  1. Timber meows in 3 distinct "voices." Drives the cats insane, but the rest of us enjoy it. He does it well enough that I cannot tell from another room if it is him or one of the cats.
  2. Good to see you posting again KevinD! Everything seems to be running very smoothly here. I'd like to see more activity too, but it is what it is. I've tried the facebook groups but they move quickly from one thing to another, and there are too many dramatic people making too much noise there for me.
  3. The horse was definitely enjoying the experience more than the owner appeared to be!
  4. LOL yes they are possessive of there stuff, their "creations" and their areas.
  5. Lovely! Timber seems upset when I sweep up his messes, so apparently he sees it as art!
  6. I haven't been bitten in several months. Extreme caution and speedy reflexes are the main reason. Also, I'm Timber's "person" unlike Kevin. My husband, on the other hand, is fair game. Timber's game is to see if he can catch him unaware and make contact. In Timber's defense, he hasn't hung and and ground his beak on Gary's flesh for awhile, just gives him a warning pinch. Well it is a game Talon, just not one you came up with. Little stinkers.
  7. Or the constantly crud covered floor. When I first got Timber, I drove myself nuts sweeping up about his area several times a day. Now, once a day will do it!
  8. Yikes! About the same price here in Illinois, but for only one bird! I feel your pain.
  9. Actually, those are sugar snap peas. They are about the only "green" thing he will tolerate. Kids!
  10. Timber is the same. He loves meat. He won't eat fish, but that's the only meat he turns his nose up at.
  11. Curious, do they eat the marrow from the ham bone? I know Timber likes to crack chicken wing bones and strip it out.
  12. Nilah seems more interested in the fire than the presents!
  13. Good to see you again! It has been quiet here. I read one time that parrots pick up things quickly that are said with emotion, which is why bad language seems to come so easily to them I suspect. I do agree with the sarcasm point too though. Maybe they like that inflection as well. All is well with Timber (as far as I know, he's not one to tell me otherwise). His annual visit to the avian vet went well, and his seizure meds are still working. He has little interest in Christmas which is normal. After all, the presents, they all belong to him if you know what I mean.
  14. Less stressed is always good! Glad something is working, be meds, healing, or prayer
  15. Poor Corey! Unfortunately, I have no knowledge or advice to offer. Timber has a toe that is deformed (for lack of a better word), but it hasn't affected his ability to perch or get around. A few years ago, he developed a seizure disorder. As a result, the vet recommended that I move him into a smaller cage, switch to flat perches, and keep a towel on the bottom of the cage for cushioning at night. This was all in case he had a seizure since falls can be damaging when they are helpless. I don't know if the flat perches might help Corey or not, They are basically just pieces of wood that are broad and flat. However, I will say that after a time, I noticed Timber sleeping on the towel more and more during the nights. He won't while the lights are on and people are around, but I've caught him sleeping there several time when I've surprise him before daylight. God bless in your quest to keep Corey after and content.
  16. That's great! Glad to hear things are working out in the new place. It's always a big job and somewhat of a chance to move.
  17. That's funny! Yes, they do seem to love to "prank." When I got Timber I had four cats. Timber can meow in three in 3 distinct "voices" once of which sounds like a cat caught in a bear trap. Early on, I caught on, he would make that pitiful "help me" meow (when I wasn't near him of course.) I'd come running, calling for the cats to see who was in distress. They would usually be sitting in the window looking at me like "what's the crazy woman's problem now." Took me a few times to catch on. Timber would be sitting there doing something entirely harmless, not making eye contact. I'm slow, but eventually I catch on...
  18. Wow! You have certainly had a full plate. As to Huey, he is certainly swoon-worthy! Glad to see you back, and hope the rest of your year is much more "peaceful."
  19. I saw him all the time. What a shame!
  20. Sure with Timber did! His attitude is "if it's orange I will die."
  21. Yes. Having peace is the most important thing for all of us when it comes right down to it.
  22. Wow, that's great! That neighbor has been giving you grief for some time as I remember. Hope your move goes smoothly.
