  1. We are adapting to Lily's new stand when she comes out, that of course being the kitchen table, lol. Pat is building a deck for a neighbor so it was just me yesterday with them. Cotay wouldn't come out of her cage at all for me and Bubba, oh that Bubba wouldn't go on his stand either which meant Ollie wouldn't either so they went on the coffee table, the rest did their normal thing. I had to go next door for a second so I secured our demon fids and just left the macaws on the table playing. When I got back I took a quick look around and all seems good, I was happy with it all, then I heard this weird noise and looked around again, no Bubba to be seen ( how I missed that the first time I don't know) I tried to follow the noise, it lead me to the laundry room but the door was shut ( bi-fold louver doors ), I slowly opened them and there he was, eye level and still climbing up. There was no getting him to step up so I had to get "the towel", lol, the towel is his favorite game so that wasn't an issue. I set him back on the table then realized I missed my chance at getting them on the stand, once he and Ollie are together handling them isn't easy. I still had the towel and picked him up, in his zest of playing, he bit the snot out of my thumb, then Ollie stepped right up and went to the stand. Mean time Gus flew down and when I went to pick him up, he had one foot on me and I lost my balance squatting and scared him, he bit me lightly but then he wouldn't step up at all. I still had the towel so I figured, why not, I can tell you all now why not...He hates towel. Took flight again but this time when he landed I was able to scoop him up and get him back to his stand. Koko was singing very loud this whole time, hanging upside down and in between songs would whistle. Gabby and Bongo were in the kitchen waiting for me to start dinner, Bongo making the finger snap noise to Koko's songs and Gabby bouncing her head, I think they are starting a band, so I joined in. Lily still running around the table playing with her leashes. If anyone had been window peeping, they would have called the loony bin on me, thinking I had escaped! I got their dinners done and started putting them up about 7:30, all in cages and eating by 7:45. Pat finally got home about 8pm, got in the shower and went right to bed. 8:30, I put the birds to bed. It was a quick goodnight, one nut each (ok, Koko and Lily got a few more but they eat fast) and to sleep they went. Dinner finally got done about 9pm, I ate and went to be exhausted. Made me realize just how much Pat helps me out in the evenings. Point of the story, Lily wasn't even close to being a problem yesterday! LOL
  2. That is great news and I can't wait for the pictures! Whata dad!!!!! Way to go Isaac!
  3. Oh yeah, I have reached out to many people who can help. All the answers are pretty much coming back the same. "That's a Too for ya." We have been working on removing things that we think are her triggers for the so called attacks. The best thing we have removed is a mirror she had been looking into that was set behind the file cabinet in her room. Didn't know she had pulled it out. Basically after a friend watched a video of her, I was told that she is just active and she is entertaining herself. What I thought was her killing the leashes was just her playing with them, as for getting on the floor, Too's are ground feeders and her want to be on the floor is natural also. She looked happy and playful. It is the other two Toos that are docile, but all three could be running around like Lily and we got lucky. lol It is me stressing, not her. With that in mind, the past couple of days have gone much better, no, Lily hasn't changed but my attitude has. A lot of my stress has been that I thought she was unhappy, having confirmation that she is really has helped me cope. She is also still very young at 5 years old so she should be allowed to act a little nutso now and then. heehee

  5. Lol. She only carries the sprout mix in buckets, doesn't sprout in them.
  6. I have a few pictures this time. :-) I couldn't resist the new babies and how they fell asleep with each other. The way tucked into each others necks, aww. Greybee was outside and I didn't get to see her but RayRay was in.. I didn't get to play with them too much, it was sprout day. lol When most people say they are making sprouts, you expect a few jars. ( I have never sprouted because I just couldn't figure it out so I was pretty excited about learning ) She sprouts by the bucket full, we mixed up 2- 5 lb buckets with the mix. Cleaning and rinsing and dividing and the filling into smaller containers and wow. I hope I can remember how she did it and can breakdown what all was in it to make a much smaller version of it, lol. I get to go back off cycle to trim some toe nails and she has to get blood on some of the babies and that is something I really want to learn about! It was so scary when I first pulled up, a scarlet macaw was flying right at me in my car and my heart sank, I thought one got out. Then a red front was not far behind flying toward me. Since free flight is not common to me, that wasn't my first thought but then I realized what was going on and got out of my car and just watched. After I picked my jaw up off the ground and was able to look away, we went right to work. 2 1/2 hours later I remembered the birds that were out and she just said she was surprised they were not at the door screaming to let them back in. It was just so magical to watch these powerful birds just being birds! I was like a kid in a candy store and asked just as many questions as a kid would do, why, how, what, when... I must have been a pest!
  7. I am. Also registered for her class. 2016 was the first available, told her I would have the good and screwed up by then!
  8. No change in Lily. In fact she chased a neighbor when he and Pat were in the room. (that is where the tool room is and the neighbor needed a big saw) Pat just walked in the room to get the saw out and when he came out the guy was not in the same place a pale. He said she flew around the room, landed on the floor and chased him. Pat asked what he did when she did that and said he didn't know what to do so he just shit his pants. lol I never thought I would look to the vet for drugs but she is really out of control and positive reinforcement, time out in the cage, time out in a dark room are not working. Put her outside and she just screams.
  9. Lily has crossed over to the deep end and is causing tension in the flock. She went totally nuts last night where I had to walk outside and shed a few frustration tears. All was good and we were playing on the floor, (I had her in the living room with everyone but it wasn't working out so we went to her room to play) after a while I had to get started with the evening chores so I put her on her cage and left the room. All was good for 30 minutes or so, then I noticed her flying around. She flew into the tv 4 times ( according to the body dust imprints she left) Then she found a mirror we had put behind some things and went nuts trying to get at the bird she saw in the reflection. I turned the tv on for her and she did stop flying into it, but was really agitated. I took her back out with me to the kitchen and there she spotted what was left of the harnesses, full on attack mode. She grabbed, tossed and killed. If they hit the floor, she went after them. She even flew directly up from the floor to the table when I picked one up off the floor and set it on the table. Then she spotted the mirror in the dining room and all hell broke loose. She kept flying into it screaming, knocking everything off the table under the mirror, even getting herself tangled in the fake plant. It is like she either hates other birds or she wants to play but they won't play with her. I just don't know what to do to make her happy. Maybe she is happy and just over excited, frustrated and in season maybe, jealous?? I really don't know. She is full on flying now, have not seen her "jump" in days and that is when her attitude changed some, when she found her wings. Maybe she was upset last night because we giggled at her when she flew into the kitchen, she didn't think about the fact she would slide after she landed and slid, with a little soft bonk, into the stove. Also, when it came dinner time for them and all the birds where in their cages, she was a gem, no screaming or anything. She however, just sat there and chewed her nails. She doesn't seem to like the birds around her when she isn't in her cage, but when she is in the cage she is okay with it as long as everyone else is in theirs, if they are not there she screams for them. I am so lost and not looking forward to the daytime hours anymore when they are all out! We have even tried one on one time, not having everyone out at once and she still gets into trouble chasing the dogs or worse, biting our feet because she will not stay still enough for us to get anything done. We try to wear her out playing and flying, holding her and her flapping until she get tired, but that just seems to get her more anxious. If we give her a bath, she flies trying to dry off. She has so much energy she doesn't know what to do with it. If I lay on the floor to play with her, she just runs to me and presses herself hard against me and would go to sleep, calm as can be.
  10. So we have 3 greys. 2 girls and a boy. I am female and it is me and my boy all the way. He tolerates the hubs. The girls on the other hand hated me and have learned to tolerate me. Lol they both adore my husband!
  11. Sorry I am late updating from Mondays visit. 2 new babies pulled after lots of time in the nest with mom and pop. Oh are they cute. Again, no pictures I get so lost when we start playing. These are my few hours of the week that I get to completely forget everything and just enjoy life. Greybee is still there and has a big personality and is also an excellent flyer. While I was in the nursery with the baby blue throats, she flew in and landed on my shoulder, babies did not like that and started their growling, but after a little time passed, they stopped and relaxed. RayRay (Sugar Ray) is still there also, I am happy to say he has a new home soon with a great woman who has a few handicapped birds already and is set up for him. He can perch now on lower branches and gets around very well without his toes. He even steps up, he has his own way of doing it but hey, it is a step up! The newest babies are not named yet, they were only in a day before I saw them but Screech 1 and 2 come to mind. Heehee
  12. Those are great ideas. I must be getting old or tired because I noticed during the cage cleaning yesterday Cotay had no wood to chew in her cage at all except for her perches. (could explain my loss of a few window sills lately) I got a few pieces and wrapped them together with hemp and hung it in there for her. It ain't pretty at all but it is wood, lol.
  13. Lily was in hyper drive yesterday, I don't know what was up with her. I even did the chamomile tea, uhhh, how long until that kicks in??? She was bouncing off the walls last night and even quit the jumping and took to full flights. Her first flight, she knocked Pat in the back of the head and kept on going. This sweet little Cujo of ours got a taste of freedom and now wants more and more. There really has got to be something that will calm her down, if not that then there has to be a little pill out there that will make me okay with it. lol The harness that she use to wear are no more and the leashes that went with them are now her kill toys. She got on the table where we keep them, tossed them off and flew down to the floor for the kill. I got this all on video but it is having trouble uploading to photo bucket for me to post. At the end of the video, she was flipping her head around and looking at the phone upside down until I started laughing and had to stop filming so I could show Pat what a dork she looked like! It is so hard to picture our evenings before these guys came into our life. What did we use to do? Watch tv, go swimming ( which we have not done yet this year ) or be social with the neighbors? haha, how our lives have changed for the better!
  14. So, we had to go out after work yesterday. Went to his mom's who got her newest grandchild, Koko, some baby keys. When we got home, I was pretty surprised to find Koko on top of her cage and not in it! Lucky she didn't wander around, she just stayed on top and ate the wall and a 1x4 attached to the wall for them to chew. She adores her keys though. lol Her and Gus have become quite the buddies to, which is really nice. Koko also has a new leg feather coming in and a feather on her chest. (these are in addition to the two feathers that were on her chest when she arrived! She is just such a ham!
  15. I have gotten the F you from Cotay after I took her picture. I about fell on the floor laughing in shock. So far she has only said it a few times. Yesterday however our newest member, Koko, over heard me slip and say "what the f..." she immediately repeated it oh so clearly. I went running in the room with excitement asking her "where's the duck???" She looked at us like that is not what I said and went right into a dance. Bubba however beats everything. Him and Ollie were playing on the couch when Gabby did a fly over. He followed her with his eyes all they way over, ducking and saying "fuuu€€€€$$$$" drawn out until she landed. Lol
  16. I am confused, if there is no tube on the roll then what are they shredding, the actual toilet paper? If that is what you are looking to do, I would just get some adding paper.(carbonless) This is a staple here.
  17. It didn't. One is already missing and had a very bad beak in need of a trim. Just found out today when she was offered help to get it out of a tree, she told this person no, one of 2 things will happen... he will come down to eat or die. I am sick that she got 11 of them. She will not be getting the other 7. 2 I have committed to so that leaves 5......
  18. Way more heartbreaking than I thought it would be. All Pat and I could say is that we hope and pray when the time comes we will have the strength to do what this brave guy did for his birds.
  19. Thru a friend I was invited to help with a surrender. This guy loved his birds and it was obvious. Too f-ing bad that the rescue people were only there for themselves. I am very angry about it because this was a good guy who is much older and the primary caretaker was put in the hospital and not expected to be coming back home. This sanctuary saw all the stainless steel cages and I swear busted a gut rushing to get them loaded. Saw the pistachio shells and commented that he shouldn't be spending that money on that, they won't be getting them at the sanctuary blah blah blah. I tried to get her to let me take an amazon but all she saw was dollar signs. Sorry had to vent... did sign the petition though. :-) hope she gets back home soon!
  20. Got a call yesterday about helping with a surrender. We went there to lend a hand, it was so sad. It was an older gentleman who's spouse (who is the primary bird handler) went into the hospital a few months ago. He is very sick himself and couldn't keep up with the birds. His neighbors would come help when they could but were afraid of the birds. Most were blue and gold macaws, a few scarlets and amazons. He kept 7 that he said would make his spouse smile if he ever got to come home again. They are both in their 60's and he has arthritis so bad that he only has use of one hand and must use a cane inside the house but needs a walker or a chair but he won't use them because they scare the birds. I offered through a friend of his to come to his home once a week and clean the cages for him, my heart really went out to him as he loves these birds to no end and his body may be giving out on him but his heart and soul are not. The birds were all in great health, he feed them well and when his spouse was there they were not in the cages very much. They did a swab and no diseases or even bacteria. It was the cleanest dirty I have ever seen.
  21. You have been in my thoughts everyday and this thread is the first one I read each time I open the laptop, hoping each time it will have good news and this morning it happened! I am so happy for the two of you to have found each other again. Brought tears to my eyes.
  22. Found a new used one for 200 to get us by until we can afford a new set. Nice to have cloths again! lol So this thread seems to be about all of my flock and yesterday was vet day. Only 4 went, 3 got their nails done and beaks, Cotay had her toe checked and Bubba had his buttroid frozen off again. It was pretty funny, they were all in an exam room when we picked them up and my Bongo just wanted him mommy. He has the thick beak that grows out from his face so his trim is pretty traumatic. I got him out and he ran up my arm and put his head on my chest while I rubbed his neck. This is the boy who doesn't like to be touched! The umbrellas will have their day at the vet too but they are all okay. They destroy enough that their beaks stay trimmed and their nails we can do so they just have their annuals. lol I was impressed with our bill, 170 for all of them. I guess you get bulk discounts, hahaha.
  23. Sorry. I removed my comment just in case...
