Not that theres anything wrong at all with getting a baby, I wish I could, plus I know you had your heart set on a baby from a breeder, but in reality- theres so many unloved greys out there that need an owner like you, (caring / thoughtful) that IMO you should seek out a rescue and make that bird your new baby. Congrats on your new place!

I am, however, going to research all I can about this breed so that I can be ready when my time comes. Besides going through the diffrent threads which I will do anyhow,any special considerations to make concerning the amazon species that I should consider?

Thanks Ray, theres no need to think about it any longer. I cannot take on this responsibility now, *emotionally and financially* although the thought of having this addition to my flock excites me, the reality is that at the moment I do have my hands full and I am content to be happy with what I have. Although, Im sure that IF I would've attempted to tame this bird and make him my companion, I could've been successful, but Im not even going to try. Today for lunch break from work, I went home, held and played with my fids for a while, and as I caressed my gentle Aristotle, I realized that I could'nt put my birds on the backburner, or take away any of the precious time that I do devote to them. In the future, when I have a larger home with a bird room, and I do not work such long hours or have to go to school, I will add a zon to my flock. I can admit that it was infatuation at first site, as I find the DYH zon to be so beautiful, and the clarity of the voice and joyful songs that I've heard them to be capable of (from Youtube videos) will be filling the halls of my home one day. Thanks for all your greyt advice. This is why I love GreyForums...

Thanks friends, my bird doesnt like to get clipped and I assume that he has been showing me little by little by plucking a feather here and there whenever that time comes around. He still has great feathers but now has a couple of patches with the down feathers. Im assuming its from plucking. Ill get us a picture so you can see what I mean. . .

Ive seen the other threads, I am contemplating letting Aristotles wings grow out, and think that this would be the harness for us. Just doing a bit of research, and I was wondering if anyone had experience with this particular brand. It says no clips, so I worry about the bird getting loose? i dont know. The clipped method has been working for us so far, and I know that "if it aint broke, dont fix it" but from reading the pros and cons over and over, Im seriously considering flight for Aristotle. Thanks for the reply Dave. =)

Well just chiming in, my bird has a soft spoken voice, and laughs like a woman.

Judys right, take it easy. Heed the advice given to you, and read the threads in the forum as this has helped me understand my grey so much more. Good luck, and Im sure it will get better with time.

Thats the picture of the bird in question. Im sure I could love him and give him a better life, but I dont want to complicate my life. So many "what if's" What do you all think about this?

The real problem is my urge to "rescue" this bird and give it a better home, and the extra low price tag (which I shouldnt even contemplate spending) is teasing me, its like I found such a great deal, and Id be a fool not to jump on it. Its actually outrageous, hes practically giving it away with the purchase of the cage at the low low price of $350. He says its in perfect health, but what if its sick, or who knows whats wrong with it, you know? Hello, Im sorry to say that my MBS has been extremly strong lately. Ive found a re-home/rescue that's been taunting my thoughts. Its a "Magna DYH amazon" and I am torn on what to do. The owner says its about 11 years old, and was a breeder bird. He cannot touch it due to the bird being very moody, and a biter. The pics Ive seen are gorgeous, and supposedly the parrot sings and talks a lot. My problem is that I should just be happy with what I have, (my CAG and my rainbow lorikeet which are excellent companions) so I shouldn't be thinking about getting a new fid at this time.

Me too I couldnt believe it. the guy was shocked about my concern, but I explained to him about this site and how I know what he was going thru since an online friend was missing his grey. I hope he joins us.

It was me Barbara, I thought that he was a she since it liked me so much, but I was wrong.

Thanks friends, i guess that its not true that male birds only like females humans. My bird loves me, just as much as I love him.

The owner contacted me and told me his larry bird was in a "bird sanctuary" in his neighborhood. He told me the home was a little old ladys' who loves birds and seems that her pets had kept larrys attention so he stayed close by, Larry was high up in her tree! He got him down after an hour of coaxing and a long stick with a perch attatched. Finally a happy ending.

Well ladies and gentlemen, it seems that all the while I thought Aristotle was a she, he wasnt. I took him for his check up, and everything was greyt. the vet did a DNA test and let me know he is truly a HE.
