I highly recommend the movie/soundtrack Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. The full movie is available on youtube.

My birds love Roudybush...do I really need veggies?

I rarely chop. Jake likes his pieces large so he can hold and tear them. I put them in a treat bowl, string them on a kabob or just place them on the table. Try giving him hunks of vegies and see what he does. -
If she is relaxed and content I'd be willing to guess she just found a comfy place to have a rest and a chat.

We are starting to hear some words between the mumbles, whistles and noises. Today we definitely heard "hey there, quack quack, and helloooooo". He has picked up the squeak in the outside door, the yap and cry of the neighbors nasty little mutt, the tweets of birds on the National Geographic channel and is working on whistling the theme from Andy Griffith. His favorite movie is Snow White and he gets all excited when he hears yodeling.

Once the fruits become available I'll give them a try.

Can the red palm fruit cause watery poops like other fruit?

How about portebello stuffed ravioli topped with a creamy alfredo sauce and a nice mixed greens salad.

Spicy is about all he will consistently eat. He has never turned down raw/fresh hot peppers, cauliflower or kale. All of which have a peppery, spicy taste. I'm in another part of the house but I'm told he isn't sleeping, won't go near his sleep perch, has his back turned and is muttering to himself. It sounds like he is still having a huff.

He has never shown any distress after eating any kind of pepper but now you have me worried. I've thrown away all the hot peppers and anything spicy just to be safe but what about pellets? He has the ZuPreem Avian Entrees Wild & Spicy Parrot Food and I just ordered the Harrisons Pepper Coarse. Can the pellets with peppers burn him? What about the dried peppers in his seed mix? For right now we have taken away the pellets/seed that he normally eats and just gave him some of the seed with dried fruits. He is pouting because he doesn't like that kind.

I don't like spicy peppers but Jake sure does. He digs into the Tabasco peppers, jalapenos (fresh and dehydrated), dried chili peppers, and Hungarian peppers. I have a puree I was given for him to try made of Portuguese peppers. The little bugger even likes wasabi. My skin is very sensitive to the oils in peppers so if he's having peppers I have to run and wash after he steps on me. Are they ok for him to eat even though I don't? He enjoys them so but if the heat is bad for him I'll stop buying them.

I to read about the blood tears. I hope to never see them. When Jake came home his nails were sharp like needles. His table top play gym is made of thick grape vine topped with coconut shells cut in half. Between climbing up, down and over the play gym and a cement perch in front of his water dish his nails have dulled way down and I don't think I'll have to trim them at all. He really digs into the grape vine as he climbs and beats up toys.

It wasn't me this time, but I didn't say no either!

Either extend the vent and attach it to the plexiglass or make an L shape on each side creating a tunnel of sorts. You could also use screening to block things off but I think, if done right, the plexiglass would make it look like built in display cabinets. -

It looks like Parrot and Conure World has cotton and palm nets in stock http://birdsupplysales.ashopcart.com/catalogue.php?exp=28|55|67|&cat=70&shop=1 -
There are numerous older net makers that could probably make one for you. I think Montauk would be your closest spot with a commercial fishing fleet. Take a trip and ask around. If you go don't forget to bring pictures and dimensions.

Block off the area above the cabinets with clear plexiglass. It will keep the dust and feather babies out. -

Your not alone in your feather baby liking the toy hook. Jake just loves his toy hook. I didn't like the one that came with the cage, it was to high, so I bought a stainless one at the bird fair. Jake liked it so much I bought another for the other side of the cage. Mine are stainless with a bracket on the bottom and I was able to place it where the cage top and play top screw together. -
The most fun and inexpensive foraging toy came about when I tripped over a shoe on the floor. Take a piece of paper and fold it into a fan (like when you were a kid) release the paper on a table or surface, its now all bendy and bouncy. Sprinkle some seed over it. You now have a bendy, bouncy, foraging station with seeds in the folds. Jake loves poking through it looking for goodies and then chewing on the paper.

Thank you for the reminder Jayd especially about green on the potatoes.

Restaurant supply shops carry pizza and bakery boxes. Another good source for boxes is your local daycare or headstart program. Most serve cereal for breakfast. -
If Stormy isn't interested in a food don't hesitate to try try try again. Jake wouldn't eat anything hot, cold, wet, or soft. He basically refused all "human food" except for chicken leg bones, hot peppers, cauliflower, cinnamon plum organic oatmeal and the occasional strip of dried sweet potato. He would eat his pellets and a few seeds. I have been offering and offering all kind of tasty tidbits from vegies to fruits to nuts and it was all refused. Today I offered him a taste of a roasted skin on potato. The look on his face was like he had died and gone to heaven. Not only did he take 2 bites of the potato but he nibbled on kale, red bell pepper, a strip of carrot, a little green bean, some yellow crook neck squash, and zucchini. He didn't take more than a few bites of each but he did swallow some.

Jake said is first word today. My partner passed gas and Jake loudly proclaimed PU!. I burst out laughing and darn near wet my pants. We will never forget his first word.

Have you tried eating with her? Make something you both might enjoy and let her see you taking some from your plate/bowl and giving it to her. She might need the flock stimulation to eat. You can also do the fake out and find foods for you that resemble hers like you get Grape Nuts while she gets natural pellet crumbles. (The kids and I spent a lot of days eating fruit loops when we were encouraging a zon to try pellets.)
-
Then you need to work hard to challenge her. While it is just my opinion I think we humans get old and grumpy when we stop learning and being challenged. I imagine it is similar for our feather babies. The little ones play and learn and explore and have a desire to do it because things are fresh and stimulating. We humans need to keep that up as our babies get older. In the wild animals are mentally and physically stimulated with finding food and a changing environment. We have to maintain that for them.

I have the medium size pack-o-bird and have been looking locally for a stroller that will fit it (and that matches). If I don't find one soon I'm going to break down and buy the one on the website.

Thank you for the kind words. He is such a joy and has made my life richer. On a side note the vet is also interested in his red coloring and was going to try and speak with the breeder about his lineage. We are now seeing red fringed feathers across his chest and down his back. Once he starts molting I'm going to save all the red tipped ones I can find and make a decoupage picture frame out of them.
