  1. He holds it from 6 am until I get home between 3:30 and 4:30 pm. He goes like crazy once on his play table.
  2. Some new pictures (click for a larger picture)
  3. Jake was in his cage from 11:30 am Sunday until 3:30 pm Monday. He did poop. They were big, like a morning bomb, so he must have held it for a good long while. Its funny how happy I was at birdie poop. It was a relief to know that he would go just in case. Driving bans because of snow do happen here on occasion.
  4. Nancy here is something to think about. Sunny might gain some weight with you having to close up with bird room while you go back to work. Don't feed him unhealthy foods just for weight gain. It will stress his other organs. Go easy on foods that encourage him to drink so he doesn't fill himself up with liquids instead of food.
  5. Just going from the US to Canada is time consuming and expensive. Federal travel papers are required along with USDA vet inspections entering and exiting each country and fees. I live on a boarder and looked into taking Jake into Canada. Dogs and cats are easy but birds are difficult.
  6. They will all adjust as will you. It will be trying but you'll get into a routine.
  7. Try taking the bowl in 2 hands and offering a drink. Sometimes they forget and sometimes you just don't see.
  8. Jake here. There has been another bird here all week and I don't like it. Her name is Isabelle and she is a Quaker. She can fly so she is always trying to get my stuff. I don't mind sharing a little but she has her own food and needs to stay away from mine. She is supposed to go home on Monday. I can't wait. She isn't all bad but she is loud. She did show me that mashed potatoes are yummy. My parronts warned me yesterday that they will be gone all day today and won't be home until after my bed time and that I will have to stay in my cage all day. Since I moved here I haven't gone to bed without scratchies. I don't think I'm going to like this. I don't understand why I can't go too. I was a good boy in the car last week. The momma lady tried to explain and say that swine flu at the fairs has been making people sick so it wasn't safe for me there. Usually that momma lady is pretty smart but I'm a parrot not a pig. Well I gotta go. I'm going to play before I have to go back in my cage.
  9. Here is a thought. Eat the main part of your meal without the feather babies, mostly clean off the table, bring the feather babies in so they can eat while you and hubby enjoy a salad or fruit. Less plates, less stuff, less opportunity to get into trouble. I don't know if pine cones are parrot safe but if they are that might be an idea. I do know that coconut shells are ok so maybe a coconut shell toy that she could pick at.
  10. Jake dulls his down by climbing up and down his grape vine play gym. His nails are dulled down between a combination of a coarse perch and 1/2 coconut shell toys and toy dishes that he loves to perch on.
  11. How about getting something she can dig into to dull the point a bit? Jake loves ears of dried corn. He pulls all the kernels off, flinging them across the room, then digs and shreds the cob. The cob is soft enough so you could drill through it and hang it on a kabob.

    Normal?

The day Jake came home my partner in crime was teasing that I would probably sleep on the couch because I was concerned about him being frightened and injuring himself in the night. I went to bed like normal but in the morning I discovered my partner had slept on the couch.
  13. If Rachel ever wore her hair up or in a pony tail Gilbert might just be accepting this as normal because he doesn't realize the hair is no longer there. Don't discount the idea that he is grumpy over your braces. Your braces could be reflecting light, causing your lips to move differently when you speak or even changing the way you form letters/sounds.

    Wood

If you watch her carefully she probably isn't swallowing it.
  15. Do you have a rope perch as the highest perch?
  16. I have made Jake a mix of Pretty Bird, Zupreem Nut Blend, and Zupreem Avian Entrees Wild and Spicy. He likes this combination and it allows him a bit of choice. He also gets a bowl of seed mix that has some dried vegies mixed in with it. He doesn't care for much "people food" but we do have at least 1 bird safe food with our dinner and always offer it. I do want to try adding a bag of Harrisons to the mix and hopefully replace the Pretty Bird because it isn't available locally.
  17. I was concerned that the cat would be a problem when I was at work. I found a bed net that would hang from a hoop and attach to the ceiling and drape around a bed to keep bugs out. I was going to put that up if the cat seemed to interested. Thankfully the cat isn't interest. The only time I have to shoo the cat away is when she walks to close to the play table with her tail up.
  18. Jake does that when he wants to go to sleep.
  19. Which goal tender are you? :snicker: (Being bit isn't funny or fun but I couldn't resist.)
  20. If you have a photo bucket account you can upload videos there.
  21. Do you have any welders local to you that would fabricate a cage to your specs? I doubt it would be less expensive but you would get exactly what you want.
  22. There are cabana style huts that go over a perch but have no floor. The ones I have seen are made of a nylon material so they won't catch toes.
