That probably won't go away. We have a bedtime routine here: we walk inside the dark bird room, GreycieMae hangs off my back so I have to get against a wall to get her back where I can get her. She then flops forward and crawls into my shirt. After that it's the death clench followed by 2-3 minutes of sweet talking and reassuring and she'll finally release and let me gently place her on her sleep swing. They're silly.

Certain items are sure to kill a Grey. Just ask them I would remove the offending items and set them somewhere in the room where she can have a good look at them for a few days. Might help if she sees you messing with them occasionally too.

Welcome to the fart club. We get that noise more often than any other out of our Grey. We made the mistake of laughing and giggling the first few times and now she loves to get a rise out of us with a well placed fart.

What do you mean by "picking his white feathers"? Does he have bare patches? I'm sitting here right now with Greycie and she's lost probably 4-5 white down feathers just in the process of normal preening. This is an everyday occurrence. During a molt they'll even lose a lot of the regular feathers. I chase her down feathers all over the dang living room daily just cleaning them up - it's very normal. I'm not liking what this vet is recommending but it could clearly be a communications gap between us and what you're describing.

Miss Gilbert is a Timneh and they tend to be smaller. My Grey is a Congo and she's a big girl yet she's never broken 490 grams. She's typically 460 grams but she's a female. Some people freak out when they can feel the keel bone. This is normal, even more so in birds that are not flighted. My girl is a constant flier and she still has a very noticeable keel bone. Question about your vet, which I may have missed: is this an actual avian vet? I know it can be hard to find avian vets.

Whoaaa - I 've seen a lot of "What does your Grey weigh" and not once have I ever seen a Grey even come close to the 2lbs (907 grams) mark. 1.2 lbs sounds about right to me but I guess that vet would know what they are talking about. Is Alex a really big Grey or something? Wondering if anyone else here has ever heard of a Grey reaching 2lbs?

That's a great update. I don't mind long if it's paragraphed - makes for easy reading. Seems like everyone is getting an Alexa. I have two co-workers with them now. We don't sell them. I went to a man's place last year to buy some quail and he offered me these pigeons along with a couple of Oriental Frill pigeons for free. He was just tired of taking care of them. They were in a tiny little box so we took them. I resisted letting them set on their eggs for a long time because I don't want to fill the damn place up with pigeons. Wife talked me into letting them hatch just this set and NO MORE!!! They are cute though. I'm after a few homers that I can fly outside the loft. These fantails are sitting ducks so they have to stay inloft.

Safe for birdy bell: Also the fastener at the top, we used to use those until I spotted my Jardines one day with his toy hanging from his beak. He got it off, then got it clipped onto his beak and the hole near his throat. We have since switched to quick links. He can undo quick links too, don't ask me how, but he can't screw it back together on his beak. I swear, he's a little engineer birdy....

Sounds like our house: - Nothing breakable on the kitchen counter. GreycieMae loves to fly in there and check to see if her counters are clear. If not you will get a crashing sound faster than you can get in there to do your job. - Laptop cover down. Rio will strip keys if he finds a laptop unattended. - Hide the Tab4: I think little Toby likes to go shopping or something. He's learned to scroll the screen with his beak. Of course he can't figure out how to turn the blasted thing on. - I have to wear shoes: Rio hates my toes and will guerrilla attack them if he see's them out in the open. However mama's toes get upchucks and Jardines cooing. Go figure. - Cabinets above the fridge must be covered. Rio likes to strip paint off them.
