It has been a long summer. Maybe year. My husband is still in Afghanistan, but very close to coming home. Jellybean has adjusted and so have I. He will give me "a kiss"; which is beaking my hand. We have not had a bite in quite some time and he is exploring his surroundings. He is still out of his cage as early as noon until bedtime. All is well as of now.

He has never done this before or since. Also, I can not take credit for the nails. All I did is give him a perch that has the sandpaper on it. I do believe I should take him to the vet to get checked out just because he has not been yet, but I am somewhat afraid to tackle that issue. Any advise?

What good news! I am so happy for you. I hate to admit, but the netting in front of the door saved me from losing Jellybean when I first got him. Lesson learned for sure.
-
I can't remember, but someone on here told me it was okay when I was freaking out about Jellybean. The person said it was normal and that they lose them in flight. I will find one every now and then when Jellybean flies around. I wouldn't worry.

I will try to get some Thanks

So he is comfy then? This is good?

This is awesome; Carrots, black-eyed peas and bootie! Love it!

Jellybean after calling out, just kind of droopy wings chirping away and preening himself. He is comfy? Please clue me in.

Another Non-Stick/Teflon Question...sorry
DanielaWelborn replied to Joolesgreyuk's topic in Health Room
the cookware you purchased is most likely hard anodized. It is not a coating that can or will come off. It's not a coating at all.Totally different than Teflon. I used to rep Cafelon and use it on a daily basis. You should be good to go. -
Thank you Guys for your support. Yes, this is just the beginning and I can't even imagine our relationship in 10 years or so. And yes, I live to please him. They have their ways, don't they? We are on day 103 of 270, or so with my husband being stationed in Afghanistan. I managed to re-home two parakeets ( I loved them, but one of my friends really wanted them and I saw a chance ), one dog (trust me he is better off; more attention, single dog, no screaming Mommy), and one lap top. I was contemplating taking in another bird, but everything I see is about money. It just has to fit and so far....no. Also JB is still giving me hell every once in a while. BUT, we are getting to know each other more every day!

He has found great confidence and is exploring his options. Flying to a different room and landing on a stand. Flying and landing on over hangs. We are still trying to figure out our call. 8 month in = my bird is amazing.

I sprayed Jellybean today, while outside and he acted about the same. Great picture!

so sorry about my outdoor pictures from last weekend. The file was too big and I have not figured out how to resize it. Here is something from this afternoon. He was outside soaking up some sun again, I moved his cage back inside (pain in the butt), and he promptly bit me. I was mad for a while, but I got over it and let him out. He is still on top of his cage whistling.

what a difference a little sun makes.....

Sorry, I tried:( -
I wanted to post a picture of my Jellybean outside in the sun, but my file is too large and I just don't feel like messing with it. Too bad, we had a good two days of soaking up sun and outside. He is so different when he is outside. Does not call out as much and just seems happier. Much more active too.https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10200669609856856&set=a.1804253440309.96424.1659087795&type=1&theater this might work?

nothing special. Just exploring the dining room table. We are still back and forth with each other. He bit me last night as I was covering his cage. A first for sure for me. He is testing me, I know. Damn I love this bird!

Day 77 or so in my husband's deployment and we settled into a nice routine; Jellybean knows he will be out of his cage around 3 or 4 pm until bed time. I clean his cage and get dinner ready for him. Another routine is that I work out almost every day. I am doing a 90 day program and the warm up is always the same. Jellybean will mouth almost every word. Then today, a new thing; he is making the "ch" sound, over and over and over. Since I am German the sound makes sense, and I do watch German news every morning and other shows during the week that are German. It is a "sh"sound in the back of the throat. So he started that today and repeated, morning and again tonight. I just wonder what he is thinking. I wish I could "pick his brain" I can not lie; I would love for him to talk. I think that is what I am hoping for. If not I spend the rest of his/my life trying to figure out what he is trying to say:)

Thanks for clearing this up for me. Not doing that thank God. I feel better now:)

I love the pictures of Escher. The progress you made is amazing. Keep it up and keep us updated:)

Okay, on to the next , and to me, the obvious one: how does masturbation show in Greys? What is it that they do? I tried to google it and came up with not much useful things.

how do our birds exhibit sexual behavior? Jelly Bean is doing a whole lot of beak rubbing on his stand, wings are flaccid. And a whole lot of calling out. I saw a video recently that might resemble his behavior . Best to ignore it?

Hi Everybody, it's been a little rough around the edges the last two months. My husband deployed to Afghanistan and it took some adjusting for me. Jelly Bean was not a fan of that. However, he is ever so forgiving and we are back on track. He seems happy, giving me kisses and enjoying exploring the house. I am amazed at, never the less I was a mess the last two months, now I am back on track and so is he. I love my bird!

Thank you for the beautiful pictures of your bird. Welcome and please keep us posted.

Jellybean loves to sit in a bowl I have in my pantry. It looks similar to your book shelf. Perfectly normal. Jellybean will fight me on going into his cage too. I just have to be persistent and insist he steps up and go to his cage. It is frustrating at times; he will fly back and forth, but eventually he will give in.
