we roast the peanuts at home? Or atleast freeze them for 48 hours and then put them in a pre-heated oven to kill anything that was on it. I think that would kill any fungus/mold whatever on the peanut shells. I do the freezing bit with all the seed mix I buy.
5. Thanks Judy, this site is really cheap. I am also gonna order some Zupreem.
6. That is one happy looking bird.
7. Well I bought peanuts today after searching the market for like 2 weeks! I got the unsalted peeled ones without the shell and the peel. Now he is on a Cashew and peanut diet lol till I get my hands on Harrisons mid of this month. I dunno where I can get palm oil here. Would it be there in the pharmacy?
8. I am kinda confused. My parrot eats peanuts other than those sunflower seeds. Is it okay if i just take the seeds out of his diet now and replace with peanuts or are they just as bad? From what I've read, peanuts are not so bad. Am I right?

10. I am so sad to hear of your loss. I have lost my ringneck too four years ago and there is nothing that can make me forget it. I can totally imagine what you feel. Life and death are not in our hands. Atleast our birds died knowing that they were loved and will always be in our hearts. Falconeer.
11. Yes, that is right.

Post edited by: Falconeer, at: 2007/10/02 18:42
12. Hey Sandy... How you doin Welcome to the Forum.
13. Hi Buddy! Welcome to the family. Just do what I told you on the chat the otherday. Use the stick or your hand for the step-up and gentle pressure on the feet while saying "Step-up". He will eventually step up and then you praise him a lot. Be very excited when he steps up. Make noise. Offer a treat. Return him to his perch and say something like "Go Back". Repeat this a few times and then leabve him alone for an hour or so just talk to him and repeat this process. Let us know how it goes.
14. WOW. He is so beautiful Joe. I have taken Tonto to the Mall with me but he got too excited and flew off my shoulder. Lol. But then he came to me to pick him up.

Uh-oh

Can someone confirm if salt is harmful for them or not? I mean even a little bit?
16. Tonto has been with me only 27 days now. Only makes a 'Click' sound followed by a 'COO'. Usually this is when I step out of the room. He's just 9 months old.

18. One more thing: NO SMOKING PLEASE. I had to fight with my room mate for this one. I smoke, but I take my cigarettes to the restroom or the kitchen and smoke with the exhaust on or just step out. Second: tell them that there might be poop at times on the floor... hope they are okay with that too. Wish you luck buddy.
19. I can't imagine how your CAG is doing that lol picking his nose
20. Welcome to the family. Get the bird after it's been properl;y weaned and just be patient with it once you bring it home. You are bringing it home to a new enviornment so it will be a bit shy/nervous at first. Just give it a few weeks to know the place and you. You are going to get yourself a new best friend soon.
21. Looks like I'm going to the hardware store tomorrow! Thanks for sharing the great idea with us all.
22. yeah, will go back to place I bought it and see if there is one around. There is this bird and animal market in town, will go there tomorrow.
23. No avian vet in this area. I have a friend who is a vet, comes to RC heli flying fields, but that is in winter only. This has been over a month now and she is just fine and active as ever. I am still looking for a vet though.
24. Hello all, I am happy today. My little ringneck had gotten into a fight with my CAG and ended up with a broken beak. I could not post pics of it, but I discussed it in another thread called 'Broken beak'. The original damage was something like this... from the left nostril of the bird, about 3/4 cm down, towards the tip of the beak, it was ripped off. I could see the nostril hole was now 7-8 times bigger compared to the other hole. This morning, I saw her and was shocked. I was feeding her through her cage, and then saw her beak it was like the chipped of piece had magically disappeared overnight and she had a lighter red color beak growing underneath it all the time. This took about a month and a half from the accident she had. The point is that beaks do heal. The damage was like when a nail is chipped upto the flesh, that's how it looked and now it is brand new without any scars. unbelievable. Will post pics in a few days... still no cam

Post edited by: Falconeer, at: 2007/09/14 10:44
