  1. HEY I just got a baby too today and guess what... He is 9 weeks old. WE HAVE THE EXACT SAME CAGES FOR OUR BABIES! Mine is in the same coner of the room as yours.
  2. MAS: REad my post "GOOD NEWS!" Bobbing is a sign of BREATING PROBLEMS. Take it very seriosuly. I just lost Tonto today @ 11:30 PM. I tried all I could to help him. But death has no time set. When it is time, we humans can do nothing. Imme... Poop is more of a Couch and step back kind of a motion.
  3. Wagging is GOOD... but Bobbing up and down is BAD news.
  4. The medicine seems to be working now. The sneezing has stopped and he is active too. But still a bit slow. I guess he is tired.

  6. Hello all... I LOVE YOU GUYS for all your concerns and prayers. I visited my great Vet. She checked him and told me right away that he had caught the flu. She gave her an Anti-biotic shot and another one for the worms (he was due). After about half an hour, he started pooping funny yellow green stuff. And then sneezed up some watery liquid. She said to observe him till tomorrow and if he does not get well, she will admit him for three days to administer the anti-biotics. I got him groomed too while I was there. P.S: Those wrere not mimics. Poor thing did not sleep all night yesterday. Now he is quiet and brething much much better. Tail bobbing has stopped.
  7. Hi All, Just talked to the vet, she says bring him in in the evening. I read online that tail bobbing is a not healthy. He has been doing it all night long. So I let him sleep on his perch last night to keep an eye on him. Poosr thing made the noise all night and was bobbing his tail too. Hope it is not too serious.... Judy....... I had flu past week, but Tonto does not talk yet. Just makes whistling noises.
  8. OH ALSO, when he breathes, his tail moves downwards. Is this normal?
  9. Hello all. I've been away for a while from the forums. Just been lazy, and kinda busy. Tonto has just become adorable. He put his head down for me and let me scratch his head finally. That is something great. Today he followed me around the house and found me in the kitchen cooking and climbed up to my shoulder. One issue: Since this evening, he has been making this cough/sneez type of noise. He also breathes heavy once in a while like he has a bad throat. But the doc said he is fine. What is this sneez/cough type of noise? IS HE SICK or is it something he has just learned??? HELP. I will take him to the vet tomorrow afternoon for his vitamins and other shots. I will also check on this with the doctor. But anyone had a similar problem?

    Ear Biting

You have to get the wings clipped. That is important for his training. Otherwise he will learn to just take off when he sees you approaching. This gives him more control than you want him to have.
  11. I tried the exact same thing with mine. He only goes to the shower with me and stays very calm in there.
  12. Hey Mustee, what's in the first video? I am just a cheapo! Do they have Chinese versions?
  13. I have parents that live an hour and a half away (what a blessing!) I usually go to my parents as thats the only out of town place I have to go to. Other thatn that, when I go out of the country, I drop them at my parents' a week in advance. My mom loves them, but hates the poop and the noise! My dad always complains about keeping animals at home. He says they were meant to be wild and free.
  14. I think Lovemygreys advice is the best. I also favor the clicker method. I don't really believe in timeout (no offense to anyone who uses this, just my opinion!) Tonto does not bite me, he did do it at first, but now he only does it if he is threatened. Like when I tried to file his claws today. NOT a good idea! :silly:
  15. Sorry to hear of the loss of a life. Money is secondary, first find out what went wrong. Maybe your bird was sold to someone paying higher and you were given an ala by? You SHOULD get your money back. However, if the dealer is nice and offers your money back, MAYBE he did take care of the bird and it died a natural death. In that case, getting another bird should be fine.
  16. Great news... Tonto learned not to poop anywhere in the living room... He also learned only to poop on me when in the living room.:woohoo: :silly:

    Biting

    You don;t bite.... do you?
  18. Do they have a common body language? Or is it individual to individual? (Like neck stretching and stand straight is a bite for sure.) I mean like the purring and all..

    Biting

Don't be scared of bites. Its something unavoidable. I let Tonto bite me when I got him. Then he just suddenly gave up! It did hurt for a week cause he did bite hard, but now all is good.
  21. Thanks all for the input here. I spoke to Mandi... She is not leaving the site cause she was offended by anything, it's due to personal issues. One great thing about this forum is that everyone is mature enough to respect eachother for their information and not insult anyone for anything that is unconfirmed.
  22. Hi, There is no such thing as a set mind, in my opinion. As these birds are known to be so intelligent that they learn all their lives. IO think it is just the new environment that is making it nervous. How long have you had it? Leave it alone a month to bond with you first and to know the place. It might know your face from your visits to it's ex-home, but now it is on your turf. It is like a shy kid. When you were at her home, she was playing and all, now it is missing her mommy and is in a new place. Think like the bird.
  23. LOL BMustee! Karma for you Cornholio!
