Yea that's the exact cage I've been looking at. I've seen it several places. If all else fails that's the one I'm looking to get. I had seen one that was very similar but didn't have one side larger then the other. But like I said I don't know where I had seen it.

I also am brand new, wont be getting my grey for several months. But I learn something new everyday from reading the stories and others experiences. There's a lot of great info in these threads and very friendly people. You came to the right place!

They do seem quite bonded. And while we are making great progress with Kiwi Mango is still pretty shy like. Kiwi was on my wife's shoulder last night and even walked down to her hand! Although that's when he commenced biting the tar out of her too lol I have been thinking about a divided cage so I could separate them but not really separate them. Just haven't found one I liked. I had happened across one when I was looking at cages for my future CAG but can't remember for the life of me where I saw it. Most of them I see are way too big or way too small.

Wow, very nice shots! I really enjoy pics of greys in flight.

They're still pretty particular about not touching our hands but have greatly improved. They can be so sweet with each other, but once in a while they will bicker back and forth a bit. Nothing too serious but I have considered separating them. Partially because of the bickering and also because Kiwi is an attention hoarder, If your trying to spend time with Mango kiwi always has to get in the middle. Think he's jealous. I just don't know if separating them would be the best idea. They are only six months old, but they have always been together.

Shes a beautiful bird. Thanks for sharing.

Today Mango even got on my shoulder! Kiwi on the other hand got on top of my head, I'm not even gonna tell you what he did up there lol. I even have a sorta decent picture.

I have done this myself to get my conures to take an almond from my hands. They didn't know what to think of that funny looking nut (me, not the almond lol) so I ate a few myself saying mmmm good lol. This did work like a charm.

Today we have had Kiwi and Mango for a week. And they have made some great progress from a pair of birds that wouldn't take a treat from our hands. They now take treats from us and will nibble on our fingers. Kiwi is still a bit rough sometimes but nothing like he was and Mango took a bit more time to come around. Mango still doesn't always come out of the cage when we let them out but is really making good progress in coming up to the bars of the cage when we talk to him and such. They both give kisses and are just the sweetest little things you've ever seen. Although they are still shy of our hands a bit and wont allow scratches or petting of any kind. Tonight I sat next to the cage while Kiwi was out like a do a lot in the evenings after work. He started coming over and while keeping one foot on his cage, putting the other on my shoulder and "tasting" (or whatever he was doing lol) my neck and ears. Pretty soon he was completely on my shoulder and I swear he was trying to preen my mustache! I'm really happy with the progress we've made with them in such a short time and am starting to have more confidence that we will have great success getting them to really settle down with us. I had my wife take pictures I was gonna post but I was in front of a window and it was to much background light and they didn't come out well. I will post some fresh pics when I get some good ones!

Been trying to decide on the cage I should buy for my future CAG. I know everyone says bigger is better so I've been trying to pick between a large play-top cage or a freaking monstrosity of a corner cage. Ive been kinda leaning toward the play-top but I don't want to rob my bird of the extra space. He/she will likely spend my working hours in the cage and anytime I'm home will be out. What would you suggest? Also I'm sure that I read a 3/4 bar spacing but have also read that 1 is OK for a congo? Want to start getting the cage, toys, dishes ect. ready now. Although it will probly be about 5 months before I get my CAG.

Thanks for the new pictures! She's a very pretty girl.

I've read all kinds of neat stuff you can cook for your birds. You know, I would never have thought about cooking for a bird. I tried making an omelet of sorts for my conures but didn't have much luck with them eating it. Although they love mixed veggies!

Some funny stuff! I unfortunately don't have anything to share myself but this is a great idea. I'll be keeping an eye on this one.

I have a pair who are now 3 and 6 (human children that is lol). And while actually killing them hasn't really crossed my mind. Duct taping them to their chairs sure has! But, you gotta love em. That's what they're here for, driving you nuts :-)

Shes beautiful! I'm jealous, be several months probly before I get mine lol.

Thank you all for the great replies. I was starting to lean more towards a timneh but after reading your replies I think I'll stick with the CAG. I may make the three hour trip to St.Louis this weekend to see the clutch she has now and pick from them. I've been wanting to wait till spring to bring my baby home for one reason or another, but I'm about to go nuts waiting lol. The ones she has won't be ready for a while yet so I'll have plenty of time to decide.

I've always used teflon pans. After reading up on care for my feathered friends I got some new pots and pans today. I went with cast iron and stainless steel. Even got pyrex and some ceramic bake dishes. Now just what to replace my beloved fry daddy and electric skillet with.

You know, I've read a lot of stories about how people have aquired their grey but this is the first time I've heard that one. How in the world someone could do something like that is beyond me. It's sad that someone could have so little respect for their animals to do such a thing.

Though I haven't gotten my bird yet I've been seriously considering purchasing from the parrot posse located in St. Louis. http://parrotposse.com/default.aspx Mainly because they are somewhat local to where I live and I have spoken with Georgia on several occasions about purchasing a CAG and they seem like very helpful and quite knowledgeable about the birds they work with. I've found some places more local to get a baby but I'd rather travel a little farther and buy from someone who seems more reputable. I've thought about rehoming a bird. But the main of them I've seen in classifieds and craigslist haven't panned out. Although I have tried probably 5 times.

Well the main points I had read was that a TAG was less likely to switch from one favorite person to another at random? I had also read that they are easier to build a bond with in general. But I read the opposite on another site. I've really come to realize there's a lot of conflicting information about AG's out there. I realize a lot of it depends on the personality of the bird, how they were raised and how you treat them. But I know that a lot of you have/have had them both and maybe they could shed a bit more light from personal experience.

Yea that's one thing I noticed. Mango and Kiwi seem to go through a "loud" phase a couple times a day usually about the same time. But the noise doesn't really bother me, and where we live the nearest neighbor is 3/4th a mile down the road and he SURELY won't hear it no matter how loud they get lol.

Thank you all! I am seriously in love with them. After only a few days they already respond to their names. I'm surprised at how fast they have seemed to learn them. I had seen on another site somewhere that showed the changes in coloration they go through, from what I've read usually at around a year of age. They are some of the more bright colored birds out there I've seen. Though they are pretty now, I'm looking forward to watching them change to that brilliant coloration!

Though I am a fairly new member to these forums. My interest in getting a companion grey has had me reading and researching (somewhat to my wifes annoyance, she says I'm obsessed lol) a healthy portion of my free time for the last few months. I've poured over these forums and read other peoples experiences ranging from wonderful relationships they have with their birds to their sometimes a bit unpredictable behavior and personality traits that make the life long commitment to such an animal an enriching experience for you and your birds. You have all shared such wonderful, and sad stories. Being somewhat new to maintaining birds besides watching my mom raise canaries when I was a kid, I just don't want to become one of those people who dive right in not knowing what I'm getting myself into. Ive debated when I first started looking into it and have always thought a CAG was the bird for me. Mainly because I wanted a larger bird and I like the brighter red color in the tail. But being the first time I will have ever owned a bird like this i was thinking maybe I should see what the more experienced bird owners thought of the differences. I've read the TAG may be an easier bird for a beginner. Really it doesn't matter to me what I get, I just want to be able to provide the best home and care possible. So I was wondering if you all had any input on the differences if any on the two subspecies if I should set my sights on one in particular.

Thanks, you know I thought so too! They are so adorable. Yea, from what I understood when from the person I got them from they were "accidents". Although I'm not entirely sure how you accidentally incubate eggs for the required time. But they've been a wonderful addition to our family.
